This is s typical hunt for 80 percent of hunters. Good see one that gives and honest preview of what its like for most public land hunters on foot. Most video's on youtube are not realistic of what most hunters face. You guys had a realistic hunt of what most people experience elk hunting in Montana on public land.
You have a consistent theme of picking harder/less quality hunts, do you enjoy the grind over success ? Genuinely curious as you make it harder than it has to be.
How much time and planning did you have into this trip? It sounds like you’re from another part of the country, that had to be hard on the constitution to make a trip like that just to be looking at an area devoid of life?

With how full your packs were how were you expecting to get an elk out of there? Did you have a packer lined up?
Nobody is one tripping an elk out

You guys worked hard! I've hunted closer to the trailhead in that area and didn't see much -- saw two moose fighting was all.

Unfortunately Yellowstone borders has been over hunted for years due to huge bull harvest in years past. Plenty of other better areas.
