Tilian truly has a gorgeous falsetto - and if I recall correctly, this song in particular is about Tilian's experience with his dad being a Scientologist. Glad y'all enjoyed the song!
The art is done by swedish artist Mattias Adolfsson. There is a whole series of videos in that artstyle that should be watched in this order: Young Robot, Son of Robot, Death of a Robot and then Stroke God, Millionaire. As always, loved your reactions! Cheers from Sweden
Hey. They have their own animation universe. This video contained moments from past videos. Therefore, if you want to get acquainted with their animated history, then watch the clips for the following songs: Stroke God, Millionaire - 2015 Young Robot - 2016 Inspire The Liars - 2016 - you are here :) Son of Robot - 2018 (but in this song there will be references to other clips outside the animation universe, but these are kind of spin-offs, not necessary to watch, haha) List of these spin-offs: * Midnight Crusade - 2018 * Betrayed By The Game - 2016 * Strawberry Swisher, Pt. 3 - 2013 And the last video on the list for the song - Death Of The Robot With Human Hair - 2013 By the year I marked the release time of the album, which includes the track
This song, at least that´s how i understand it, deals with the false Securaty of Religon. How Religion can lure you in and hold you down. I think i read somewhere that this Song was written cause Tillian´s Father was or is Part of Scientology or something. i could be wrong though.
Honestly the 2 of you have made it so I not only love music but it's just a whole different level for me simply because it's awesome to be able to enjoy it, get another perspective and I always learn something, even if it's rather useless info. (Kidding) y'all make it better. Just sayin thank you. Oh, also never a dull moment, not even on your other channels. ❤️
Hell yeah! Mothership is definitely one of my favorite albums, also y'all should peep the lyrics to this video when you have a chance, it makes the video make a bit more sense and Jon has some great lines in there. If you're looking for more swancore I would recommend checking out the band Hail The Sun.
I believe the religious themes in this song are because Tilian's dad was a scientologist, and from memory that's the whole spaceship thang at the end with the lyrics talking about starting a religion and blinding people, or something. Great song either way, this album is probably one of their best IMO
Also you need to do all of the robot videos for those references to make sense. The order goes "Death of the robot with human hair", "stroke, god, millionaire", "young robot", and "son of robot".
This song is partly about Tilian going against his father's religion that I think he tried to push Tilian to do . I believe the "let's start a religion " part was related.
You can't even imagine the shit that goes on with guitars and everything on this album. Great reaction, always looking forward to seeing some DGD from you guys
The first album I heard from DGD was mothership (was recommended to be my first listen) and after falling in love with arguably the best album, inspire the liars is the best song on the album hands down! Still top 3 tracks in my list (although I have 50 tracks in my top 3 tied lol)
I love the smile Kyle gets every time Jon just appears. That being said, this band is wonderful, and I really hope to see some future reacts to their new stuff when they have a fully confirmed new clean vocalist!
GUYS. Pls. you absolutely need to react to "here comes the winner." By DGD Seriously, this song has one of the most impressive vocal sections have ever heard by a man, let alone two. Pleeeease. You will not regret it.
This is also the first album that they let tillian get gravelly with his vocals because everything before this was strictly clean. Best decision they ever made!
gotta do prisoner at some point, its more of the same but also very different, much like many of their other songs. it has always been at the top of my spotify most listened too
Swancore for lyfe!!! DGD is great and a lot can be said when they can plug any amazing voice like, Tilian and Jonny, and still be legendary. Swan I bow down to you sir, we would have great band like Stolas or Hail the Son. Sucks that ego get in the way with some individuals and kinda ruins a good thing. I absolutely love Andrew and look forward to seeing another chapter in DGG. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
The crazy thing is that this truly wasnt supposed yo be any sort of single or "big song" but its almost universally accepted that this is definitely one of dgds top songs of any album. MS is also at the very least second place album of their discography!
This is one of those song that I wish it was a lyric video because the music video is very distracting. The video is very cool but I really love the lyrics, not just to this song but DGD has very good lyrics overall. Especially on the newest album, the lyrics are fantastic.
If you like the change-up in this song, you'll probably like One Man's Cringe off of their newest album, probably my favorite change-up in any DGD song.
Well there’s definitely a journey to be had if you go through their stuff it’s all great though but three different singers and lots of different opinions in the fanbase
Yall should pull up lyrics to their songs so you can see what exactly they are saying. It really helps with the imagery especially on the newer stuff with Johns lyrics.
The song is a critic to cults (not sure if religion as a whole) since Tillian's father (the clean singer) was a Scientologist, therefore the "Im in a midnight mass" and that kinda stuff. If you listen to the song from this perspective it makes way more sense. Hope it helped.
This was the song that got me into this band. I had never heard of them before and kept getting recommendations for this music video every time I opened youtube for like a week straight right after this video came out before I finally relented. Thank you pre-Tate youtube recommendation algorithm.
Could u guys maybe react on Jake Hill? That would be awesome. I would recommend Satin Black, Run Up, By the Sword, We die too, Black Out, Trick R Treat, and the new one Slide again
With you i'm finding a new awesome music, thx for that ❤ Also can you react to Jann - Gladiator? I'm curious if you'd like his so unique voice :) Also he have a live version when his voice is even better exposed :D
"Inspire the Liars is basically a song that bashes the cult like mentality behind some religions and churches. How they easily manipulate people into doing and believing certain things."
I recommend going back to their prior singers so you can hear the evolution of the band. Give Tree Village a listen off of Happiness. Kurt Travis was the clean vocalist at the time and Jon Mess stepped away from the band and Will Swan (the lead guitarist) takes over on harsh vocals.
Day two of asking yall to react to Here Comes the Winner Pleeeease!!!!!! Also just listen to the whole album track for track! Do it live! Dream come true lol
You guys are class! So good to hear you talk so highly of DGD they're sooooo good, the energy and performance live is truly out of this world! Can't wait to see you guys continue down this rabbit hole! 🍊🎰🍓
Will Swan guitars literally created a genre/style of guitar in this genre of music. Architects and DGD Guitar riffs: name another more ripped off and copied style in Post-hardcore/metalcore.
I'll be honest Eric, I think your need to understand lyrics on a first listen is holding you back from truly enjoying some songs. Just let the music flow dude... Then look up the lyrics afterwards. Hell, just have the lyrics up beforehand for Eric. I think that's why Kyle isn't bothered by it cuz he's a metalhead and metal lyrics are almost always incoherent if you're not used to it. But I completely understand. It's a personal preference. Just fyi, as others may have said: 99% of Jon Mess' lyrics are gibberish. He writes lyrics that audibly "sound" good to him, and rarely relate to anything at all. He's essentially your worst nightmare if you're a "I want to make sense of the lyrics" guy.
It's a curse for me I think 😆. Rap, you have to be a good lyricist to keep my attention ( usually) and clear if you're a faster rapper. So my brain is geared that way, I think for everything. Kyle and I have said before that my music and his have almost a "different language" and it takes time to let your ears adjust to this style. I'll make it one day lol
@@Rykerroad Nah, not a curse. It's just what you grew up with and there's no shame in that. You've already made more progress then most. You're open minded to new genres which cannot be said for most people. Which is why you guys are the best. Keep it going. DGD became my favorite band a couple years back. I will admit it took a few listens to get into but once I understood what they were and what they were going for, I was hooked. A lot of great songs in their catalog.
Tilian getting higher and higher with "start a new religion" gives me goosebumps every time and I've heard this song 400x.
Literally. Every. Single. Time.
same! cannot wait to see DGD in september!!!
AGREED
it's the "I need my ego to explode" too omggg
Bruh…632 times and counting
Tilian truly has a gorgeous falsetto - and if I recall correctly, this song in particular is about Tilian's experience with his dad being a Scientologist. Glad y'all enjoyed the song!
You guys have to do this whole album! It’s so good!
Finally, a fucking good reaction channel, good knowledge, good balance of listening and input
The art is done by swedish artist Mattias Adolfsson. There is a whole series of videos in that artstyle that should be watched in this order: Young Robot, Son of Robot, Death of a Robot and then Stroke God, Millionaire.

