ok i did the same test..thank you however .i changed mine out but your not giving the cause of the issue why the alternator is not charger. .i literally changed it out yesterday and my batteries are still draining
I actually have an issue as such. I have the 2 wire connector and only the orange FLD wire and the large red exist. The stator wire terminal is missing! I was looking at wiring diagrams and according to that both should go to the voltage regulator and the red fld wire does and there is a green on the stator. Someone had an old white jumper wire laying free and idk where it should go.
my 2012 mazda has a ford charginf system..I'm trying to figure out if it PCM controlled or not ..It has two wires going to the alternator plug plus one wire going to the battery/starter
What exactly is a "Non-PCM Modulated Regulator" .. I am going to change my alternator on my 2003 expedition 4.6 I did not remove the old one yet .. I called 3 different dealership gave them vin I was told my vehicle could take the 110amp or 130amp.. I am looking to replace it with 130 Amp Non-PCM Modulated Regulator. Any advise would be appreciated
It took a while but one of my friends from Ford help me find the problem passenger side fender there is a wire that a mouse war creature chewed on almost like a fusible link they chewed it and it wasn’t charging took care of it took a while but we found it
ive been having a battery drain issue and this morning both batteries and the alternator were warm after being shut off all night. Would you say bad alternator?
btw i fired up the truck and pulled the pos terms (7.3) and it shut down..so in two days ive changed starter and alt.. but I'm not finding a cause..TIA
please help i have an 04 escape, the 2 wire plug going to the alternator only 1 is getting voltage 1 is constant and the other is key on voltage (i believe) its not getting voltage. any clue why it wouldnt?
Hey man , Im only getting 11.25 on both input plug wires . Would this be a bad alt. or a bad cable ? getting 12.28 and 14.58 running . Truck has brand new batteries and slow starting.
Hey, I have an 03 Expedition, check charging system comes on at start then will g off after driving for 20 or more min surface charge on battery is 12.29.. load charge in idle is 14.3.. is this a sign of bad alternator or regulator,, which is built in alternator
Anyone, I tested these fields wires on alternator and the red shows 00 but the brown shows 12.6 volts with motor on so I dont think PCM is closing the ground to cause alternator to charge.
I have dead alternator on 98 ford f150 4.2 L. Before I remove it I dont see a single electrical connector? only have large electric connector and e terminal to battery. Is it possible?
I have the same problem....non pcm......97 ford E350 van....new alternator did not fix the problem.......omh'd all wiring and no problem......checked all fuses and no problem........had alternator tested and no problem......ran new wiring and no problem......still won't charge......I am at a loss......anyone with any ideas ???
Please help I have an 04 escape the 2 wire plug going to the alternator is only getting voltage to 1 wire which is constant. the other is suposed to be key on voltage but its not getting this. what could cause this. battery light no longer comes on at any time.
My 2003 still no charge new alternator used alternator new fuse link used one too no charge good fuse box replace with 2 used ones test mo charge no power on pigtail to alternator conecction computer? Problem?
This totally feels like cheating. I just worked on a 2012 f150 with the alternator on bottom next to the oil filter. Finding access was 75% of the job.
Have a problem with my 7.3 power stroke. I'm getting 11.7 while running and I did the first test you did (key on engine off neg lead on battery neg and + on alt wire) and I get nothing?? Now what..
That wire connects to the battery. It should show battery voltage all the time. Either the wire has a bad connection, it's broken or it has a fusible link (should have one) that has "blown" (like a fuse blows). This is the wire that the alternator uses to charge the battery.
my gf 98 frontier isnt charging, the plug that has the two wires i can see a huge voltage drop on the wire that goes to the warning lamp it can barely light the test light/cant light 3amp bulb at all. seeing as this wire is 12v with engine on and is used to throw the warning lamp how could this be the issue?its the best lead i have to the problem as theres a voltage drop for sure i just dont get why the alt needs it?
My customer changed both batteries and alternator, truck stopped charging and now when I check the alt. exciter wire on control connector has voltage with key ON or OFF, I believe the batteries were charging until parked at night, the constant exciter voltage damaged the alt and it no longer charges, where does the exciter signal come from?
My power source was same at battery 12.51. but the second input was 11.96 on one side and 12.51 on the other. I have a whining noise that has gotten worse and a bad burning smell when I start it. Car alarm also goes off randomly. Battery is 12.52 and goes down to 9 on start then back up to 14. When car running - 14 volts hooked up to alternator. Voltage drop I got 50. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated

I did that test on one of the wires on that plug one of my wires doesn't have voltage any clues
Did you find out the problem? Have the same issue. Only one pin showing a charge.
Get a wiring diagram and find out where it's coming from and test it there.

Alt charging and alt plug off?!
On this video if you say regulator is built in the alternator then what is the PCM doing??
The pcm is not interacting with the alternator at all on non pcm controlled vehicles.
@@FordTechMakuloco would you know if 2011 town and country interacts with alt? because I am not getting voltage on one of the fields from the PCM

So-o-o... WHAT is the cause of not charging????...
You missed the whole point of the video - to determine the reason the battery does not get charge!
Why would my cause for failure have anything to do with your failure point.
