You should have reviewed the design of Turbo model as well, don't you think? Porsche made some distinct differentiation between the base model & the turbo model this year.
A lot of things you said were wrong… the wings being body color were actually an exclusive front end for the turbo models, the difference is that now it is standard in other versions too. The charging door is also an option… in the old one you could choose between a regular opening method and an electronic one. The electronic one has always come with that black line. The housing for the gauge cluster is actually part of the optional heads up display
At 7:00 that housing is actually only there if you buy the headsup display. It was the same thing with the prefacelift I believe so most of the new Taycans will still have the same gauge cluster with no housing just like the top one.
@@KK001 I agree, it is better without that cover. No changes to the "housing" of the gauge cluster, as it is part of the HUD option, it is the same now. The new front design is a huge miss, and the new turbo versions front design is the worst of all, it was so beautiful and unique.
They redesigned it to be more aerodynamic, especially the structure around the headlights. So I can kind of understand why they decided to make it "less exotic".
Same here. I always felt like it was crying black tears of sadness. 😢 I actually prefer the new cleaner look. And there are definitely some other options for the rims that are nicer than the ones there.
Was thinking the new front end looks almost a bit more consistent with Chinese EV designs, eg BYD etc. Definitely less distinctive than the outgoing model.
100% agree with you! I was looking at the new facelift design and I was dissapointed about the changes on the front face. Previously, Tycan was sleek and distinctive, coming strong from a concept Mission E to a production. So it was an amazing concept to production evolution. But now, the front face looks more like a typical sports car. More edgy, les character.
I agree with you on all the points, the taycan was a realization of the mission e concept and what makes it special is the tear shaped intake. So think the new design might improve on the efficiency but degrades the design. I still prefer the 4s looks to the turbo, a bit too many sharp edges which is against the traditional rounded design of the Porsche brand. the instrument cluster cover is the optional head up display which was an option on the old design too
Looks worse than the original. The tear shaped headlights were a defining visual characteristic of the Taycan and made it look unique and iconic. The new Taycan is no longer iconic. It has gone down the same path as the Audi R8. That car was also originally elegant and iconic and now looks like trash with the constant "upgrades" in the design. When I was younger, the R8 was my dream car, then they destroyed its design. More recently, the Taycan was my dream car, and it looks like they have also destroyed its design. I am now at a stage in my career where I can afford cars like this. However, won't be buying the Taycan
Been waiting for this video, thank you for uploading so soon. Before I watch my initial thoughts are that the original looks slightly better to me, feels like the front end has been changed for the sake of a facelift rather than actually improving it. Still good looking nonetheless, just miss the mission e style front end of the original 👌
what bothers me is the fact the new facelift starts to look like Chinese EVs, not to hate on Chinese EVs cause some of them are great. the new face looks flat and lacks dimensions. What Taycan truly needs are better range, smoother infotainment and less warning lights on the dash
The housing for the instrument cluster is if you chose the HUD and imo it looks worse, the screen without it inside the car looks so much better, the hud is bulky. The black thing on the charge port is an electric button to open if you have that option, unfortunately you lose the functional side vents if you option that up. Most things are simply options that you could chose on the last one as well. And to the "why" the front end was changed, efficiency ofc. But I agree the old one looks better. But the Turbo+ package actually look better if you ask me
I agree. It’s not looking as exotic now. Porsche knows that design was beautiful and thus took away from the base model. You have to pay $185k or something stupid to get that beautiful front in the turbo
I'm usually in agreement with you but in a crazy twist I don't feel the same this time. While I do think the old headlight housing was more unique, it was too weird for me. Looked great from some angles and bad from others. I think the new look is cleaner and more in line Porsche's usual styling and will age better
the housing for the speedo is not new. It's just the HUD Version in the new one which has this little housing. And also it's not above the speedo, it's starts right behind
Better aerodynamics. That's the main reason why they changed the front end. Btw I like the front end of the new Taycan as well. It looks a bit leaner and cleaner as compared to the organic old Taycan.
3:00 The old one looked like it had cried for 6 hours after putting on mascara. The new one, while less "styled", is more inline with Porsche's design language. Also, the "Turbo" version has a improved version of that element.
I liked the old design more. dont like porsche going more and more rectangular in their design language. For me, porsche was always beautiful, round design. They're starting to look more and more like Audis.
Great analysis and I fully agree on the front end changes bringing a blander less exotic look to the Taycan. The new wheel options are also a step back, particularly the ones in the review which I feel clash with the sculpted curves of the body. As I understand it the changes all improve aerodynamics but the wheels didn’t have to have the harsh angles to their design in my opinion. I will not buy a 2025 Taycan now, not because of the styling changes but because I haven’t won the lottery, lol. It really is an outstanding effort by Porsche and the technology will undoubtedly trickle down throughout the VAG EVs over the next decade. What a time to be alive.
Porsche did the exact same thing as Tesla with the facelift on the front of the car, they took off the soul of the car, and that's difficult because most people could say that EVs dont really have a soul.
