      Got a suggestion. Now, after all those years,Charlie said that Mick and him were big fans of Studio 54, disco music ,and how it was fun to do disco, Miss You, that kind of things. Studio 54 people, like disco people were known for special outfits, so maybe he was the one to choose the clothes for that video.Charlie is a British Dandy, a real sharped dressed one. The one who doesn't like disco culture is Keith. So I wonder how he accepted to be with those clothes.

    • @DDEENY
      @DDEENY 6 років тому +2

      Actually, Ronnie had a cameo appearance on this album, IT'S ONLY ROCK 'N ROLL (12-string acoustic guitar and backing vocals on the title track). Re: "Ain't Too Proud To Beg", great cover versions are a Stones forte, but you could also see in this and other videos of the early '70's Stones period how Mick Taylor had pretty much become relegated to a mundane rhythm guitarist role too often, which is not was he was. Taylor was chiefly a virtuoso blues guitar soloist and that role was becoming more scarce for him and his sense of stifled creativity (and denial of due songwriting credit) led him to decide to leave the band. I believe that he was also put off by Keith's excessive and wreckless lifestyle which may have been considered too extreme for him.

      Little known fact: It wasn’t the drugs or the lack of songwriting credits that drove Taylor from The Stones. It was that, after waging a bitter and relentless 5-year great-hair war against Bill Wyman, he simply ran out of steam (not to mention conditioner) and had to walk away in defeat.

    The Stones were infamous for these 'promotional' videos of their 70's material starting with "Sticky Fingers." Typically, the mix of Mick's voice (as in this track) is muted, and he indeed sings "live". Other songs like "Start Me Up" failed terribly as Mick tried to lip-sync. This video is special, it was the ONLY time Mick Taylor was at the Mic on any video I have ever seen. Mick Taylor was sick of laying the best sounds the Stones ever made and getting no credit. After this- he left.

      I had the record and liked it. Nothing earth-shattering, but it was better than anything Jagger did alone. Leather Jacket was floating on Stones’ bootlegs before he recorded it on his debut solo LP. I guess he was trying to get the Stones to record it, but it was always rejected. There are some great moments like “Baby I Want You” and “Alabama,” but “Spanish / A Minor” is a highlight. I always wished Taylor had explored his jazzier-progressive leanings more in his solo career.
