    I have two of the 45 watt kits hooked up in series...they work great off of snow glare...my 90 watts of panels were putting out 86 watts during the winter storm...oh PS the snow melted off these faster than my other 4 mono panels...so unless its covered by thick snow itll still charge...we got 7 inches of snow and I just brushed one swipe at the bottom, the top never got any on it until it got below zero degrees...they actually put out more in the cold.

      I didn't explain properly...those are hooked in parallel with four 100 watt panels which are in series/parallel...and I have 8 batteries but as you say I may get 2 more before AC season...I did add 2 batteries last week already...now is that as clear as mud, as we say here?

    • @davidpotter9462

      @@douglaswindsor120 I think it is a pwm ...I got more amps when I hooked them up with the Epever 4215 ....it was over $200 but it's 99.7% efficient...I got the 40 amp because it can handle 1000 watts of panels and I'll have that many someday but for now I get as much as my panels can make...you might not need one that big, the smaller amp ones are somewhat cheaper...I bought a cheap controller at first for 20 something bucks but I only used it for a couple of weeks...when I changed to 24 volts I got the good one...from what I'm hearing the cheaper ones work fairly well with small wind turbines so that's next...at least I can still use it for something...

    Pauliojr , have you messed around with the charge controller settings where it offers options for the batteries you have? It displays initials and the only one that I know what they stand for is *gel*. I have a marine deep cycle battery and want to have the right settings for. Can't afford to burn up a battery.
    Thank you I'm advance, SR

    I have been watching just about every UA-cam video on this Harbor Freight 100W solar setup. Only a few of the videos measure the current output of the panels. The only ones that do measure the DC current from the panels show a maximum output of around 4.5 to 4.9 amp. Using Ohm's Law makes it a 50-60W panel setup, not 100W. I've yet to see any video showing more than 4.9 amps under optimum conditions. I'd be interested if anyone has gotten more out of these panels.

    • @max0r4axor
      @max0r4axor 3 роки тому +6

      if you measure the open circuit voltage of the panels they are between 20 to 24 volts. The charge controller regulates the voltage down to a usable voltage for charging batteries etc. but the raw output of the panels without the charge controller is right at 100 watts sometimes its slightly more.

    • @pauliojr
      @pauliojr  2 роки тому

      Voltage X Amps= Watts. DC and AC are ALMOST the same as far as this goes. So together, those items would be 120 Watts total. With 1 Deep Cycle Battery & and at LEAST a 500 or 1000 Watt Inverter would do the trick. Check the links out in the description. Good luck!

    how do you connect the inside computer to this? Basically want to use if we lose internet.

    • @pauliojr
      @pauliojr  2 роки тому

      You would use a Power Inverter that would hook up to the batteries. You can pretty much use AC/DC Wattage as equals. If you're computer needs say 500 Watts, I would recommend a 750 Watt Inverter minimum or a 1500 Watt to be safe. I believe I have 2 in the description.

    Can you use the outputs (USB & Light plugs) without being hook to a battery, but being powered straight from the solar panels?

    • @dice8907
      @dice8907 3 роки тому

      Good question but no you can’t electricity needs to be regulated and stored by controller.

    • @carlosmendoza831
      @carlosmendoza831 2 роки тому +3

      The controller turns on only when its plugged in to a 12V battery. So it would not be able to send power to the controller outputs without a battery.

    How long will a light bulb run without recharging the battery?

    • @shelbyburgey884
      @shelbyburgey884 2 роки тому

      I think that depends on the type of battery and the amp hour rating of your battery. The led bulbs that come with the kit draws 1 amp.

    I am having so much trouble connecting the inverter Jupiter that has 1000 Watts into a 100 watt thunderbolt magnum I litterly only had my game system and tv on for probably an hour in increments and then it crashed waiting on your upload how to correctly plug in and use the inverter

      My inverter won’t even light up

    • @Snow-cp5ji
      @Snow-cp5ji 2 роки тому

      The 1000 watt inverter needs at least 2 batteries to run correctly, and is EXTREMELY overpowered for what you are running. I run my PS4 pro, my 32 inch Roku tv, and a fan on a Jupiter 140 watt inverter. That 1000 watt inverter draws a lot of amps and is meant for power tools and appliances like 500 watt heaters, or a washer, or fridge. Hooking a 1000 watt inverter to a 100 watt charge controller will not work. You don't hook the inverter to the charge controller. Take the 1000 watt inverter back and get either a 140 or 400 watt one. And 100 watts won't charge your batteries enough to run it either. It will charge enough to run a 100 to 150 watt inverter on a single battery

    After you describe the 5 different options on the display of the controller you then go on at the end of video to muffle through the fact that the battery will not get overcharged if left connected to the panels.
    Isn't that the Boost setting on the display that does that and sets that protection?
    You would be best off describing that fact when you were on the Boost setting earlier in the video rather than muffling through it at the end of the video.
    It is called "Topic Encasement". Rule 1 of effective tutorials.
    Explaining things once in a video and the again later on in another manor gets confusing. Says the viewer to themselves, "is he talking about what he already talked about earlier in the video or is it something else?"

    • @Snow-cp5ji
      @Snow-cp5ji 2 роки тому +1

      Quit whinging and make your own video then. This isnt a Hollywood production and you aren't named Ebert. No, it is not the boost setting, The boost setting is the voltage setting that sets the voltage output to the battery for fast charging. Use your next paycheck to buy a clue
