    At ~4:26 you can see a large, mature bull move through the woods over the right side (left shoulder) of Brad.
    I think they stopped bugling because they saw you ;)

    Man - made my night seeing this pop up on my feed. I’m Colorado bound in 4 weeks from today. Been training all year (per usual). Rest assured, Mr. Brad - my Argali 4 person will be housing my buddy and me, and my Serac will be close at hand should the Good Lord give us a bugling wink! You’re my top guy to emulate in the elk woods - so deliberate and so patient. Thoroughly soak in all your work. :).

    I will take a 'raghorn' any day over a monster bull, some of the very best meat on the planet!! That meat will absolutely melt in your mouth, and that is a nice set of antlers to hang on any office wall, dark brown, some of the best colored antlers come from our great state of Wyoming, and the best meat of all!!

    What a first day and way to capitalize on a great opportunity that came in hot and fast! Did you guys take a meant load when you went back for the Llamas?

    • @Argali
      @Argali  Рік тому +2

      We did. The elk dies in a nasty spot and we ended up having to pack the meat a ways to a place we could get the llamas to.

    • @kyle6770
      @kyle6770 Рік тому

      @Argali I saw that nasty spot but didn't see a quarter go out when it cut to the Llama trek back! Great to know and cannot wait for season 2023 to start!!! Good luck this year!

    Great work fellas, enjoyed the ride! Anyone know the name of that small-leaf ground cover vegetation prominent in many of the shots, including right where the bull piled up? I see it in parts of Idaho also. Thanks!

      Update: believe that's Grouse Whortleberry. It often grows in combination with huckleberry bushes. It's a dwarf shrub that grows under evergreen forests throughout the Rockies. It's related to huckleberries and produces a small berry that grouse feed on.

    • @SkyLinesFishbiteMedia
      @SkyLinesFishbiteMedia Рік тому

      Yes yes yes that's it! I've always just called it ground huckleberry but knew that wasn't quite right. Love it thanks@@Argali!

    I am renting two llamas this year for a wilderness elk hunt. Any llama tips? My plan is to debone the rear quarters and take 2 trips to pack them out. Will be in anywhere from 2 to 8 miles. What caused the llamas to take the tumble?

    • @Argali
      @Argali  Рік тому

      We've used them for many years and the biggest thing you can do is make sure you're getting good pack stock from a reputable place. aside from that, packing them properly, keeping pack saddles appropriately tight, even weight on paniers, etc is important. The spill was caused by a young llama that got jumpy on a narrow trail and then dragged the other llama with him. A seasoned llama wouldn't have had issues.

    Great vid as always, Brad! I’m curious what you typically have in your pack when you’re hiking/hunting during the day? Can’t wait to use my Argali gear (trekking poles, Serac knife, belt and game bags) on deer/bear/moose hunts this Fall.

    • @Argali
      @Argali  Рік тому

    Great video, except for two things. We didn't see the elk at the shot, I'd much rather see the elk, than the elk hunter, and the Llama wreck wasn't recorded. Both rather key elements, IMO. Congrats on a great DYI hunt!

    • @Argali

      really wish we had the llama wreck on camera but it was a surprise when it happened and the camera wasnt rolling! And agreed on the elk shot. Was just an unfortunate setup.

    I dont understand why on most all your films u keep it a secret as to what state you are hunting and will never mention the state in your videos especially when u are hunting ur own state of Idaho, but when u come over here to my state you make sure n tell ur entire platform u are hunting Wyoming... I dont agree with that at all, but oh well because fortunately for us Natives you NRs are really starting to have a tough time drawing tags here, so u most likely wont even draw another general here for 4-6 years