Dance Gavin Dance is one of my all time favs! Love every time you react to them! I'm excited for you to get to the rest of this album!
Hey. They have their own animation universe. This video contained moments from past videos. Therefore, if you want to get acquainted with their animated history, then watch the clips for the following songs:
Stroke God, Millionaire - 2015
Young Robot - 2016
Inspire The Liars - 2016 - you are here :)
Son of Robot - 2018 (but in this song there will be references to other clips outside the animation universe, but these are kind of spin-offs, not necessary to watch, haha)
List of these spin-offs:
* Midnight Crusade - 2018
* Betrayed By The Game - 2016
* Strawberry Swisher, Pt. 3 - 2013
And the last video on the list for the song -
Death Of The Robot With Human Hair - 2013
By the year I marked the release time of the album, which includes the track
as a new DGD fan, BLESS YOU FOR THIS (but also, B.L.E.S.S. T.H.I.S. M.E.S.S.)
The best thing about the vocals from Jon and whoever is cleans on whichever album is the delivery. The vocals are an instrument.
Love the name. That’s a classic.
As a person who loves both hip hop and metal, I love your guys reactions! You have also helped me find new artists so thank you so much !!

Nope, you're right on. 👍🏻
Up vote to bring it to the top.
Possibly my favorite song of all-time!
"John's voice [...] this is more of a vibe." TRUE. You tapped into it. Such a great original/personal point. I now trust wherever you go with this.
You guys have the best reactions. You make the DGD songs I've heard over 200 times so much better.
Happy to see more DGD on the channel my dudes!

Do the Robot With Human Hair anthology. There should be a playlist with all music videos in order

Yess!! Favorite reaction Chanel reacting to my favorite song. I have been waiting very very patiently for this video 💚
Need to start making your way through the Robot with Human Hair series of songs. You will not be disappointed!
So happy you reacted to this. I suggested it a couple weeks ago
This song is partly about Tilian going against his father's religion that I think he tried to push Tilian to do . I believe the "let's start a religion " part was related.
espere tanto por esta video-reaccion locoo, tilian es muy seco, ojala pudiera cantar como el.

We sadly can't. They bombed terribly. Our audience doesn't show up for them.

If you guys are interested check out some of their older stuff with Kurt Travis, “Carl Barker” off of their album “Happiness” is so good.
This whole album is so good. React to it all!!!
Kyle’s initial reaction is priceless.
Geeeze, this guy's upper register is amazing! 👍👏💜 Another great reaction! 🤗

Tillians father was a scientologist that tried to pass that mentality down to him to which he refuted
I've been waiting for this one since you reacted to "we own the night"
