Nice to see your comments on how he blends in those two evocative classic 60s songs almost unnoticed in the intro. My comments in the Daily Doug reaction video to this stunning performance, echo yours totally..Nice one..
The whole performance but especially the outro is simply sensational. The song just takes you on a masterful musical journey, so many layers and so much synergy between wizard level performers. One of the all time greats.
This is my favorite song by Dire Straits, l have been listening to them since the early 80's. It was also my Mom's favorite, she used to go to the fairgrounds near Newcastle, that Mark Knopfler sings about in this song. It brings back great memories for me. Thank you for reacting to this, I love that you enjoyed it so much.
This Tunnel Of Love is the best song of DS.Best solo, tune and rhymes.Best soft voice and overall best group music combination.I always listen to it till now at 65 can't get bored or tired. Its always refreshing. Thanks to DS.God Bless Them.
This astonishing work of art is part opera, part symphony, all musical magic. This is one of what I consider to be the three greatest songs played live, with "Stairway To Heaven" and "Comfortably Numb".
@@234i9 Why is it not like an opera and why shouldn't it be? It has brilliant music and the lyrics tell a poignant story, just as the best operas do. So, evidence for my opinion. What have you got to support yours? One could say that the music of "Tunnel Of Love", particularly the piano sections (which is why, to match this and the fun fair setting,, the "Carousel Waltz" was played as part of the intro to the song in live performances) are too melodic to be classified as rock. PS You are missing quite a few things, including three apostrophes (you also have an unnecessary comma). Come on. Don't be like this man. It's not proper written communication and it should be.
_"Telegraph Road", "Sultans of Swing"_ and _"Tunnel of Love"_ : Put them in any order you want. They are probably the 3 best pieces of music ever created.
Hi Rebeka, good morning from Newcastle Upon Tyne North East England, yes, i am a born and bred Geordie, and a true fan of Mark even today......I'm only one! of the people who asked you to react to this song, indeed this particular live version.......Thank you so much, you made it extra special, and made my day..........I hope you are getting over your recent illness, take good care. 😍😘
Dear Rebeka, Love your reactions and music analysis......Here Mark gives an absolute master class in variated guitar playing...he is simply an open channel of creativity. It flows so smooth out of him. Feeling, dynamics, technic, speed, mixing rock, blues, country, jazz and fusion live at highest advanced, elite level..Simply World class and insane....Mark Knopfler is one of the best players who ever walked this planet!
Two things: Look at that Schecter Guitar that MK uses on this. Lovely tone. Then the fact that on the original studio version he didn't have Alan Clark yet and borrowed Roy Bittan who was Bruce Springsteen's piano man. Finally, the brilliant arrangement: Rodgers and Hammerstein opening of the Carousel Waltz.... the middle section .... and the unbelievable final solo by MK (which I think is out of this world). Mark dedicated this song to his late father Erwin Knopfler and stopped playing it live after Erwin's passing. The words of the song are etched in concrete sidewalk at the Spanish City near Newcastle and Whitley Bay.
I'm glad you reacted to this version of this song. This song is so underrated. IMO, it's one of the best and most beautiful outros to a song. Unfortunately, so many people don't even know about this song. They know mostly Money For Nothing and Walk Of Life and because of youtube, many know Sultans of Swing.
Agree so much with your comment. For me, Telegraph Road is still their number one song - a masterpiece from beginning to end. But the Wembley version of Tunnel of Love is right up there, and for me, it knocks Sultans out of second place - as difficult as that it to say. Brothers in Arms would come in at number 4.
@@MrDeepseadweller Yeah, for me "Telegraph Road" is also their absolute masterpiece, but maybe thats because i'm an old fan of Yes, Genesis and love all their looong pieces. Just like from Pik Floyd also "Dogs" is my favorite. Else from Dire Straits, "Tunnel of Love" was maybe my favorite before Telegraph Road was released. And "Money for nothing" is one of the worst of their songs for me. "Brothers in Arms" itself is however also really good.
Something tells me you never wanted this one to stop! I was rocking out along side you Rebekah. Thanks for this reaction. I've always loved the rolling piano at the end of this but Knopfler just can get a unique sound out of guitars he is incredible. Thanks again, this is an absolute pleasure of a UA-cam video!
R.I.P. to rhythm guitarist Jack Sonni. We know how happy he'd be seeing your joy. That genre you forgot may have been Waltz. That was the "Carousel Waltz" by Rogers and Hammerstein.
