Her relationship with Seb was so special!
So efficiency power comfort irrelevant. Let's look at the front for looks and base out decision on that. Get a Volvo ex30 (0-100 in 3.8 secs ) and find me a better looking car.
2 top top car men chewing the fat . If you haven't already , watch or subscribe to both their channel's Harry's Garage and Fuelling Around , both bloody brilliant . Cheers .
Great interview. Russell has got so much energy, it’s great to see.
He was such a great guest! Thank you for watching.
8:36 Blue Stratos came out in 1974.
Great to hear about Jason and Richard’s friendship
Thanks for watching!
Richard Porter has some of the most interesting behind the scenes stories
❤❤❤❤
The petrol light game so much fun.. Heathrow and back 440miles and as you leave 318miles range. Make it happen 😮. Job done.. Another epic season may I say maybe the best yet. Bring on season X . Thanks for being in my ear and making me laugh . 🎉
Thanks so much for watching and commenting Luke! See you next season.
Whilst you can't buy them new anymore, they did make the UP! GTi for nearly four years from 2018.
Good for you man. And you took advantage of it man. That is so cool.
Thats not actually true. On a green energy grid a electric car offsets its own carbon emissions in one and a half years. After that its offstetting MULTIPLE gas cars emissions per year. ESPECIALLY old cars which dont have proper emmisions filters.
@@jujub5557 Sorry, but you are claiming a statistic that is not relevant here. The 1.5 year offset you refer to is based on studies that compare a new EV against a new conventional IC engine car run over an equivalent average mileage. This is not the case when you compare a new EV against continuing to use an existing vehicle. I carried out this study for my 16 year old diesel car. I could drive it for another 5.25 years to equal the emissions created in the production of a typical new EV. If that EV used anything other than 100% zero carbon electicity that would be longer than 5.25 years to reach parity. How many people buy a new EV and don't change it for 6 years? If I bought an EV and ran it instead of my old car, but changed it after 3 or 4 years I would reset the cycle and make no gains but actually created more CO2 equivalent emissions than driving the old car for the same duration and mileage. This uncomfortable truth is rarely discussed because the industry and common assumption is that everyone will buy a new car. If you HAVE to buy a new car, and live somewhere that doesn't rely on coal for electricity production, and drive a typical average mileage, and don't change that car for 3 years, an EV is going to save CO2 equivalent emissions over any conventional IC engine car. If not all those conditions are met or you buy a large EV with a large Asian made battery the benefits can become slim to none.
@jncg2311 it is still relevant because gas cars continue to burn gas. What your not understanding because you choose to find problems is that 1.5 years for production is EXTREMELY FAST. everything after is a positive effect. And this factors in to the continued burning of gas in already existing vehicles. I'm not saying everyone should be switching but what's your goal in arguing statistics 😂
I have tried to explain to friends that driving as classic a few thousand miles every year has a positively miniscule environmental impact compared with the toxic cycle of a new one on lease every 3 years. All the efficiency and now EV zero tailpipe emissions talk doesn't get away from the embodied energy/ carbon and rare minerals required to make each new car. When the cost differential gets more bearable I'll drive my classic Alfa and VW on synthetic fuel and further close the gap on making my almost 50 year old car even more environmentally friendly than a modern plastic thing.
Wrong false information
@jujub5557 Care to share your calculations on that? You claim I provide false information but you have none for my situation and provide none yourself. How many miles are you assuming I drive? How much fuel do you assume my car uses per mile? What CO2 equivalent are you placing on the grid electricity where I live? How efficient is the electric car I am not driving? What's the embodied CO2 equivalent of the manufacture and delivery of the electric car I haven't bought? I have nothing against EVs really but they are not the only way. I happed to have a skill set and situation that makes using an old car feasible and it is a very favourable alternative to buying a new car, EV or otherwise. The fact is I do this type of work for living, I work in the renewable energy industry so I can't make false claims and know how to do these calculations.
Very true! Thanks for watching.
Had zero idea comedy Dave was into cars or from the Wirral, I live in Heswall He needs to get that 💩 framed top in his wheelie bin tho
Vitty with the Everton pillow!
I’m pretty sure I met Ben at a Brands Hatch corporate day run by Atlantic Computers and he was showing us how to drive on the circuit - back in the 1980s! Brian Jones hosted the day and Tony Trimmer took us out in a replica D-Type. Memorable!
That's amazing! What a day.
@ I met Brian a number of times. As well as at race meetings, where he commentated on my first ever race, we met at Silverstone once where he was chatting to various drivers in the paddock. I had just started talking to Andy Rouse and Brian came along to talk to him. We also went to the same school in Gloucester and met up at reunion dinners.
Great episode! Interesting to hear about the heart rate stuff, as I've just been diagnosed with a heart rate condition called PoTS, so interesting to hear about that.
Thanks for watching!
Get your facts right idiots who’s the license fee sponger?