100% agree… old looks so nice more like a concept car… facelift looks like Tesla… but peoples like new tesla refresh design as well. So no suprice, that they love this strange taycan refresh design as well… its trend now have unisex vehicle with strange lines… ;-D
Is it just me or, if you just take the headlight and hood portion of the Porsche, does it not look like a Hyundai Ioniq 6? Everyone called the Hyundai ugly and weird... But I don't find the styling of either all that much different.
My favorite thing about this channel is that I NEVER agree with Bemli. I thought the pre-facelift version looked like it had a tear-tattoo on the front end. The air dam up front is probably like 3000 dollars to paint extra - so I don't know that it will be painted for most of their cars. What I REALLY want Porsche to do is make a font end that recalls the 928 since this is on many levels a successor and reinterpretation of that car.
New LCI Taycan looks so much better. Original head lights look like the car is always crying with tears coming down on the sides and that was the major design flaw that would prevent me from ever getting model. Along with the extended range, I’m glad that they addressed the frontal design problem.
I am really dissapointed in Porsches design language recently... not a fan of either the Cayenne, Panamera, Macan nor the Taycan facelift here. The expectations for the 718 EV are VERY low now, from the spyshots one can already tell it will be very similar to the new Taycan. I just liked the bubble shaped designs more.
As a 2023 Taycan owner I have the exact same feeling about this new front design...I probably wouldn't select taycan as my first EV if I buy mine 2 years late
personally i hate the cut outs in the front lights housing.... i how id have designed them from the start... this facelift corrects alot of the old designs mistakes.
I own a 2022 Taycan and couldn't agree more with you. The new facelift is definitely a step back, I'm very disappointed, I don't think I'm going to upgrade to the new model now.
while i think there was no facelift necessary on the "old" Taycan i have to disagree with you on a lot of points. You're just comparing the old Turbo version to the new standard kit variant. But i agree that with the facelift they've made the aesthetic gap between the two variants much bigger. Basically making the standard model look much slower and just worse.
I was planning to upgrade my 2020 Taycan 4S but when I saw the latest front design , I am having second thoughts. WHILE the Turbos aesthetics are appealing and maintain some elements of the tear-drop design, I am hesitant about spending over $300 k in a car. My inclination now is to wait for GTS release, hoping it will share similarities with the Turbo design.
One annoying thing is you want to be bang up to date with ev tech so if you prefer an older models styling you’ll be behind in terms of technology. I know this is still true with ICE cars but seems like you’re lagging further behind with an older EV. That’s new tech for ya
I love the drawing of the Nissan 240Z in the background. That’s a dream project car to own. I almost bought one when I was in my early 20’s. Obviously is one of your favorite designs, tell us why!
I agree with you 100 percent. They sadly made the facelift slightly worse in terms of aesthetics. Hopefully they come back around on the next redesign.
It’s so interesting to me that people didn’t like the black hood around each headlight. Like you I think it looks FAR superior. I think there’s a lot of cars that have this feature like the gt500 mustang look so much better with it.
Always loved this car. I actually prefer the facelift. However, with reliability woes and seeing TurboS models on the market depreciating $50k in just 2 years, you've got to REALLY want one ;-)
wasn't particularly a fan of the old one's headlights and its housing. Made the car look a little bit too "alien eye like" and not in a good way. It looks more sleek and professional to me now with the redesign.
It's not a McLaren. The new one looks much more Porsche-like with the new headlights and the fender is the same it's just hard to tell in the pink color. I'd rather the headlights be clean like the new one than the McLaren look in the old one.
Usually I agree with everything you say, and I your point is very valid and accurate as always, however, I like it it just looks more futuristic and ultramodern
Considering it still looks 98 percent as good ill prefer it since it has a lot more usable range. Will be a perfect daily with the 911 gt3 as the weekend car.
I like both. I doubt the minor changes will matter to anyone who buys. It has a more clean design. Also the turbo s model is alot nicer. The interior is 💯 an upgrade.
The comments on this video are so different from car reviewers' ones on Taycan refresh. There, it's just an echo chamber of "Porsche, everything you do is beautiful." Makes me question, are most people *@#%% blind?
You should have reviewed the design of Turbo model as well, don't you think? Porsche made some distinct differentiation between the base model & the turbo model this year.
yeah they really trying to squeeze that extra 50k out of you, huh
A lot of things you said were wrong… the wings being body color were actually an exclusive front end for the turbo models, the difference is that now it is standard in other versions too. The charging door is also an option… in the old one you could choose between a regular opening method and an electronic one. The electronic one has always come with that black line. The housing for the gauge cluster is actually part of the optional heads up display
Yeah I was thinking the same thing.
Electric chargin door Is standard on all new models
At 7:00 that housing is actually only there if you buy the headsup display. It was the same thing with the prefacelift I believe so most of the new Taycans will still have the same gauge cluster with no housing just like the top one.
Thats would make me not want the headup display. I think the housing looks ugly.
@@KK001 I agree, it is better without that cover. No changes to the "housing" of the gauge cluster, as it is part of the HUD option, it is the same now. The new front design is a huge miss, and the new turbo versions front design is the worst of all, it was so beautiful and unique.

