You did a fantastic job on your CYC build. I am impressed with your choice of components. Great work and I like your honesty about the other electric bikes featured at the beginning of your video.
The hill climb test was great. Thank you for taking the time to make quality content on the cyc products... looking forward to more videos on the photon. 👍
That was a really good modification to that bike and it really looks nice. It’s a well to put together quality you can tell.
I'm rocking the gen 4 and will give cyc my money till the day they stop making product!
Cyc hands down! 💯%. This company is the best option for a pro or first diy ebike builders. Also customer service is probably one of the best of ever at the deal with.
Ordered one! Gonna install it on my Giant Trance full suspension bike. I'm stoked. Hope they can ship it out soon.
use the code to get 5% off.
Im glad you used the green bike in the references. I have a Montague Paratrooper, same setup. Makes it easier to decide if this motor is good for me
The lighter the better, and your build is a more appropriate wheel thickness for 99% of the time in the city. It allows the bike to be more maneuverable with having either equal the power, or better in most cases while also being full suspension where the Biktrix is not. And somehow the Biktrix manages to be 25lbs heavier.
Your bike build is outstanding bike and the motor well done my friend 👏
I like this kit a lot. There is so much potential here.
Great video keep up the good work, just have a question, which one you recommend more photon or X1 pro gen3, noise wise, range test, and ghosts pedaling on small chain range. Thanks again
That's really impressive. I have a Lectric XP, it's one of the cheaper ebikes out there with a 500W hub motor, but it's able to get to 29-30mph on max power with pedal assist. Since it seems like you are doing 40mph with only 750W, that's awesome. I wonder how fast you can go when it's fully unlocked and using all 3000W of power. Do you have to upgrade the crank/sprockets to even go faster? I don't have a mid-drive so I don't know much about it but it seems like you need to be able to provide the pedaling in order to get it to go any faster than 40mph right? Unless you mean the throttle alone will be able to fully utilize the 3000W.
I have around 6000 miles on my cyc x1 pro Gen 2 and i had no problems at all. Even in hot conditions it never overheat but the app on Gen 2 ist a desaster.
They just sent me an updated app version. It's impressive how much this small kit can do.
Bigger crank will also help dissipate ghost peddling.
I want to try and electrify my mountain bike. I have a Foes FXR. There is not much room for the battery like your bike. I have been looking at the CYC Photon mid drive conversion kit. Did you manage to get a battery that would fit inside the frame ? My dream bike would be a Oreba Rise H15
How is your rear hub, wheel spokes and nipples holding up? That's a ton of power.
I see the ex472, I'm going with the HX531 with DT Swiss 350 hybrid hub and alpine 3 spokes. I hope it holds up to the stealth.
Hi I just bought the X1 Stealth Gen 3 what are your settings in app for pebble assist please not sure if mine are right. Thanks
Nice...
What are you using for brakes, is your bike steel frame
What GPS app are you using on your phone? I like the big numbers.
Everyone else I see doing hill climbing test does it with throttle only not pedal-assist torque-sensing or otherwise
Do u think on this frame if the rear shock wan not there u could move the motor inside the frame,I have a polygon t7 with a longer BB also ,Im hoping that I can do that instead of below which will drop the motor too low??
This is tricky. I suggest email CYC and ask them about this video and see if they would recommend installing this kit on your frame and go from there. Also if you have green light use my code to get better prices.
Gonna see if I can put this on my ripracer and have it work while keeping the rear hub gonna be dual battery too if this works
You don't need the hub if you get this kit.
CYC stealth full suspension for me just want to find the right frame so it all looks slick
There are so many options today depends how much you want to spend.
i have a Bafang BBS2 750 watt kit which is great, but heavy. I notice after viewing the kit you have, the connection to the battery is rectangular shaped. My Panasonic battery is a round, cylindrical shaped connection. I'd like to possibly upgrade, so may research to see if there is an adaptor plug of some type so I can use my existing battery. Cheers man!
You just swap the connectors. It's so easy to do
@@ElectricVehicleSpace Thanks mate!
Man I really cannot decide between the photon, x1 stealth and x1 pro.
The photon is the more discreet and presumably power efficient option with better ease of installation. But what really detracts me from it is the lack of user serviceability, replacement psrts such as chainrings costing a fortune, and I've heard about many issues with it such as chainrings getting stuck/seized onto the unit, crunching noises from the bearings, bearings being full on stuck etc etc, and the price between the x1 stealth gen 3 and photon is literally 70 dollars as i have to get the expensive 34t chainring for my frame.