You really get it! It's a real pleasure to watch you listen and then describe your own reaction so well. You hear what's going on, see & feel how the band members play as if they're sharing one musical brain. How they blend the song together, how they use dynamics and tempo. How much they're enjoying playing, and how the audience feels that, and reflects it back - sort of a feedback loop. Not many people see and hear all of that, take it all in, and know why they're absolutely entranced. 16 minutes seems like no time at all - if anything we wish for just a bit more as they build toward the end. You pick up all of this, as everyone's playing combines to make magic. Thank you so very much.
One of my favourite Straits songs. Classic Knopfler in that it's a story, and calling from his own past with all the places he grew up around. Live, he drops in all sorts of hints of other songs, you might have picked up "Stop, in the name of love" in the intro. And love the line "I could have caught up with her easy enough, but something must've made me stay." One of the very very few DS songs not credited to Mark Knopfler alone because he borrows from Rogers and Hammerstein for the intro. I'll save my last word for the way the out solo just builds and builds. Magnificent.

That was like me when I first heard it on Alchemy back in the 80s. It quickly became one of my favorite songs. It's such a beautiful song. It's disheartening that so many people don't know this song or will never hear it. I don't know if you like the group Asia, but they also have one of their best songs which is relatively unknown. The title of the song is Without You. I hope you check it out. It's not as good as Tunnel Of Love, but it should have been more recognized than it was.
As well as your great taste in music, I love you more than any other reactor because you don't pause and interrupt every 10 seconds with unnecessary comments. ❤
On our way to Alnwick, we stayed overnight in Whitley Bay near what is left of the Spanish CIty. Next morning, we stood on the sea front, near the Spanish City building, with a ice-cream in hand, looking over the waves to Cullercoats and singing the song in our heads.

@@carp1118 Wow, that's so interesting. I live in Sydney and Mark doesn't tour Australia anymore, so I usually see him in Las Vegas. I think he is releasing a new album next year, so he will probably tour again after than. He must get sick of having to talk to fans all the time but it's great that he still makes the effort.

"In the roar of dust and diesel" always hits home for me. The generators powering all the rides were right there next to everyone - no Disneyland in Whitley Bay!. It was rough and ready, just like the rest of life on Tyneside at the time in the seventies.
Best performance of this song EVER!
This watching peoples reactions to songs I’ve loved forever is my new favourite pastime but I can’t stop crying 😢
I will never forget my first time hearing- 1984 Alchemie live in TV.
Lovely reaction, Rebeka. This is epic, brilliant, classic stuff by an all-time great band. I love the bit of The Supremes he does on guitar at the start.
I sat with my friend all night long listening to Dire Straits, I wish it had been YOU.
Great reaction Rebeka!
This song is a ' Work of Art' - forever loved
That was with out a doubt the best performance i had ever seen todays music has nothing to even come close to what i just saw
Such a great performance, and so many hints in the guitar solo of 'Going Home' which makes sense as this song was in part about his hometown
This solo IS a master pièce for ever....i liSten it since m'y 11. In 1987
The Spanish City was a fairground in the seaside town of Whitley Bay which is next to Cullercoats, both mentioned in the song
That live versio is spot on. Absolutely fantastic.
Always loving your reactions especially to MK and band. So glad you're feeling well. Cheers 👍🎸🎸
Thank you.✨
Two masterpieces: you and the song
At age of 51, I started playing guitar JUST because of the solo of this song dreaming of beeing able to play it one day..., I was obsessed with it! After a period of 6 months practicing almost every day I could finally play it fluently:)I still get goosebumps every time I play it, It´s such a joy, imho the best guitar solo ever composed in the history of music!
Good work man!👌
Bravo Budevska,Bravo Mark
Hi Rebeka, fabulous reaction to a fantastic live performance of one of my favourite Dire Straits tracks!Glad you enjoyed it so much & keep on rockin' beautiful lady.
Thank you.✨
This one is a MASTERPIECE 🔥🤘❤️🇫🇮
Thank you Beka for the awesome reaction. Mark Knopfler is definitely the G.O.A.T. Thank you for always changing your look and style and always looking like a million bucks!
Thank you so much.✨
Just found Tunnel of Love about two weeks ago. Ive probaly replayed it around 200 times so far.
