This is so fun. I remember in an early video you said something along the lines of "This band would be in trouble if it lost one of its singers.". And I thought to myself, "boy just wait till he hears all of them." 😂
The band absolutely kills it man, the sounds they are shredding that you can pick up are insane. It all comes together so well, skilled players and no need to say anything about Matt that hasn’t already been said!
This was the first DGD song i ever heard and its my favorite Kurt era DGD song and in my all time top 5 for DGD. Everyone kills it on this song. I love when Kurt comes in for the first time, that riff is so damn good and matches his voice perfectly. The outro is sick with Jon and Kurt both going off to end it. Kurt is one of my favorite vocalists, a couple other projects/bands hes done are- A Lot Like Birds, Gold Necklace, Royal Coda (peak form Kurt imo).
Also, all of the early album lyrics are written by each vocalist separately and without knowledge of the others 😂☠️ Jonny Craig and Jon are a perfect example of this, counter-intuitive lyrics that make no sense but work together purely based on sound
Can you please check out Wolf & Bear they have some bangers and are under the will swans record label. They have a similar sound to Dance Gavin Dance and Hail The Sun. some great songs to listen to: Sight Twisted Tongues Amrillaria Mellea Different Fires Lifeguard Deleto Street Rat
It’s absolutely based on the basketball player… “Downtown Battle Mountain” 1 & 2 are based straight off the small town/area “Battle Mountain” in Colorado by Boulder…. If memory serves me correct, it is also where they recorded most of the first album.
Kurt is my personal favorite maybe thats because nostalgia but if im being honest its because his lyrics resonate with me the most.
love these dgd reactions
Today has been a hell of a treat. Songs from two of my favorite albums. Love it.
You should deffs check out 'Rock Solid' on this same album. One of my favorite Intro/Outros from any of their songs.
deathstar is peak, peak.

You’re GODDAMN RIGHT, the Denver Nugget!
Kurt Travis is the best, in my opinion

It’s 100% named after the basketball player
Check out "People You Know". Jon goes HAM and turkey in that song.

THREE DGD videos in one day..... still not enough lol Keep em coming 👍
Death Star will always be a top 3 DGD album for me. At least, unless they top Jackpot Juicer. 🤘
I miss team Kurt and Jon.