Good point, what an enormous sacrifice though
Looks like trash now.
Yea I would have taken less kWh for a better design. 😂
@@hehel5163 totally agree, im guessing theyre compelled to make sexy numbers for marketing.
@@W-meme looks better now period
The gauge cluster housing is only for the optional HUD
If there was ever a face that didn’t need a lift it was this one.
I never liked that kind of “black tear” of the original, so for me just looks better the face lifted version.
Agreed. I kinda wish Lexus also gets rid of the black tear on the LC500
Same here. I always felt like it was crying black tears of sadness. 😢 I actually prefer the new cleaner look. And there are definitely some other options for the rims that are nicer than the ones there.
The refresh kind of lost the mission e concept design… looks a bit similar to the model 3 Tesla Highland haha
Agreed it looked like an auto parts store add on.
I agree as well
They went from a car that looks like Porsche to one that looks like Tesla
Was thinking the new front end looks almost a bit more consistent with Chinese EV designs, eg BYD etc. Definitely less distinctive than the outgoing model.
One correction: There is no housing for the gage cluster as standard, it's only there when HUD is chosen as an option, as before. So no change.
the tab on the battery charge port is actually on the pre facelift model too. you swipe it to open the charge port
it doesn't feel that organic this was my first thought about it, something similar happens with the new macan.
No Frog face.
They’re clearly trying to build a new front theme, but it doesn’t fit this beauty at all.
I actually like the new macan front and rear design over the older one
I actually like the new Macan more than the old but definitely prefer the first gen Taycan in exterior looks.
Talk about ruining a fantastic design
100% agree with you! I was looking at the new facelift design and I was dissapointed about the changes on the front face. Previously, Tycan was sleek and distinctive, coming strong from a concept Mission E to a production. So it was an amazing concept to production evolution. But now, the front face looks more like a typical sports car. More edgy, les character.
The new taycan looks like a model 3 at the front. Old one was much better
Look at the turbo model. I think you would prefer its Styling. I think they made the changes in the front of the car to improve efficiency.
Definitely prefer the New refreshed design over the old.
What do you think of the Taycan Turbo restyling?
I agree with you on all the points, the taycan was a realization of the mission e concept and what makes it special is the tear shaped intake. I still prefer the 4s looks to the turbo, a bit too many sharp edges which is against the traditional rounded design of the Porsche brand. the instrument cluster cover is the optional head up display which was an option on the old design too
02:46 Agree. Not sure why they made the front-side intake less aggressive and generally less visually appealing than the outgoing model.
in short: you like the 2020's design more than the 2025...
Looks worse than the original. The tear shaped headlights were a defining visual characteristic of the Taycan and made it look unique and iconic. The new Taycan is no longer iconic. I much prefer the old front end. The Turbo S version is somewhat okay though. Otherwise it’s an improvement all round in other areas