2010 ROC Party is legendary...HA ha!!
What a inspiration Jennie Gow is coming from someone who has had 2 stroke’s before the age of 40 and has heart failure I can honestly say I loved listening to the interview. It was nice to hear someone else talk about the difficulties dealing with the strokes and how much it affects them but just get on with everyday life the best they can without fuss. Like the fact that she can make light of the situation I think you need to do this to get through it or it will drive you crazy. All the best with the recovery o and by the way I also dust and I am male 😂😂
Thank you for watching! She is definitely inspirational.
Sadly wealthy tax avoiders like Harry, Clarkson and Dyson are forcing poorer farmers out of business by using farms as tax avoidance vehicles. His enthusiasm for cars is so diminished now.
This podcast has changed my mind on Ben again. I grew up listening to him doing Jasons great years in touring cars before he left for BBC F1 and i never thought his voice fitted the coverage. Laterly his goodwood commentry now makes sense. Never knew he was such a massive petrol head. Thanks for a great podcast and an insight into someone who you very rerely here there story 👍
Thanks for watching Dan! Glad to hear you enjoyed.
20:33 what film is Ben talking about?
I found it but I don't know if it's from top gear or the grand tour
True gentleman of telly-automotive world 🫡
I'm a man and I dusk, LOL. Great ep :)
Just had the water pump & ancillary belts done today on my BMW PSA Turbo engine in my R56 Cooper S, certainly wasn't anything like a grand. Ben was brilliant with his F1 commentary for many years.
It’s the ability to be fully present in that moment
I grew up listening to Ben for many years and he was one of the reasons for wanting a career as a commentator.
That's amazing ben! Thanks for listening.
I miss penny on television 👍🙏🇬🇧
Always used to het the best interviews from drivers seb had as soft spot for her great presenter/ journalist credit to motorsport 👍👍🙏
Great podcast. I'm a big fan of Ben's. Him and John Watson (Get Wattie on the podcast) are one of my favourite commentary duos on F1 on Eurosport in the 90s. He is still the voice of BTCC for me. Also some of his best calls came on the Indy CART championship. I'm glad he still keeps popping up here and there. Thanks for podcast.
We agree! Thanks for listening.
Elite sportsmen often call what you called 'the purple patch' as 'the zone', as in being in the zone. Tennis players and cricket batsmen describe the ball as being bigger and moving slower when they're in the zone.
That's so interesting! Thanks for listening.
I live in Monterey CA. I don't have a Stag, but you can drive my TR4 down through Big Sur.
Sounds amazing!
Don't understand how this podcast doesn't have thousands watching ?.. how is there only 12 people ?
Thank you Jack - share with your friends!!
@40.25 .... So it was Your fault! I was married to an American lady sheriff from Jackson County at the time and we watched that Alabama episode together in the UK. As you pulled into that garage we were both screaming NNNOOO !!!! at theTV... You got lucky and you found that out when the cop arrived... but it was honestly the best dodgy situation TV I've ever seen... Thank You!
All the establishment u tubers were invited to the recent Jaguar launch. They all had praise for Jaguar. Harry has a great channel in the main.
Great podcast guys. Been listening since day 1. Great range of guests from all backgrounds. However if you have to make references to James Bond films I think you may need to brush up a bit on your knowledge. The barrel roll in The Man With the Golden Gun was performed by an AMC Hornet , not the Toyota S2000, which was in the Connery movie You Only Live Twice. The flying car in ‘Golden Gun’ was an adapted AMC Matador coupe.
Thanks for letting us know!
this channel has a criminally low amount of subscribers!
Great podcast Lewis was robbed by the fia in 21..👍👍🙏
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
To be “robbed” of something it has to be yours/you own it and Hamilton never did
@@ThevintageSByou are speaking of physical possessions. The F1 title is not a tangible object, he was indeed robbed.
@ haha nice try buddy but it’s exactly the same thing - a title has to be yours (you cross the finish line first and win declared the winner officially) before it can be “robbed”
@ haha no mate, that’s so weak. The backlash that followed and subsequent sacking of Michael tells you all you need to know. Accept and move.
Jennie is an absolute legend. Thank you.
She really is! Glad you enjoyed the episode.
Now this lady is made of stone. An amazing individual who nor only over comes massive life changing events, but is inspiring to us all. I have not been able to thank her personally for her inspiration but its nice to see her smiling again.. Guys you have outdone yourselves this time..
Thank you for watching! She really is incredible.
Dare I say/admit that, as a confirmed petrolhead, I am also a relatively regular duster - I blame my OCD, (which is the same motivation for 'needing' our cars' interiors to always be spick and span). Sorry, not sorry.
I dust my car, around gear lever, instruments, switches and buttons, not the house though!
Dave, did you get an e-up?
Great Interview boys, and how lovely to see Jennie back!
Thank you! It's great to have her back.
Great episode and the correct ending.
Thank you Kevin!
I hope she gets the gig again at the TT. She was very good in 2022.
We agree! She was great. Thanks for watching!
Top 🍌👍👍🙏
it was nice to hear when Jennie was back broadcasting for f1. As for replacement car that's not horrendously priced - Cupra formentor? VZ5 you get half an R8. A bit of space and a bit of go?
My dad was like Harry - he wasn't a car collector, he was just useless at selling cars.
