Okay, we've heard it all before... 'this' in a box, 'that' in a box... surely, it can't be that simple? Just buy this pedal and your existing setup will be transformed in to a fire-breathing behemoth? Well, perhaps! But not entirely...
The concept of 'Marshall in a Box' pedals is no longer that new. Many highly-regarded pedal designers have taken their stab at capturing the raw ferocity and excitement of a cranked Marshall amp stack, in a humble stompbox format, and usually they take focus on the higher gain, '80s tones, that feel like butter under the fingers to get utterly shred-tastic on!
However, some of the greatest guitar tones of all time have erupted from the most classic, vintage-style Marshall amps of the '60s and early '70s - where are all the pedals that capture THAT magic, you may ask? Well, look no further...
In today's video, Jack rounds up 6 of his favourite MIAB pedals that have their roots in the more old-school approach. Some wear their intentions and origins on their sleeves, others take a little bit of prying, but the results here are some of the very best, richest, most dynamic and timeless Marshall tones... in a much smaller box!