Yep, this is the correct answer, I suspect.
Agree with your assessment of the exterior design. Porsche rarely gets things wrong, and this is one of those rare exceptions.

Better aerodynamics. That's the main reason why they changed the front end. Btw I like the front end of the new Taycan as well. It looks a bit leaner and cleaner as compared to the organic old Taycan.
The centre screen is offset towards the passenger so you can see the whole thing when you're driving
Agree 100%, they "Model 3-ized" the Taycan
The charging port spat is the touch panel for the automated charge port. The pink car has a manual charge port, so no spat
i really love the old lights and front end
front fascia looks like it contains a couple more pieces of crudely shaped plastic, ode to BMW or borrowed from Audi?
Housing for gauge cluster is for head-up display.
I like both designs but I actually slightly prefer the new look.
Can you review the design of the BYD Seal.. is a very hype car currently.

I own the old with the sport design package, looks imho even nicer. Happy to own the old one, i dont like the new one at all.
The new exterior is good enough for a mainstream EV, not good enough for a Porsche. Imo it still looks decent but it lost it's head turning ability.

The old one looked a little mclareny to be honest. The new one looks a little more premium
The Turbo models have a different front end than the base model, it looks a bit more like the old one but just sharper
Does this mean a new Etron GT is coming too?
The turbo s vad alot of changes to the front and the rear

I originally didn’t like the headlights for gen 1, but this really makes me appreciate them more. It’s gives me Tesla Model 3 vibes
1:48 "its not that bad." That is like industry record right now 💀
Totally agree with you. Previous front end was money.
I feel exactly the same. Old one looks much better!! I will get the one after facelift comes out!

It looks more sleek and professional to me now with the redesign.
professional aka conservative? ugh
I think they dialed the taycan back because of the new cayman. The cayman is the beast, the taycan is the suit.
Who thought removing the cars best visual feature was a good idea??? 🤨
They totally fucked it up and it makes me sad

So this dude doesnt even drive the car and sitting on his chair assessing it. SMH. Title is misleading.
Fully agree, same thing with the new Model 3 front bumper and lights
Prefer the new design, both of the Base and the Turbo Version over the old Version. Both new designs correspond to that of the Macan, by the way.
The 2025 model looks like a flattened Porsche Macan.
What I have to say is they cant move them off UK dealer lots. Something about them isn't what it's cracked up to be.
The new Taycan has a much nicer front. The former looked a bit South Korean. I prefer the cleaner look, and the lower air resistance
Considering it still looks 98 percent as good ill prefer it since it has a lot more usable range. Will be a perfect daily with the 911 gt3 as the weekend car.

Wait till u see the taycan GT. It has a completely different rear end tail lights. Looks alot better imo
The facelift really makes me think Koenigsegg Gemera in the front, for some reason.
Comparing old Turbo to a new peasant version? Hm...
