Hi respectful Native PR, now I see the American politicians make 4% income tax laws try to lure businesses to PR, my Q is should businesses invest in PR or do u see any benefit or future doing business or living in PR even though they heavily make income tax so low (4%) try to attract businesses/investors help make PR great again - when White Americans nearly abandoned PR or take forever rebuild PR/neglected indigenous people with an intention or not; many Hawaiian, PR, Guam, etc native people called W. Americans to steal their island/land, genocide of indigenous Native Indians while at the same time bashing China does not have the human right/etc LOL. But focus back on my Q: should businesses invest/park/open business in PR even if native people leave or do not see any future there with more than $70B debt - fear unable to pay back so the whole PR island sinks w/ debt (enslave future generations/business) - when the island or titanic sinks, everyone onboard will also die (sink to the bottom) together?!. Just wonder if they use a 4% income tax to lure businessmen/investors in, does it worth it?! Only a native PR can give us some insights. Thanks in advance for your great honest insights! I'm tearful to see how they neglect native PR people, play too many games/wasteful spending/delay up to a point the indigenous people said enough US bs delay, u cannot count on White Americans-are-so-kind-bs-fake-media-image, they decide to risk their lives to help themselves, a layman go up the pole fix the high voltage transmission line IS FAR FASTER than wait for they play bs delay game wait forever gets no help! Stay strong PR! May God bless PR. We're all God's children so we should love & help each other! Now answer my above Q, thanks!

My family was there in June 2017, for a family reunion just before Maria hit. PR was thriving. There was abundance. Yes, many issues that we didn't see, but what happened after Maria in PR and how the Island people were treated as American citizens, is despicable. American businesses abandoned the island and left it in debt.

*The USA does not give anything for free to the island. In 2009, like in any other year, Puerto Rico paid $3.742 billion into the US Treasury.[10] The federal taxes paid by Puerto Rico residents include import/export taxes,[11] federal commodity taxes,[12] and others. Residents also pay federal payroll taxes, such as Social Security[13] and Medicare taxes. The island pays billions of dollars in Federal Taxes to the USA annually, so if they want the island to continue contributing to the USA it is their responsibility to help restore the island.

Social Security is what al lot of the freeloader aliens who come to this country apply for claiming that they can not work. They drain the resources of the USA government while they go back monthly to their country to have a good life at expenses of the tax payers including Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is the only one who gets nothing for free. The island pays billions on taxes. The Federal government refunds part of that money in services necessary for the functioning of the island and keeps a big chunk. Then it is their responsibility to try to restore the island if they want to keep squeezing it. Nobody in this world gives something for nothing. Only freeloader aliens get everything for free, that is why they keep coming to this country. They get the services that are denied to while, black etc citizens even in the mainland

I am Puerto Rican, I live in Puerto Rico. Puerto Ricans suffered many, many lost everything. And a lot died little by little for lack of basic service. We get up without federal and local government help. Some received help late and others are still waiting. The people are not to blame for the unresponsiveness of the federal and government. The government of Puerto Rico made a dirty move. They sold bonds fooling the pretty ones and spent large amounts of money and making millionaire loans. They abused the confidence of a people. that is why we demand an audit of the debt, to know and make the true responsible pay and have to answer for their actions. They still continue to steal with high salaries and contract millionaires continue to trangulate the country. The federals do nothing. It seems that the intention they have is that Puerto Rico disappears. But with the help of God and bless us, we will continue fighting for Puerto Rico to continue to shine better than before. I ask God to imprison anyone who politician did evil on my island. Pay him in jail and do not come back to my beautiful island.

And nothing happened. We fired the governor but Wanda Vazquez took power and then Pierluisi won. Later Ricky Rosselló even won another political job 😆 The taxes and cost of living is rising every day. LUMA is literally abusing their power position. The conditions in the island are the same if not worse. The Verano 2019 was the most useless protest in the history of Puerto Rico, possibly the whole World. Congratulations on the cool Instagram and Twitter posts.

How many people are there in puerto rico? Give them each a shipping container which holds- 1kw solar panel kit, water pump, solar stills to make fresh water, water reservoir tank to collect rain water, plans and instructions for a earthship, all of which made in america. They can live in shipping containers to provide shelter, have solar power for fridge, phone, laptop, work etc and also create aquaponic greenhouses to grow food. The island could then become self sustaining as it recovers. Heck the military could helo the shipping containers in to rural areas to help provide relief instead of all this trucking nonsense. They could also pack a shipping container with generators, solar power and medical supplies for smaller communities to ensure medical care. It is really easy if fema wanted to help the people.

The definition of being rich means having more stuff than other people. In order to have more stuff, you need to protect that stuff with surveillance systems, guards, police, court systems and so forth. All of those sombre-looking men in robes who call themselves judges are just sentinels whose job it is to convince you that this very silly system in which we give Paris Hilton as much as she wants while others go hungry is good and natural and right.
The state can legitimately use force to impose its will and, increasingly, so can the rich. Take away that facility and societies will begin to equalize.

They were saying on the news that it might be safer to go to a cement home bc the house might not be able to stay up bc of the strong winds that was going to blow. I didnt listen. I blessed my whole house with Holy Oil, even my dogs. It was scary but Nothing happened to my home. The news said to save at least 2 weeks worth of food, boy were they wrong! It wasn't too great drinking warm water. And difficult to find ice or buy anything cold. I begged God for ice and cold things to eat and drink. Then, the neighbours got their huge generator and shared with us! It wasn't easy living in the aftermath of Maria but i can't complain bc there were many in way worse conditions than us.

@@alexl932 I will try to answer to the best of my knowledge and abilities since I'm no expert in taxes and such.
The way that I see it, yes businesses opening up in PR using the low tax should, in theory, help us. Back in the 80s and 90s it really helped the island a lot by offering jobs which in turn raised the living standard of the people.
Now, a couple of things in my opinion affect this. China as a new hub for manufacturing really hurt our economy indirectly. But two other points hurt the economy here more. First is our, sadly, corrupt government that give away benefits to the first of the people high up in the political sphere and leave little to nothing for the rest of us and they also turn everything into a bureaucracy nightmare for anything to get done. The second is that we are an island that is in the middle of the trajectory of hurricanes almost every year. Companies would not like to work in a place where the infrastructure is so damaged that a small hurricane can cause them to lose millions, and the reason our infrastructure is so helpless goes back to my first point, incompetence and corruption from the government.
Thankfully it seems that this new generation of voters, young adults, thank to the power of the internet and access to higher education we seem to be moving in the right direction for calling out our politician and keeping them accountable when shit, for lack of a better word, happens. In 2019 we came together and ousted our governor for his incompetence and his disregard for us.
I truly belief that in the next 5-10 years things will turn for a the better in the island. When the current old generation that keeps voting based on political party, with no regards of how corrupt some candidate are, dies of and the new generation starts to become the majority.
Hopefully i managed to answer your question!
