Great vid, love the channel :) Followed your last guide (bluetooth+battery+flash on the 5th gen) but I used a tiny Ugreen BT5 transmitter from amazon, this way you can keep the hold button as the board uses one button to turn on and to pair, turns itself automatically after not being in use and it doesnt take up much more space than the bluetooth board used in these vids, wired it in the same as your video and it works amazingly well !
very excited for a mod that has a Bluetooth toggle button and retains the lock toggle button. It seems like it wouldnt be too had to unsolder the switch off the bluetooth adapter, and then add wires to allow it to fit up against the center top of the case. though i supose youd need to carefully drill or dremel a hole through the side of the case
oh yeah its supposed to be a dull box cutter blade, to the point where you can slide your finger across it without fear of being cut. They are ridiculously sharp when brand new. I had mentioned that in a previous video i think but seemed to forget it in this one.
Hmm, just finished my mods and I believe I followed the steps correctly, however I only have audio coming out of the left channel with both bluetooth and aux. Unless with say wired earbuds, I pull them out of the aux port halfway, then it will play... but then there still isn't wireless audio and the physical aux connection can just shake out. I checked the bit of ribbon cable near the actual port and there doesn't seem to be any tears that I can see, plus with the audio still coming through if I pull the aux out slightly then I wouldn't think it's the cable right? Have you ever had this issue before or do you have any idea's on what to do as a fix?
Nice video but losing the function of the lockscreen is a dealbreaker, hope you can do a video of a way to do it without losing that, I would buy a back from you if you can make one
The board in my classic 4th gen bluetooth video was able to power on and pair through a single button and was still able to retain the lock switch. I still have one of those left so i might do a video installing that in a classic 5, 6 or 7th gen.
I’ve tried this mod myself with the items you listed in the description and it’s really bad, at least for me. Pairing is most of the time a nightmare, I’ve tried with multiple bt headphones and dongles and it struggles every time. But what’s even worse is the signal, I’ve cut the board like you did in the video and used the NDS antenna, but as soon as I put the iPod in my pockets the connection interrupts and I’ve got to do the pairing again. Definitely not worth the hassle.
Antenna placement will make a big difference to the range. I am able to walk out of the room and shut the door before it disconnects on mine. I have found pairing to be quite straight forward with this board as well. My kz AZ09 will remember it after the iPod has been powered off. The only time you have to click the button in and re pair is when you connect the earphones to another device. Here are some tips for pairing: Make sure the earphones your are trying to pair arent still connected to your phone or other device, if they are it will not pair. If you want to connect a different set of earphones make sure to turn off the currently connected ones otherwise it will automatically re pair to them.
@@partspluspods3689Mine disconnects if I put it in the pocket or if I distance it for more than 2 meters. how’s that possible? I’ve even tried with the antenna going outside of the case but that made little difference.
Good vid, seeing it all come together at the end was so satisfying (please show usb-C mod i want to attempt to do this too) I'm just concerned on doing this and it wont work with my Airpod Pros gen 2. It's my daily driver and would be such a good pair, but i know that BT transmitter might not work. Question: if a BT transmitter is BT v5.3 it should be compatible with the Airpod Pros Gen 2? if so are there any other Transmitters you recommend?
in my experience, yeah this transmitter doesn't work with the airpods pro 2, but you can use other transmitters like the taotronics one that works with airpods pro 2, and toggles power via the pair button so you can keep your lock switch too
I have had some reports from customers that the airpods pro 2s will be choppy when paired with this board. I looked into it a little bit and it seems as if apple had designed them to require more bandwidth than what the standard bluetooth spec would allow as this is not the only device people were having that problem with, there were some reports of people running into that issue when connecting their airpods pro 2s to a windows pc even. Although i dont have any airpods pro 2s to test with myself so im not sure what does or doesnt work. But if you find a 3.5mm headphone jack adapter that does work with the airpods pro 2s you could just disassemble it and install it inside the ipod using the same steps as shown here. You may need to use the thick housing to get a lot of other boards to fit as most are bigger than this one. Some will also require a dc - dc isolator to remove background noise too, i showed than in my ipod classic 4 Bluetooth mod.
we have started offering the bluetooth back with taptic engine installed! There is a separate listing for a taptic engine on the website, just add that and the bluetooth back to cart and we can install it for you. It will fit in both the slim and thick bluetooth back as well.
I bought this from your store. Unfortunately, one day, I forgot to turn off the bluetooth, and the circuit board fried. I confirmed this by opening up my iPod and checking it. I switched components and went back to the OG stuff, and everything worked. It's a bummer that it doesn't survive an accidental battery left on...
Sorry about the issue. The battery may have just drained really low. You can try charging the iPod with a firewire charger. It is a higher powered charger and can bring back batteries that have drained very low more easily than just the standard USB. If that doesnt work you could just replace the battery on the kit. It does require soldering although it is not to difficult.
@@partspluspods3689 I tried that and still couldn't get the bluetooth to function properly. I should also mention that when I try to play music, either wireless or wired only the right channel/earphone works the other side is either dead or playing music at a very low volume. At this point, I think its best to just replace the whole thing with a brand new one. Thanks for the tips, its a shame it didn't quite work.
hey dude, hows progress on the keep lock switch mod? i have all the parts but ideally would like to preserve that so holding off on soldering anything for the moment
Will this tutorial work for a 5th gen? I know you already have a 5th gen tutorial but seeing as this video is more recent/polished it’d be great if I could just follow this one.
@@partspluspods3689Thanks for the response! One more question, you mentioned that adding the larger antenna increases the difficulty quite a bit, but it looked like you just snapped off the old antenna and plugged in a new one. Is there more to it that I didn’t catch or is it that straightforward? I have a spare DS Lite antenna that I can use if it isn’t too much harder.
@@ramen3586 its just one more thing to have to position when you are sealing it back up. If you have enough skills to do this mod yourself then it shouldn't be to difficult and i would recommend to do it

Hello my friend, I hope you are well! Is it possible to send my iPod classic 160 GB from Brazil for memory upgrade and Bluetooth installation? Thank you.
Question Wouldn't it be possible to connect the bluetooth adaptor to the 30 pin connector? I know there are some pins that output media digitally for car audio and dock if I'm not mistaken Of course that would need good soldering skills but possible if true
Bluetooth to 30pin is not a good idea. Its get audio and can not change through the wheel. Only on the 3.5mm the volume can adjust. When you use the 30pin the headphones need a volume button. Thats the problem on nearly all 30pin to bluetooth adapter
it will still use it although the signal will be shared between the two. So if you cut it all the signal will just go through the antenna and this will give the strongest signal.
It is the KZ-AZ09 bluetooth upgrade kit attached to the KZ ZSN Pros. I put links to buy them in the description. They are very affordable, roughly $35 USD for both
I have a better idea. 1 little hole in the back plate to push the pairing swith with a sim card tool. An cut a bit under the 30pin connector for a little on off switch to use a fingernail. No lost of the lock switch. Build in real in next weeks
