Wonderful to see our motoring heritage safe in the hands of the delightful young man and mature beyond his years. My first car at 15 was a ' 37 & ' 38 Ruby which were rebuilt to make one decent car that became my first 50 years ago, and thought I was a pioneer at such a young age but relinquish that mantle to young Henry - good on him !.
Fantastic video Ian, as I lay in bed ill..... You made me laugh with the SS Comment, you made me cry watching little Henry and his enthusiasm for his little Ruby and also the soundoff was just magical at the end.
I think young Henry summed up, in one line, what is so good about classic cars and so wrong with modern cars. We should all be driving around in Austin Sevens or Trabis or, indeed, Reliants!
The orange and green cars @ 9.55 are an Adams Probe 16 (orange) and a Probe 2001 (green). The orange car is the actual car used in a Clockwork Orange where it was called the Durango 95. They're not prototypes, although they only made three Probe 16s and five Probe 2001s. My old school friend Jon Bentley from The Gadget Show posted a video on FB of him getting into the 2001, with its electric lifting seats allowing access through the roof.
A shout out to the BBC cameramen who travalled along bumpy grassy knolls to bring us footage of the steeds of racing travelling around 40mph,must have been difficult to keep the camera still.
Great coverage Hubnut!Great show as well! It's nice to see that the younger generations show interest and appreciate the sweat, love and home engineering that keep these wonderful machines together.Geat job.
Th Marcos 'prototypes' were actually Adams Brother's Probe 16s. The Adams brothers had worked for Marcos earlier. One of these cars starred in A Clockwork Orange.
wow what a great finale to an amazing show. Love the fact Henry has owned Ruby since he was 9 thats amazing! Start em young :-) As always great knowledge of so many varied cars Ian,,
Ahh the Classic Ford Cortina Lotus. Brings back memories of my Youth. My Mate Peter owned one, put it in a Hedge soon after Getting it. Then Got it all back up, fixed and Running and within weeks managed to do the Same thing Again but so badly it was un repairable. He was fine un hurt, but his Heart was Broken..! Having been a year younger than Peter, I was Learning to Drive at the Time. I learnt not to Drive like a Nutter. It doesn't pay off..! Great Video Loved the Young Chap at the End. Will be Googling 'Henrys Ruby's' Asap..! Great Video Ian Thank you. Cheers All. Kim in Oz. 😎
My first car was a pale blue Consul Cortina estate, with the fake wood paneling bought in 79 for £110. It had a 1500cc engine, column gear change with front bench seats, giving it that American vibe.Sadly engine seized whilst a mate was using it, didn't have the skill set or facilities to repair it. So nice to see a live one at the NEC, cheers Ian.
Marvellous, couldn't really afford this here or make the time but it's marvellous to see these walk throughs - I get the feeling I see *more* due to not being in the crowds
That orange transit dormobile took me back. As a student in the late eighties working for Grampian council in the summer they still had some on the fleet and driving along with the doors open was great.
Ian - you would probably like my nephews T37 Bugatti - it has a Holden motor in it as it had when it finished racing. It was an Australian grand prix car. he does have a Bugatti motor that he can put in if he wishes.
Awesome, so much to see! Thank you for a great show report, I Ioved the Ford hall and the young enthusiast is brilliant. More of the that and the future is bright indeed. Thank you again, I sure hope to see you in a Wells sometime in 2023✌
I've seen so many of these shows and cannot see the 1975 Dodge Colt GS in any shows, would really love to see those cars...I had one of them in the mid 80's and really loved those cars... I'm still hopeful
Excellent walk around videos, showed me a lot of stuff I completely missed on Sunday! Mainly as I spent far too much time and money over with Sporting Bears, my must-do at the show whenever I make it. Sat here watching it with a brew in my new HubNut mug. Think you were just as shocked a a few of us were that we had to queue at your stand to buy anything, didn't queue anywhere else at the show 🤣 Worked though as I bought a TWC model too.
Hi Ian, thanks for the walkabout. I was drawn to many of the cars the same as you were, but you showed plenty I missed completely. I thought the John Surtees BMW was lovely and the details on the Bugattis and the Maserati racing cars were absolutely fascinating. It was nice to see you and Tim even if only briefly. Mart.
The orange concept car on the Marcos stand is a Probe 16 - one of three. One (not sure if it's the one on display) was used in the Clockwork Orange movie, where it was called the Durango 95. It's got a B-Series engine, although how they fitted that big cast-iron lump in the streamlined bodyshell is a mystery.
4:20 Not a one off, just quite rare with just over 400 built. It was the Coupé/Cabriolet version of the 501 'Baroque Angel' but was outshone by the contemporary and achingly gorgeous 507. John Surtees had one of them as well. I don't know about the 503 but the 507 was a present from Count Agusta for John winning a world championship on an MV.
Absolutely marvelous! Loving those quirky Marcos-concepts - looks like something Matchbox would have sold back when I was a kid in the mid 70s. You should try fo find out more about them and make some video about it! The Stratoses (Stratii?) all of them - just wow! So many wonderful cars - and you sure picked the right spot for the horn crescendo at the end of the show, close to the US police-cars 😅 To be fair, the show reminds me of those dreams you may have, were there is just more and more and more new stuff in an seemingly infinite number of new rooms... amazing!
My dad once owned a Fiat 132 (Supermiriafiori,, I don't know if that was an official name) in the same colour as the one in this video. I know I haven't seen one for a while, but I didn't know they were rare.
Ian you walked passed the fabulous and very famous Mk1 Granada/ Consul GT Sweeney Car the Jack Regan with George Carter , you didn’t mention it it was the famous and fabulous TV series in the 1970s. 15.00 on your video
You as always know your stuff Ian.Why you don't get head hunted i don't know. Unless you have and told talent scouts where to go. I introduced my 84year old Mum to your channel and she recalls cars Dad had before they got married. A daimler/Jaguar sp250 was his favourite car.
"NHK 295M" Ford Consul 3.0GT on the Police stand in Hall 8 is the original Sweeney car, I didn't even know that thing still existed!! The Fiesta Supersport made me drool, wanted one in the late 80's/early 90's as a youngster but never got one, IMO looked better than the XR2 and Nova SR.
I did say when going round "I wonder why they dropped the SS name" 😅 Didn't even get to halls 1,2 or 8 which was a shame as hall 1 had 3 clubs of cars I own! Next year is a spread it over 2 days for me.
Just a note Hubnut that no Chevrolet/Chevy vans were ever sold in Australia post-1945. Holdens assembled Bedford vans until 1981, when Isuzu vans took over.
I like how the Ruby seems perfectly to scale with its delightful young owner standing next to it.
Wonderful to see our motoring heritage safe in the hands of the delightful young man and mature beyond his years. My first car at 15 was a ' 37 & ' 38 Ruby which were rebuilt to make one decent car that became my first 50 years ago, and thought I was a pioneer at such a young age but relinquish that mantle to young Henry - good on him !.
i just watched a 1971 film with George c Scott where he was a get away driver who had a BMW 503 !!
That finish always brings a tear to the eye - Old cars will never die there are too many enthusiasts to let that happen
No amount of enthusiasts can overcome your bonkers unhinged UK government ☹
@@AnyoneSeenMikeHunt True, perhaps... but we'll drive the damn things illegally if we are forced to 😂
Brilliant show as always, one day I may make it there. Thanks for the tour , Great to see Henry and Ruby we need more Henry's in this world.
Thanks for some great video's Mr HubNut especially for those of us who can't make it for one reason or anther, so a big 👍 from us.
Magnificent video! I see young Henry as next generation Hubnut! I think he could have a lot of success as a UA-camr 😀👍🏻
It's a pity he didn't show us the engine.
We had so little time. I filmed that interview, then legged it to Hall 5 for the horn crescendo!
NHK 295M: Straight out of The Sweeney!
Unfortunately missed by Ian...
“We’re the Sweeney and we haven’t had any breakfast” Ford Consul GT not a Granada😎👍
Brilliant to get a look around before the crowds. Henry and his Ruby brought a tear to the eye. Very special.
Fantastic video Ian, as I lay in bed ill..... You made me laugh with the SS Comment, you made me cry watching little Henry and his enthusiasm for his little Ruby and also the soundoff was just magical at the end.