The x1 stealth/pro is difficult to decide between, ive heard about problems with the pro magnets falling off inside the motor housing and causing failure etc, so reliability issues similar to the photon and i dont know if I'll ever need the 3500W+ from the pro where the stealth can peak at 3kw if i ever need it, although I'd only be paying 150 usd more for the pro and get more than twice the marketed power rating.
Atm I'm on the verge between the x1 stealth and photon, the photon seems easier to get away with (legality wise), its presumably more power efficient and its quieter, but i feel like ill regret not getting the more powerful stealth even if the photon can peak at 2000w in unrestricted mode.
I would recommend getting the X1 stealth. This is the best performance range for e-mtb trails, downhill and city riding. If you want crazy power and upgrades later on than get the X1 PRO. The is one issue with the PRO.
You will need stronger cassette and chain. I have 300 km and I bent my entire drive train. Too much power. Everything needs to be reinforced including frame if you will be using it at max power on 72V.
Either way use the link and discount code to get 5% discount of the final price. I hope this helps.
I think most of us are not able to get on the trails as much as we plan and wind up spending most of our time on roads like your video shows. I am looking to build the "best" road-commuter ebike with thisCYC Gen 3 motor. Wondering if I should start with a fat bike frame, fixed tail MTB frame. I don't think a road bike or commuter bike frame would work because the skinny tires would make the ride too scary at higher speeds. Do you know of any good source for ebike build frames?
Ebay
My electric 750w mid-drive mountain bike with a new motor only cost me $840 to make and I sometimes use it for Commuting but I mostly use my Zooz or the fat tire 1000w mid-drive Mario ebike I can see you bought the eggridder display I'm so happy I added it to my bikes.
What mid drive are you using and how is the performance to X1 kit? $980 versus $840 is not bad if performance is close or better.
@@ElectricVehicleSpace BBSO2B MID-DRIVE 750W ON THE MOUNTAIN BIKE AND 1000W MID-DRIVE ON THE FAT TIRE MID-DRIVE BIKE AND THEY ARE BOTH PERFORMING WELL IVE HAD NO PROBLEMS
@@ashpunting They don't have torque sensors and the pedaling movement is not natural and it is not smooth, a lot of disconnect in power when you start pedaling or going uphill. Also big, heavy and the design is not the most attractive. Bafang 16 pounds and CYC 8 pounds.
@Electric Vehicles Space the bafang mid-drive have built in torque sensors and 160 Nm of torque and the 750w mid-drive has 1200 Nm of torque power I'm not sure how heavy they are I should look it up but I've never had any problems getting up hills unlike the hub motors but I must say my Zooz 750w peaks at 1200w and has amazing torque I was very surprised it must be wound specifically for the zooz experience
@Electric Vehicles Space the BBSHD 12.3 LBs and the BBSO2 8.1 LBs I have 36T chainring in full power it's very hard to keep the front wheel down going up steep hills
What helmet is that?
This is a great bike for the price, especially when the LMX 64 and the Biktrix Juggernaut are close to $10,000, that's just stupid..... I can buy a car AND build an awesome ebike like this for $10k. 😁
yes you are right. I would not ride a car under 8K just for safety reason but yeah you can use the extra cash for other needs.
Thanks for the review. Just one question. Well there be any problems with water ingress? I sometimes ride in wet and muddy conditions. Thank you.
I haven't tested in water, and I don't ride in the rain but if you look at the previous video of unboxing this kit I tool it apart and it is pretty well sealed and on the website cyc says water resistance is improved.
I have CYC X1 StEALTH gen.1 and I use it for commuting. Even after 2000 km I have zero issues with water. When I'm at work I leave my bike outside. Temp -10C? No problem! Heavy rain? No problem!
8:00 a Full Face....yep that needed on a small grass hill....
I didn't know you changed your helmet every 5min. You can't probably walk that incline on your bare feet.
how does it feel to brake going at those high speeds on the cyc ? Also, what is the range you get with that battery?
all info in the video. Watch it all 🤟🏿🔥💯
Is a circuit breaker needed or the one in the controller is enough ?
The way it comes its perfect! Has all you need and performs as it should.
do you suggest a 72 volt high power battery that’s not going to shoot up in flames😂
What make bike is that , great video
Not sure what you mean
Do you think that the drivetrain can last at short periods of 5000w full blast without major consequences and hurting the drivetrain's lifespan?
