Thanks guys. This is ZZ Top's signature song from their best selling album "Eliminator". It sold an estimated 50 million copies . The 32 Ford coupe is their trademark.
@@minigirl6379 ...and "Thug" and "Stages" and "I Need You Tonight" and "I Got the Six" and "2,000 Blues" and "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers" and so on and so on. You get my drift?😉
Good to see you back. You gotta react to Ghungroo, would love to see your reaction and see if you know the meaning of this song. The video has english subs. ❤
Some historical perspective. ZZ was one of those bands that was well established on the radio, but when MTV hit in 1981 - they jumped ON the music video scene and took effective advantage of it. Their look, their 1932 Ford in this video (known as the 'Eliminator', you'll see the car repeatedly in their other videos), all iconic and they dominated MTV for awhile. ZZ was one of the first to use music videos to add content to the songs. Check out their video for 'TV Dinners' the song is dated and the video is so 80s, but the video is creepy-funny. Some of their big popular videos from that era in time also include "Legs" and "Give Me All Your Lovin'".
The Hot Rod is a '33 Ford Coupe that Billy Gibbons (guitarist) found and had restored. It's showcased in a lot of their videos. I still have the Official ZZ Top key chain that was sold at their concerts. Gibbons used to open for and hang out with Hendrix back in the late 60's.
If you want to hear a great piece from their early days, check out Waiting For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago. It's different from their later stuff, straight blues.
So, the premise behind a lot of these type of ZZ Top videos features the guys from the band as ghosts who help out the underdog via that coupe, those girls and that magical set of ZZ Top keys. Once they enter that coupe their lives change, for the good. That said, you definitely have to listen to "My Head's in Mississippi".
lol when they cut the roof off the car and remove some of the metal that holds it up and then put the roof of the car back on, making the roof of the car lower than it was that is called a "chop" top.
_I would react to _*_Waitin for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago,_*_ Cheap Sunglasses, Tush, I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide, and I Thank You_ before you get into their 80's, MTV friendly Eliminator album videos
This car the eliminator shares the name of this album and is a staple in their videos . In this video the underdog gets a makeover and wins the girl . In another video it’s a female who gets the makeover and turns heads and gets revenge on those who treat her like shit. That song is “legs”
Great reaction bro! Thanks for all the time you invest man putting out these reactions at the rate you do! I can't imagine how much time you putting in, but letting you know it's appreciated! Always look forward to seeing what's next, and I think it's cool that you share this experience with your girl as well..alot of dudes lose time with their ladies, but you share it with yours and that's very Noble bro! hi from England the car was designed by the late Boyd Coddington who was famous for designing cars for famous Rock Stars the red car was a 1934 Ford Coupe and was called Eliminator went to see ZZ Top live awesome THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR CUBIC INCHES. V8 never die. They just go faster All the best Favourite band Pink Floyd
According to Wikipedia "In 1976, Gibbons met with Don Thelen of Buffalo Motor Cars in Paramount, California, and Ronnie Jones of Hand Crafted Metal with some help from Sid Blackard, to build the car. It was built with a Corvette-style engine. It was finished in 1983 and called the Eliminator after the album name." Maybe Boyd Coddington made some of Billy Gibbon's other hot rods?

@@steverobey711 Oh and 'Eliminator' is a 1933 Ford Coupe. I found this info online: "The build of Eliminator was originally inspired by the Pete and Jake’s coupe from the movie The California Kid and is a true steel 1933 Ford, not a fiberglass replica of the classic Ford model. Having been inspired by The California Kid car, Gibbons brought on Pete Chapouris (the Pete of Pete & Jake’s) to do some consulting on the car, which was ultimately built by Don Thelen of Paramount, California’s Buffalo Motor Cars with a Pete & Jake’s custom chassis, complete with a dropped tube axle, 4-bar front suspension and a Ford 9-inch rearend underneath it. Other defining features of the car include a 3-inch chop, custom 3-piece hood built by Steve Davis, ’34 Ford headlights, classic ’39 Ford teardrop taillights, and of course, the iconic red paint scheme with custom “ZZ” graphics, designed by Kenny Youngblood. Under the hood, you’ll find a So-Cal Speed Shop-built SBC 350ci V8 with a single four-barrel carburetor, tied to a Turbo 350 transmission for reliability sake".
They would tour with the ZZ Top Eliminator Ford , but the car was stolen 3 times and stripped. The owner who is Billy Gibbons the tall guy in the band rebuilt the car for the last time and locked it up in his garage with his collection of custom cars.
Billy is a huge car guy & has a killer collection. The one in the video is his 1933 Ford "Eliminator" Coupe which he had built with a Corvette engine & the recognizable bright red finish with ZZ Top graphics. "Eliminator-the term for any category of race cars competing against each other."
Shoot--I'm an ol skool playa..all I got to do is put on my "Pulp Fiction" suit and my black gangsta fedora, and the young babes still find me charming.
This song is ok, but a far cry from ZZ Top's best. Their earlier stuff is much more bluesy, funky and gritty. This was their MTV phase, where they made some serious bank but 2nd rate music. For something a lot more like old school ZZ, check out their "Gotsta Get Paid" a recent remake of "25 Lighters" by DJ DMD, a rap artist from their Texas hometown. I think you'll really enjoy it.
If ZZ Top were Metallica, this would be their black album. Very commercially successful and not a bad album at all, but their earlier stuff was their best.
A great deep cut from this album is “I need you tonight “.That’s one of the sexiest bad ass songs they have ever made,But nobody has ever reacted to it.You guys could be the first ever on UA-cam to ever react to that song.Anyway enjoyed it.😎

The show Workaholics called ZZ Top "the champagne of beer drinking music." Pretty spot-on.
