Will be entering the competition but regardless I will be there! Lovely to see so many great little engines running together! I had an Alfa Romeo 33 1.5ie and that kicked out serious black moisture when it was cold. Didn't realise until I had to clean my grandma's garage door!
I love foxAnne her engine fitting was the pinnacle of hubnut to me, that series was the linchpin that drew me in more on top of your reviews. She's probably groaning from being left, can't wait to see her get some love just a shame times changed and have made it unlikely it will enable doing it yourself as that's what makes the channel great.
I know the answer to the question (not giving it away), but unfortunately I am here in New York State and I hate flying! I wish the others best of luck in the competition! Olga the Oltcit is simply BEGGING for a run, that could be one of the reasons why she is difficult, but then again, most of your vehicles are difficult in their behaviour. Makes for an interesting life! I'm still wearing shorts as it is still warm here as well. Enjoy the warm weather while you can, and cannot wait to see what footage you will get at the NEC!
Be thankful about the weather in the UK. Today in Wellington NZ I’ve had to put the central heating back on, after ceremoniously turning it off on Sunday. And I used the seat heaters in the car both ways - haven’t done that in about a month!
I had a similar fuel issue with one of my old car's, sometimes it would run sometimes it wouldn't start, found a small split in the rubber fuel pipe under the car, the tiny split would let air in when you tried to start it as the fuel had run back to the tank, also really worth checking the sender unit and pick up pipe as they can get really gummed up with sitting around, great video thanks
Entered 💪🏻 last time I went was also 2018 and I had the pleasure of sitting in TWC. Certainly a car I’d never think of getting the opportunity to even see nevermind sit in 😁
I remember watching your last videos from that show and I’d love to go. I have plenty of vacation time but I’d need to plan things better if I was going to hop over to England and do more than just this show.
Looks like fun times. Unfortunately there is a certain salt water pond preventing me from participating. Still, I live vicariously through the channel. Well done, Ian.
The Reliant engine was probably the reason they stayed in business as long as they did as it was such a good engine very robust never seemed to matter how much abuse and neglect they suffered they still started and ran
Maybe the membrane in the fuelpump of the Oltcit can't handle the ethanol in modern gasoline? If you keep having issues with fuelpumps failing consider installing an aftermarket electric pump specifically designed for carburetor fed engines. The brand FACET makes those. You can power it from the coil so it'll only work when the ingnition is switched on. It'll make starting after longer periode of non-use a lot easier because the electric pump will fill the carb very quickly.
Hi Ian, Looks like you got Our Weather and we got yours..! Living in Sth. Australia and it Pissing Cats, Dogs and a Few Parrots, in Not so Sunny Seaford S.Aust. Great Video. I don't need Tickets, but my Guess is Twk or Tuk for first Classic...?? 😎 P.s. in the 1970s I lived in Benfleet Essex and would see the Invacar's Occasionally. Made nearby I believe..!? Cheers All..!! 😎
Classic car Jenga! You make it we’ll watch it! 🤣 I think that it’s excellent that you have room to stretch all their legs rather than just warming them up at idle which is sooo bad for engines.
Hiya Ian. Couple of things - the groan in Foxanne sounds a bit like a clutch (aka viscous coupling) fan unit packing up, although I don't know if she has one. Her fan blades seemed to stutter and slow in the video each time the groan appeared though. With the Oltcit's lack of fuel problem returning - should she have a vented fuel cap? If so, try taking the current fuel cap off afyer she's not run for a few days and cranking for a bit to get fuel through to the carb (if you've not tried this before). Sometimes the wrong cap can be put on (or the vent clogs) and you suddenly get enough vacuum to stop the pump working (or not working initially), but it wont always make a sucking noise when you take the cap off if it bled off somewhere. In these cases, taking the cap off will tell you. Alternately, maybe fit a low pressure electric one and be done with it??! Would love to come and see the show, but there's a small logistical snag from my location. I know the answer to the question though! A wee bit scary too - I realised I had already been watching your channel for some time when you were LAST preparing to go to the NEC Classic! Wow! Many thanks for the entertainment for the past three-plus years, mate. It's been an interesting journey, hasn't it?
I think Foxanne's water pump is dry, so it's binding a bit (hence the fan slowing down). Actually easier to see on the camera than in real life thanks to the refresh rate! Oltcit fuel cap was removed to refuel, so not likely to be the issue here.
Going by train sounds like a fine idea. Last time I tried to drive to the English midlands was an absolute debacle when Gloria the Transit threw a con rod through the side of the crankcase on the M6 just north of Carlisle. She limped all the way up the A7 as far as Eskbank just south of Edinburgh. She was down to two cylinders towards the end when another conrod gave up at Fala Hill... Sad times!
To avoid the expensive NEC car parking fee, in the past I've parked for free as far away as Coventry and travelled by train for about £3 off-peak return.
The more I see the Oltcit the more I want one and yet it's funny I never had that feeling about the Visa because I normally prefer the 4 door version of any car.
I think actually getting the engine and exhaust fully hot might dry it out. Revving the nuts off it without loading the engine properly will add to the issue rather than help clear it out.
Two tickets? But I have no friends!! :P As for the cars, alternator or water pump bearing in foxanne, you can see through the shutter roll how the fan slows down when the bearing honks, but if the fox is off to someone for farmed out work, it's just something for the list... :P
The last time you were there was the year you were next to the Aston Martin stand? That was 3 years ago?? Time is flying by. Seems hardly any time since I first saw you in the Montego test drive and immediately subscribed. Been a lot of happenings since! 👍🏻
Finally catching up today as this is the last one to watch. I like this kind of videos! And I cannot stress enough how much I like Foxanne! The groaning noise is just Foxanne crying for help I think. Haha no, it indeed sounds a bit like a bearing. Could it be that is disappears when you depress the clutch? Perhaps check that?
Having watched your channel for a long time I feel somewhat silly I haven't a clue what the competition answer is. Wish I could get there anyway. Is that your tree behind the land rover that's Mark's??
13:20 Tati vreau să fac pipi - that's Romanian for "Daddy, I need a wee-wee". I hope Ottilie the Oltcit feels better now, children and old(er) cars are prone to such moments... 😊. 8:12 "Can I reach? No, I can't, I'll have to get a small child to". Harks back to Victorian mill owners getting children to retrieve bits from beneath weaving looms 🤣. Love the video!
Can I ask what that green looking Anne Summers Toy is next to the washing machine outside in the video . You can see this more when you pulled Fox Anne out 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍

