The cards looked way too clean to be real, and that gloss is a dead giveaway!
This is what we need, widely available high quality power 9 and reserved list cards. Seriously. All those who have original copies, well they can value or place values on their cards however they dream. I personally believe in a card game there should always be the ability to purchase cheap versions of cards otherwise its really becomes , whoever is willing to go deep into debt or worse is the one who ends up dominating those who don't. And that's sad
I'd love to see these under a jeweler's loupe. That said, the colors looked off to me, but on video it's really hard to tell. But as you said, these are fairly modern reprints.

I use a loupe and look for the rosette pattern.

I knew it was fake by the packaging - There is no one on the planet who would mail a real beta black lotus in a padded envelope smh.

bro, the soft "hard" covers break my soul as they don't provide any real protection if someone just presses on the package......noone should ever send in those as well!
Nice video. Any concerns with giving away too many secrets to other possible counterfeiters? I feel like the more insanely valuable these cards get, and the more information out there about what distinguishes the fakes from the authentic cards, the more likely it someone will be willing to invest in the proper tooling and techniques to get them exactly right.... No?
This is just the beggining of the magic 30 proxy era! Counterfeiters are just standing by for 30th anniversary to come out so they can unload their proxies. Hopefully wizards put something in place so that counterfeiters can't counterfeit.
Glossy af and the fakes never have that last black ink layer to clean up the image, no matter how good they look

I'd still take these over the Magic 30th proxies any day!
I wish you showed the black outlines of the cards under a loupe (the tin black lines that frame the art wrok). It is kinda visible at the brown artifact color that its paxielated but still no hard proofs without a loop.
Those look fake from across the room...also who would put 75k of cards in that packaging?
Its not difficult to detect these as being fakes man...the condition/centering alone is suspect.
Did you mail this to yourself? This does not seem real on any level.
Any time I see any of the old beta or other bb cards I know something is funny at least if the back is perfect
That's why you can never judge from a distance. So either it's your lighting or the camera, or I could just tell it right away as you moved them into closer view. The coloring and gloss looked off from real 1993 prints.
It was obvious they were fake by the fact the seller never even sleeved them separately. Zero care in the packaging = no clue about Magic cards. I’m gonna try say hello to you in Vegas if you’re there. 😊

There are original copies out there that are very clean. I know of sets that have been in boxes and binders since 1993. But these looked off, at least on camera.
@@penguinlust6749 nah the inking and everything. I own Alpha/Beta they don't look like this.
@@yorionenthusiast170 Yup, agreed. Good counterfeits to the untrained eye, but that's it. Still, I've learned the hard way that even the best camera can distort colors -- seeing them in person is the only way to be sure.
From the thumbnail only the texture of the paper looks like vintage

@@vintagemagic definately. You use a pretty good camera in your videos. I'll sometimes see cards posted with potato phone quality pictures on fb where you wouldnt be able to tell if cards were real or fake until they hit your hand.