Max 3kw and it can
Very nice kit but it's too bad it's pretty noisy compared to a BBSHD which is damn near silent. The CYC sounds like a bunch of angry bees buzzing. Was hoping it would be much quieter than the previous version but the sound is pretty noticeable in the video.
The gopro 10 mic is just not doing a good job. It is increasing the noise. It is not that loud and I like how it sounds. The motor is so small and the level of noise is minimal.
What about the CYC Super 73RX l thought you was going to do another review?
I need to find time to finish the battery plates.
@@ElectricVehicleSpace can't wait to see it,l got a cyc still in the box for my RX and there's almost no videos for that motor on a Super 73
I wonder if they're making a specific bike for this motor.
They better do! 😤
Waiting for long term review for your setup.
That will take time
You say in the video it is only suitable for aluminum bike. Is it not suitable for a full carbon mtb like specialized Enduro fir example ?
i never said that. I am using on a carbon fiber frame.
@@ElectricVehicleSpace sorry my mistake, oh that's good , thanks for the video and reply bro. 👍.
Hello dear friend but you go up the hills ok good 😅😊
yes
How fast just on power only - no pedaling ?
All info in the video
@@ElectricVehicleSpace No it isn’t - which is why I’m asking.
Great video!
I want to get the cyc x1 gene send contact please. I have a couple of questions. Thank you well appreciated.

I am glad you liked it.
How is your cyc gen 3 holding up?
Very good. How is yours?
@@ElectricVehicleSpace 800 miles on my odo but am only pushing 1900W max and keeping it under 117 degree farenheit. Would like to push it at 1900W continuous for longer durations but am scared of it breaking down due to heat. No issues with it yet.

Better do a Cable sleeve around the Cable, before you "Pedal" a Cable.
Yes, that will be done.
Why a mountain bike and not a hybrid rigid bike for a commuting build?
I was thinking of that but I don't have a frame like that. If someone can ship me one I will definitely review it.
This bike is so light that you a 215 lb rider got it to 39mph. Heavy bikes 70-85 lbs that are also 52 volt wouldn’t be able to do this because of the weight. Definitely a great bike for anyone who lives upstairs in an elevator-less building in NYC.
Are you sure it wasn't 39 km/h ?
Is that a cyc battery
Yes

Man I’m enjoying your videos but you’re way off on your numbers here. You have an x1 stealth motor which is 1500 watts ish peak power not the x1 pro that is 3000/5000 watts depending on the controller. The stealth is going to pull about 30 amps at 56v where the x1 pro will pull 60. I know as I ride one every day on a niner rip 9 aluminum frame bike
Not sure why you think I am wrong? I tested this kit and it is stock controller and 750W was displayed while I was riding at max 39mph. Off road I will not go that fast but once I am able to unlock it and take it on trails I will record the max power on the screen. I also spoke with the owner of CYC Motors and John told me once you unlock you will pull 3000W max and it will punch hard and be very powerful. I don't have the tools to prove the 3000W output but why would the CYC owner lie?
@@ElectricVehicleSpace you can get 3000 watt on the x1 stealth but you will overheat the Motor very quik. The X1 pro is the right choice for 3000 watt. With the Stock controller and 52V you get around 1400watt on the stealth and a peak of 1800
@@fynnchiboy1060 have you tested? even at 1400Whatts I think the power and top speed it is more than enough and you will never use it off road. I like that this is the most compact motor in the world right now and the power delivery is more than enough. I have the x1 pro but we are talking here about the x1 stealth.
?
Enjoy it while you can because the way people ride those things in public places around children and old people is very responsible so will be illegal soon enough once enough people get injured or hobbled to the point of Ridiculousness. 9:29 right here at nine minutes and 26 seconds you'll notice you yourself come a little too close to a somewhat worried looking girl standing by bench who is it was an old person or small child might have freaked out and possibly darted out in front of you like a cat on the side of the road when you drive by because after all the initial tendency for most animals when feeling threatened is to run and most bikers aren't prepared for that they expect you to be just standing still and waiting for them to go around and that hardly ever works out that way with the most vulnerable and fearful (because they know they're vulnerable). Just something to think about we should all ride different on the public roadway and sidewalks then we do on the trails but we seldom give it much thought until they're threatening to take them away.
Making up scenarios just to whinge about….what a loser.
Any baseball movie that has the Angels winning should be counted as sci-fi or fantasy just add a elf.