What happened? You parked Foxanne with the handbrake on and did not use a scotch. The cars could be parked a bit closer together but then would have to be moved in the reverse order of parking, not ideal. Just like the buses were at the garage, only 3 inches apart, if not run out in the right order a bit of shunting around was required before it was even possible to do the vehicle check let alone getting in, unless climbed over the wing or bonnet of the one beside. Didn't work if an OMO. Might see you at the NEC if EuroLines are up and running again. Too far to drive these days.
I think I may know the issue with foxane. If you look the fan belt look like it is slipping. I may be wrong and it is matching up with the fps but I thought I would mention it. Look at 8:52
Sadly, the show organiser's decision to hike up the entry price means that this is a "NO" to this year's event and subsequent years if their pricing remains un-realistic, which is a shame as it has been an enjoyable event in the past.
NEC motor show = exorbitant ticket + parking rates, and no room to move on the busy days. It is a good show, but a miserable place which is poorly lit. Good luck whoever wins the tickets though. 🤞
Enjoyed seeing the old favorites woken up and brought out into the sun. I can't wait to see TWC at the NEC!
What a difference a bit of sun makes. You are looking full of beans in this one and it is good to see.
Just got a fresh MOT, so while I'm still feeling lucky, I've entered the competition. Win or lose, I'll be at the NEC to see Ian & TWC. 🙂

Drive the Oltcit around the farm for an hour and the engine and exhaust will evaporate the water.
Just submitted my entry for the NEC Comp, fingers crossed....good to see Foxanne and TWC getting out, but poor Foxanne groaning away.

My fiat produces lots of condensation from the exhaust, it's just how they were. Cheap tinny exhaust so it rots quite well ☹
Mini Hubnut is the obvious one of the drone, who wouldn't want to play with that at his age.
Definitely a dry bearing that is crying on Foxanne. Could be the alternator if its not the waterpump

Foxanne's fan looked to be barely turning so maybe the fan belt is totally slack, hence the squawk. Not tightened after the water pump was fitted?
I have tightened it, but it did look like it was binding a bit and causing the belt to slip. Tension is good.