Bruse Sprinsteen also has a song called Tunnel of Love...and that's beautiful as well..
you make the most amazing music performance all time even better thank you
As well as your great taste in music, I love you more than any other reactor because you don't pause and interrupt every 10 seconds with unnecessary comments. ❤
Yes I like that too and she gives good facial expressions which clearly show what she thinks of the song.
I always thought they had to do that to avoid UA-cam copyright violations but clearly not.
Fantastic Song
On our way to Alnwick, we stayed overnight in Whitley Bay near what is left of the Spanish CIty. Next morning, we stood on the sea front, near the Spanish City building, with a ice-cream in hand, looking over the waves to Cullercoats and singing the song in our heads.
My fave dire straits song in my fave year of all time (I’m 67 and saw them play this live in their home town of Newcastle on this tour 🔥🔥)
Love your summing up of this master piece also your reaction .
Outstanding reaction. Thanks.
Thank you.✨
"Girl you look so pretty to me" ? i think Mark was singing to you Rebeka !
GENIUS
Knopfler is the greatest guitarist that ever lived.
It's hard to disagree int it, the man's a fookin finger pickin genius 🥺
The man's too strong
I never experience time when I watch Dire Straits. There is so much to focus on that there isn't enough time. Sixteen minutes. I need 25 minutes to see it all and then I will still watch more and see more. Oh well. Enjoyed watching with you!
Hi Miss Rebeka !!! Glad you are feeling Much Better now , it's never any fun being Sick 😷 !!! As Always the Like Button 🔘 has been Illuminated 😁👍👍😎🤗 Warmest Regards from the Sunshine State of Florida the USA 🌞🌅🏝️🌴🎵🎶🎸🎹
Note . Miss Rebeka if you enjoy the Key boards you might like STYX as well !!!
Hi Rebeka, I find your reaction just as entertaining as the performance of the best band ever......More gorgeous. muwahhhhhhhhh
My favorite band ever. And I saw them live... Great.
Hi Rebeka. Always good to hear this great song about my home town, as mentioned in the song ,and the Spanish City fairground, sadly no longer there. Cheers Rebeka
Is it really gone? ☹️
I thought it was still there.
@@thedutchfisherman7078the fairground has gone but the main building is still there.
Damn good music! I'm glad you're so young and you like this music...I was so young like you when I heard Sultans of Swing for the first time. I instantly fell in love with Dire Straits!!!
Cada música ao vivo do DS, é uma obra única. Você nunca vai ver a mesma versão de uma música. E nunca vai conseguir escolher a melhor versão. Já perdi a conta de quantas vezes assisti ao show Alchemy. Pra mim o registro de uma noite perfeita. Mas esta da BIA Tour, também é fantástica.
My brother hooked me up with Dire Straits by leaving a cassette tape in my car, I put it on whilst driving out of boredom and ignored him for a couple of weeks until I brought another one, I was hooked, sadly my brother is no longer with us, but he's still with me in soul,
It was great to listen again TOL one of the greatest songs of MK/DS and also a good choice to pick the BIA tour cause one of the members of the band, Mr.Jack sonny died last week. R.I.P Jack
Love this song. Love your reaction. And if it's not inappropriate to say, you are absolutely stunning.
Thank you.✨
KNOFLER PLAYING GUITAR ON HIS FINGERS SOUND PERFECT ❤❤
Omg, listening to it, it takes me to place's where's life is just so pure, so simple, full of love, ànd, if you listen very carefully, in the first part, the instrumentals, you'll hear the genius of Mark Knopfler, intersperse, part of the song, stop, in the name of love, omg, I can hear him singing it in my mind, pure genius, it's goin' be a absolute heart breaker of a time when we get the news of Mark Knopfler passing on .. Mark Knopfler, you need to live forever, you'll live forever in all of our hearts....
A beautiful reaction from you .
AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
R.I.P. Jack Sonni (the rhythm guitarist) Recently passed away.
THIS SONG GO UNDER MY SKIN❤❤
I love mark always have a genuis on a guitar .
That intro is so nice. Could be a song in itself.
If you listen closely, you'll hear part of the song, stop, in the name of love, before you break my heart... I can hear MK singing it in my mind.....
Grazie a Dio che c'ha donato i Dire Straits...assolo finale da brividi e bella reaction😃👍
✨Thank You✨
Pure joy!
