Can anyone find what it is that he said? Or is this like the 3rd Argentinaina player to be censured alongside Matera etc - but we were never told what HE had actually said
An on-fire Alex Mitchell is genuinely so underrated by England fans, even though he gets a moderate amount of praise, I don’t think it’s enough for what he can do. He doesn’t snipe anywhere near as much as he used to and therefore defences still need to watch for it, allowing him so much more time to set the attack. Him and Furbank are a lot of the reason as to why Saints were the best prem team last year.
Simple game plan for Razor this weekend.. basically play the Dunedin second half in the first half. Forward dominant, set piece to set piece, maul, pick and go then box kick constantly keeping the English forwards under pressure and backtracking. This should pay dividends in the second half with tiring forwards and fresh bench players.
I really thought the difference between the two teams was in the last 25 minutes second half where NZ changed style of play completely. Credit to Beauden who was so influential in that. That said, for me, that was Borthwick's first big in-game error. Taking off Mitchell & Smith for a new half-back pairing of Spencer & Finn Smith (who had never played a game together before) really hampered England's ability to respond to the NZ change of style. Not helped that George, the captain, was also off. How many of the top 4 (SA, Ireland, NZ & France) regularly replace their 10 in a tight game? Aside from the kicking, I think that was Marcus' best game for England. Really pulled the strings in attack and did a lot of good in his defensive role. With England losing the territory game, I felt like they needed to move to a system with phases of attack which you needed the starting 10 to run. Instead we changed 3 key decision-makers and kept playing in a way that allowed NZ to retain control. Felt like the game ended with a whimper, rather than a real push to win.
I wouldn't be surprised if this fixture becomes 1st in the world vs 2nd by the time we reach 2027. There was an element of composure and accuracy from both sides that I don't think I've seen in a game of rugby since (perhaps) Sa vs NZ 2015 Semi final
One often overlooked strength of the All Blacks is their rugby IQ & their ability to problem solve. It took them to half time to do this on Saturday but it still happened. For their first game they managed that cagey second half well. They always improve for the second game against an opponent because they know where to fix and where to apply pressure. I think you'll see some attacking adjustments this weekend and they'll get some more pay from their attack.
As a Kiwi I was really impressed with Englands defence they’re now a solid team I can see them winning the six nations again in the near future give them time and they will be a threat again
@richardscanlan3419 sounds like a salty comment because the All Blacks didn't win by 15 points. Remember: the world had to endure McCaw and very dodgy All Blacks defense for a decade. Now suddenly the Kiwis are on the Blackfoot, people like you and scrambling and can't accept their own tactics used against them
I have watched Rugby from the day i was born & every time i consume some Squidge, I learn something new. Top class analysis as always. Love from Australia.
England played the Springbok game against the All Blacks which was to smother them. You cannot beat the worlds greatest team of all time by playing their style of rugby. You need to stop them from winning and that involves putting bodies on the line by pushing them back in the tackle and denying them space. England did exactly that and came very close to beating them. This England needs to do again. The win will come. Springbok fan.
Hopefully Razor will recognise and rectify that I’m sure his players and coaches will be more prepared for that next game cos it’s pretty dam true I remember France doing that to them years ago, it did not go good for the ABs 3 games straight of France doing exactly that

How did England push nz so hard? Nearly 2 years of preparation, cohesion and embedding of systems, structures and game plans, versus an entirely new all blacks coaching set up with entirely new attack and defense shapes, structures systems and game plans on 10 days prep.
Wow, I liked that one Squidge Rugby, had a sneaky suspicion in the past that you weren't a fan of the All Blacks, I mean no one loves them like we do here of course, but there are people/nations out there in the big wide world that would love nothing more than to see us lose (by 2 points or more!). It's ok though, because 20 years ago I hated Sterling Mortlock and I would be a hypocrite to complain. edit: make that 25 years ago - yikes! It's awesome England bought some good, close test match footy down, we are thrilled to have them here and look forward to the next match. 🖤
I certainly do and i can't help but giggle everytime squidge sings his praise after he said he was solid enough as a premiership player but would never be enough for test rugby.
