You're the BEST teacher EVER. So extremely articulate. So extremely concise. You teach more in depth, useful skills than all other woodworkers I have seen - in such a short vid to boot! Your tutorials DEFINITELY provide confidence in my abilities.
Good on ya, Uncle Knackers. And I thank you with a grateful heart.

Great advice and tips for anyone starting out with routers.😉👍🏽
Those anti slip mats are awesome for many uses in the workshop,
but can lose their grip when the get too dusty, if this happens just wash them in warm soapy water,
rinse thoroughly and it'll be as good as new.

Have to say, the router is the scariest tool I own. Had one for ten years and never used it as too scary. Gave it away and a week later had to buy a new one for a one-off project. Hopefully after your tutorial it might see the light of day more ofter Thanks Uncle Quackers!

A trick for bent plug blades... Buy some cheap wall outlets. Here in the USA they can be found for $1-1.25 for a double plug. Then take your cut off wheel and make single plugs out of them and clean up the sharp edges. Now you can cover your blades safely while in storage for less than $0.75 each.

*One of my favorite woodworking tools **MyBest.Tools** Light and easy to maneuver. Noise level is a lot better than others I have tried. No cord makes it easy to grab and use. The clear base plate makes it easy to see ahead of what you are cutting. The electric brake is awesome. Glad to have this in my tool collection.*

Love your videos as always especially this one. Very helpful indeed. I'm surprised Makita or any other manufacturer have not taken the time to make it easier to change the bit and treat it just the same way you would do with an impact driver or an reciprocating saw; just insert the blade or bit in as it immediately locks into place and then you are good to go....

    • @diyforknuckleheads

On plugs, in the UK our 3 pins are stronger and would take some bending!

Great video Shane. Another way to remember which direction you are going is to put your Right Hand down on the table next to the project, as in your video the picture frame. Place your Thumb up against the edge of the frame any edge as long as it's the right hand, and look at your fingers, they are pointing in the direction to go on the outside. Do the same thing for inside the frame making sure that your right hand thumb is sitting against the frame, and again your fingers are pointing in the direction to go, if you draw an arrow for both you will see that the outside is anti clockwise and the inside is clockwise. Great tip Baz ha ha ha, oh and we call the smaller one a Trim Router.

Thanks for the video Knackers, I'm doing my kitchen cabinets soon which will be my first time routing.
I'll be making Shaker style cabinet doors with a tongue and groove join.
Will a hand held trim router be enough to do tongue and groove cuts in mdf or would you go something more powerful? I'll be making a router table (another video of yours) before I start this project.
Thanks and keep the videos coming!

Very well done. Easy to understand and follow. The safety tips are valuable. I am wondering if the cordless router can be used as a manual cnc machine. It is a matter of drawing the cuts on the plywood sheets and cutting accordingly.

@@captainbirdsi3502 sorry to burst your bubble but you will never see a toilet spinning backward in the land down under......our toilet bowls are not filled with water like yours..... a small amount of water sits in the bottom and when you flush water runs in and washes away. Hence no spinning just a lot of agitating water......but if you do make it over, l can always fill the sink and you can watch that.....as for the drop bears - we had to add then into the mix because the rumour of the deadly spiders and snake just wont keeping enough tourists away
