41:40 Had the very same feeling with the MK7 Golf of my in-laws (also 1 litre, 3 cylinders). It is so well rounded. Very satisfying to drive, especially impressive is the ride comfort on the Autobahn.
Although May and Hammond seem to still be somewhat grounded. To be fair, JC has to put up with all the media attention picking at all his words. Just far easier to say ‘no’ to all than risk more shit
Excellent episode !!!!! I could have listen to this for 3 or 4 hours. I'd like to be able to have dinner with James, because, even though Richard is closer to me in age, I feel like I'd have more in common with James. My 5 person plus me dream dinner would be Tim "Tiff" Needel, James May, Hurley Haywood , Derek Bell & Bill Warner. 🙂
26:30. I can totally relate to this. At a certain age, you can't help stuff around with the slightest blemish on any surface within reach, which was almost always in the family car. I'm pretty sure I dug a 1" hole in the arm rest in the back of my father's Ford Futura between the ages of 8 and 10.
Lorries are only allowed to drive for 4.5 hours in the EU before the driver needs a 45 minute break. 4.5*80km/h is 360km, which is easily attainable with a 500-600 km WTLP battery, which are commonplace. The same rules apply to bus drivers. They will both reap huge benefits from lower running costs on batteries versus hydrogen or petroleum.
Ive written it before... and I must write it again. I love James May. I want to listen to everything he has to say. I find myself thoroughly involved - yeah, threading a washer through the conker is totally not in the spirit of the game... It IS cheating. By the way, what is conkers?
That was fun. There are already experimental sails fitted to cargo vessels but that might be tge point. It will not be sail only, we may need to keep burning some fossil fuels. It's like synthetic fuel. Sutely the most cost effective thing is to cut it with fossil fuels like we already do with diesel.

The inimitable James May, on form as ever. BTW wasn't C4's 'Driven' the first (only?) appearance on public telly of sniff_petrol aka Richard Porter?
If you're referring to the Subaru Legacy review he did i believe that was just old top gear with Tiff, Quentin Wilson etc
44:00 Aygo / C1 / 108, perfect for this, I've got two of them, best cars I've owned.
Woah, GeoffBuysCars needs to hear this, talking about the electric cars, spot on
I remember the registrations of my cars, my mum and dad's cars .😂😂
I’ve just bought a 1.2 litre panda for £800 and it’s my favourite car to drive at the moment….
Why wasn't this 3h long???