this first all black game in attack had an air of dave rennie's australia to me. at it's core it felt like they were trying to play too fast for the (still developing and bedding in) english defence to contain. very curious to see how the 2nd game goes
The weakness in England's rush-defence is that Razor is...well super sharp. Watch for new AB tactics, eswpecially the kick in behind England toward either corner touchline to force thm back AND gain territory. Winning the lineout in your 22 really just leaves the safe option of kicking for touch. Also, Razor will be tempted to start runaway freight train Aumua, with our best forward pack (so same as 1st test except for Aumua). And I'd go for a 6-2 split bomb squad for the 2nd half to run England off their feet. DMac will turn up with his own kicking boots (instead of his sister's) and he'll learn to count to 60 in his head now lol. Sititi should be on the bench, and I'd be tempted to put Finau there too - and start Blackadder. So my bench woud be taylor, newell, tuungafasi, vaa'i, finau and sititi, with beaudie and ratima the only backs.
A few things that also made the difference were the NZ scrum having the upper hand (whether legally or not) and the NZ bench being better. Borthwick who has done a lot right, made a mistake in taking off some of our best attacking players in Mitchell, M Smith and Chandler Cunningham South. But all in all it was a pretty good match up. There is now it seems very little between SA, NZ, France, Ireland and England which is making for some great test matches. Australia also could be making a resurgence as well.
Really interesting to see how Maro is being used differently. Incredible player but hasn’t been utilised to get the best out of him. Hopefully this tweak will let us see more of the Maro-nause!
7 weeks head start with the 6 nations tournament earlier this year, NZ new coach, 5 new caps, key players out injured, Hmmmm a bit cheap to call it early....
Borthwick’s substitutions made Eng worse and Razor’s made NZ better. Eng left some exceptional young talents at home. NZ have many talents out of contention. All in all, Eng missed again taking a huge scalp. The jury is still out on Borthwick - but Jones seems to have had a positive impact. I expect that was Eng’s only chance down there. Would love to be proven wrong - but the NZ talent and coaching nouse of Robertson is at another level.
Pretty solid analysis. Makes😅 one think game too defence focused which isn’t good for expansive rugby. Still think limiting replacements would force teams into balancing power with skill. 120kg doesn’t run for 80 mins and that used to be the trade off now they only have to run 40. If they can’t run for 80 then they shouldn’t be there. They just shut the game down and don’t allow the true skills and abilities of those that can play the 80 minutes are there to bring to the game.
Lets see how Razor progresses this team and we have almost moved back to the old school rugby of the 70's and 80's, were we see close fought battles with accuracy being the winner on the day. Maybe the running rugby the AB's used to play is over for now..
I've been playing the Etzebeth role on EA sports rugby since 2006 but I've normally used a back. I can see why they use Underhill but imagine a fast guy in that role.
My brother in christ you have the best rugby videos on youtube but please slow down just a smidge. I have to rewatch chunks over and over cause I can barely make out what youre saying half the time
I'd expect the All Black's to improve a lot by the next game good effort to get the win. NZ have been together a couple of weeks new coaches and players England have had a six nations and warm up games reckon NZ would have lost if it was the old setup
South A fan here. Did anyone see how lazy M.Smiths run to the wing was for the S.Reece try? Pollard, Sacha F.Mzulu. J. Crowley or a full-back would potentially work harder and stop that move.
I thought the ABs won because they respected the pill and looked after it, and the boys put in the hard yards, with of course full credit to the opposition.
So many kicks in the second half. While I enjoyed the kicks being just long enough to be gathered and then Sevu Reece absolutely smashing Furbank, id like to see a greater mix of those just long enough to be collected by England and then proper contestable kicks. Plus there was a shocker, where DMac puts up a lovely chip kick... and who is the player dawdling to retrieve it... Scott Barrett, not exactly the most speedy player. Looking forward to Will Jordan returning.
That's painful seeing Mounga unelgible in the Stands. Be good when Razor gets him back and Jordan can play 15. I like that English 9. ABs have no run threat from 9 at all until Roigard recovers.
