"It gives me great pleasure to present the first single Le Piano from my upcoming EP also titled Le Piano, coming out April 1 on Dot Dash records
After a crazy period of touring, being stuck at home for the past 2 years allowed life to slow down and gift me an extended period in my home studio.
After writing and releasing Mr Experience at the beginning of the coronavirus, I’d turned back to listening to a lot of instrumental music - Sakamoto, Hiroshi Yoshimura, Goblin, Kraftwerk, Vangelis, Yanni…to name a few.
I indulged myself and bought a vintage Yamaha CP70 electric grand piano, as well as finally setting up my studio to record live drums - something that’s been on my mind for quite some time. It seemed too soon to be writing a new album straight after Mr Experience (an album which I can’t wait to perform for you in 2022) so I spent most of the time in my little room experimenting, skilling up, and enjoying the musical process once again without the pressures of deadlines and touring.
This EP is a small taste of my world from this crazy moment in time - I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

@@Nixo66 All these bands from Australia that have tht synth funk sound were inspired by Miami vice 80s Sound the whole country of the United States was inspiredred by Miami at that time with sound and style hence the Miami vice show, Australia was never known for that sound, you guys literally have a band called Miami horror that does the same Miami vice get up tht Donnie does with the pink suits tht look like they're from the 80s, Australia didn't create this sound buddy, search psychic mirrors, this is a local Miami band lookover their sounds that's true Miami synth boogie electro funk, I like Donnie for representing that Miami soind
@@stevenarsenal1 you're right and ian's an idiot. i'm sure Donny would agree Miami and its disco/funk/electro scene had a big influence on his music and aesthetic. nothing about this sound is "Australian" in any meaningful way; Donny makes very international music and just happens to be Australian.

This is the exact kind of music/sound our TV stations in the '80s would use for little breaks between shows. Back than i was a kid and i fondly remember songs like "Dolce Vita" from Ryan Paris, "Lilly was here" from Dave Stewart or "Don't cry (it's only the rhythm)" from Grace Jones. They are stuck in my head forever.

Donny is a friendly guy with copious amounts of individuality and authenticity - the antithesis of today's commercial music environment. To us, his listeners, his music is of exceptional quality throughout many layers, suave, self-aware, and sensual. To the commercial mainstream one-dimensional listener - they see some silly, edgy, balding man "trying" to hold on to his fading youth, oblivious to Donny's layers. Maybe with time he will penetrate deeper into the mainstream, but today's pop culture actively presses against rare authenticity such as Donny's.
