Hi, I have a T6, with "C" rail. Is it possible to use the same bracket set that you used, only use it without the adapters which are screwed directly to the roof? Is it possible to mount it without the Sika glue?
Hi Benc1977, thanks for watching this video and for your question. If I understand correctly then you have the c rail which sits in the channel running the length of the roof. In that case, I would say no, it wouldn't be possible as the mounts need to be installed using the adapters as there is no other way to fix them to the roof. Honestly speaking, I'm no expert on the different configurations so I'd defo recommend visiting a local van converter who will be better able to advise you than I can. As for the sikaflex, I tried without using it but after just a day or so I noticed the brackets were lifting away from the van when I went over the slightest bump in the road and this had potential to damage the paint. I did try with some rubber pads between the mounts and the body but it didn't work as I expected. As much as I didn't want to use the sika, I am glad I did in the end. Hope this helps! ⚔

@@Redf322 I bought it at a camping/caravan store over here in Europe. Regarding the fittings, be careful as the california fittings are different as they accommodate for the pop-top roof. You may want to contact a Fiamma dealer to double check, make sure you're getting the right fittings. found these guys for you - www.fiammaonline.com ⚔

Hi Daniel, it went ok. We used fishing line and a sawing motion to cut through the bulk of it then a rubber thing yo get the rest off. Paint was relatively undamaged and can hardly see anything once polished. Hope this helps! ⚔
Hi Robert, do you mean 2 & 3 of the roof mounts? If so, then no because the areas of support (for the awning weight) are at the ends and the holes for the retaining screws are also at the ends. You could drill new holes but I wouldn't recommend it based purely on the load bearing weight distribution. ⚔
@@1ManAndHisVan I have a tent box on roof with rails ? So need to somehow mount the roof awning but I don’t want to drill into the van wanna utilise the 2 holes which are holes 2 & 3 on the actual van is there a way to connect maybe to roof rails ?

The only observation I have is that I didn’t see you check for clearance of the tailgate when open - I saw you move the awning back a fraction when you had placed it on the van?

How did you go with removing the brackets & Sikaflex? Did the Sikaflex do any damage to the paint?

You can but it would be a hassle. The brackets anyway need to be permanently fixed. ⚔️