Wonderful coverage and I am shocked about how much I missed. Too much to see in a day. Lesson learned for next year!
Henry very special young man!
Were there not many Datsons?
I'd love to have a sit on the back seat of a 1979 Datson Violet again
Sadly, the Datsun Owners Club UK never seems to put a display on. I'm not sure it's really an official club, so maybe that's why.

That BMW 700 reminded me of my Triumph Herald which was also designed by Michelotti 😁
The metallic purple Ford's look amazing, underated colour
I had a fiat strada abarth 105tc in 1985 .I loved that car lovely to see one again thanks 😊

The BWW 700 does looks very like a stretched Daf 44. I was the owner of a 1972 Daf 44 back in the 1970’s, my first car.
Thank you so much for the walk around. Magnificent cars throughout the show. Well adone Ian.
Thanks Ian brilliant as usual. The Marcos models look very much like the cars from Gerry Anderson UFO
Lovin this. Our next door neighbour had a zephyr for years until he updated (sic) to a 1970's Fairmont. You know where I live 🙂

There was a very obscure TV drama series with Stephen Fry playing a solicitor. He drove an Alvis, and I think it was Stephen Fry's own car.

another great video has always Ian and miss hubnut and hublets and hubmutts 👍
The chevy vans we didn't get in Australia more like New Zealand, we only had transits and Bedford's.
Great Final video from Hubnut on the NEC Classic Car Show. Great content as always, I especially enjoyed the Horn & Sirens at the end of the Show.