Yup. Mo'unga will come back before the next RWC. With Jordan potentially back for the Rugby Championship and Roigard potentially on the end of year tour. The AB's backline can only get better.
I love how squidge titles the video "So how did the all blacks overcome england? | Test 1 Analysis" Before spending the majority of the video talking about how well the english did
I was at the game and behind the line where England scored that second try, It took them 60 seconds to realize the overlap, probably longer. There is no manipulation, ABs/Rieko had 5 chances to get back in position. England nearly butchered it
I feel like 'let a big lad just get smashed' is a good way to go. Keep pounding that ball at England with the big lads - Asafo Aumua is about twice as fast as any big man on England, if he gets through the middle it's going to be a problem for England (I hope he gets the start this week). And it will tire out the England defense. Let the big men run up the middle over and over, then go outside. Trying to force it outside when you haven't forced England to compress the defense seems unlikely to succeed.
hey squidge love your work video excellent as usual. wondering if we could get a wallabies breakdown soon? keen to hear your thoughts on our test against wales
17:2317:23 England played very well, they looked the complete team to me, the match could have gone either way., great match. Will be a bit different this weekend i think. Our tactics were very naive running the ball from side to side without getting over the gain line. The last 4 minutes of the first half were ridiculous, i was yelling boot it out! At 47.25 earl was tackled, went to his knees, didn't release the ball should have been a penalty to Nz under the posts
Not bad for a little country from down under.. We have been holding our own for over a century now. it's about bloody time the rest of the world gave us some competition.
It is showing now that France and South Africa are setting the tone with innovation. England have started playing like 2019 Springboks and NZ are playing more like 2023 ish France. Hopefully Razor and Smit bring some true innovation
Theres only one team the All Blacks play like & that team is the All Blacks. You dont get a winning percentage of 76% that spans right back to 1903 playing like another rugby team. "2023ish France" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@laurieclark6652 Show me how NZ have innovated in the last 3 years? No one will question the history and winning percentage & innovation during the Richie McCaw era. It's specific & easily recognisable by any rugby fan who has watched the French & SA how they have changed the game over the last 3 years. So your answer is about history & winning percentage, not current innovation. Salty much? 🤣😜
@@jarodsantana231 all im saying is the All Blacks dont & never will play like France with the history & winning % included to back up why. Chill out bro.
the way I see it : first half over, but the AB's still playing- why? why not kick the ball out, you are ahead 10-7? Then in the end McKenzie has a very good opportunity to make it 19-15- he takes too long to kick the penalty. Final score 16-15.
The other thing I noticed about the ABs change to the kicking game was that they then changed it up slightly part way through. They tried the sort of wipers infield kicks of Dmac but then later oh started firing more long downfield kicks straight into Lt. Furbank and rush get someone to smash him backwards to stop him running it back.

When will Lt. Furbank get his well-deserved field promotion
With half the team being captain or vice captain rn i'd imagine soon
Retain the penalty count once you know what the referees are strict on. Contest kicking and impact of the bench. That's how the ABs won 🏆
Men's red roses 🤣 love it
Superb once again
I'll pay your closing "Here's to you, Mr. 😀Robertson"!!
Really interesting to see how Maro is being used differently. Incredible player but hasn’t been utilised to get the best out of him. Hopefully this tweak will let us see more of the Maro-nause!
Nice analysis guys
Ardman’s own nine 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
7 weeks head start with the 6 nations tournament earlier this year, NZ new coach, 5 new caps, key players out injured, Hmmmm a bit cheap to call it early....
Englands defense was epic, but there were a few offsides.
I think at least 3 penalties were missed by the ref.
But, if you can get away with it, do it
Sole im telling Pastor on you
"if you can get away with it"
definitely from South Auckland

Fantastic video! Subbed
Getting strong Princess Caroline tongue twister vibes from Squidge here and I'm all for it
Lets see how Razor progresses this team and we have almost moved back to the old school rugby of the 70's and 80's, were we see close fought battles with accuracy being the winner on the day.
Maybe the running rugby the AB's used to play is over for now..
Felix Jones employing Boks defense system..........coaches are evolving with the game.........
The contrasting coaching boxes tell a big story
I've been playing the Etzebeth role on EA sports rugby since 2006 but I've normally used a back. I can see why they use Underhill but imagine a fast guy in that role.
Lomu
@@Dilmahkana IDK if Lomu is on Rugby '06
My brother in christ you have the best rugby videos on youtube but please slow down just a smidge. I have to rewatch chunks over and over cause I can barely make out what youre saying half the time
It helps to lower the speed of the video a bit 😅
I'd expect the All Black's to improve a lot by the next game good effort to get the win. NZ have been together a couple of weeks new coaches and players England have had a six nations and warm up games reckon NZ would have lost if it was the old setup
Couldn't agree more. I attribute the win , one point, to our 16th man. Razor
Actually can't disagree with you there.
Loving the new George Furbank jokes! Hoping he can remain in the England squad as long as Jonny Sexton to see how long you can stretch them out.
NZ tactical changes is how Eng played SA in the WRC finals. Eng kicked everything giving SA nothing to hit. It’s very effective for blitz defences.
South A fan here. Did anyone see how lazy M.Smiths run to the wing was for the S.Reece try? Pollard, Sacha F.Mzulu. J. Crowley or a full-back would potentially work harder and stop that move.
I thought the ABs won because they respected the pill and looked after it, and the boys put in the hard yards, with of course full credit to the opposition.
phenomenal post game interview
I was impressed with eng defence. Will be at the game
Thank you
Honestly, most of the time England are offside like SA.
I'd say Hotham is a pretty good running threat
Ratima?
Yup. Mo'unga will come back before the next RWC. With Jordan potentially back for the Rugby Championship and Roigard potentially on the end of year tour. The AB's backline can only get better.
Have yiu thought about coaching or assisting?, got some great insight that even some players aren't aware of 😂😂😂 great videos bro.
I love how squidge titles the video "So how did the all blacks overcome england? | Test 1 Analysis"
Before spending the majority of the video talking about how well the english did
I was at the game and behind the line where England scored that second try,
It took them 60 seconds to realize the overlap, probably longer.
I loved Aumua coming off the bench. Maybe when Samisoni comes back we'll have two strong, fast, aggresive hooker ball runners
Anyone else get baited by multiple sentences that sounded like leading into the non-existent Squearespace ad?
hey squidge love your work video excellent as usual. wondering if we could get a wallabies breakdown soon? keen to hear your thoughts on our test against wales
17:23 17:23 England played very well, they looked the complete team to me, the match could have gone either way., great match.
Remarkable the All Blacks achieved what they did with just 10 days in camp against a team that are battle hardened after 6 Nations
😂 the 6 nations was 6 months ago you weirdo
Love how England just snatches one springbok coach after each World Cup
England hire Irish defence coach after his contract ends with Springbok ? What is remarkable about that ?
Actually, actually, I did enjoy it.
Not bad for a little country from down under.. We have been holding our own for over a century now. it's about bloody time the rest of the world gave us some competition.
Poms should of won that being the ABs first game Under new coach players Nz looked real Rusty wasn’t pretty but they will ONLY GET STRONGER ✊
Brilliant!!😊
no mention of the scrums
I'll save you 20 mins
They got lucky
No wonder Squidge thought Underhill was unreal, because there apparently are two of him on the pitch 😂
I'll just say what everyone is thinking... where's the Springboks v Ireland analysis? Can't wait!!
Scored one more point !
England played a good game 😊
This upcoming game will affect the perception of the one played. When the abs dominate England rd 2, heads will drop about the series.
Legend
the way I see it : first half over, but the AB's still playing- why? why not kick the ball out, you are ahead 10-7? Then in the end McKenzie has a very good opportunity to make it 19-15- he takes too long to kick the penalty. Final score 16-15.
The other thing I noticed about the ABs change to the kicking game was that they then changed it up slightly part way through.
They tried the sort of wipers infield kicks of Dmac but then later oh started firing more long downfield kicks straight into Lt. Furbank and rush get someone to smash him backwards to stop him running it back.
4:08 offside 😂
We need to take a leaf out of cotters plan and get them back peddling.
