It's honestly shocking to see the quality of the original footage, I didn't expect it to look half as good.
Digital cameras in 1996 were pretty badass!
this scene hurts even more in this quality godddd
oh Man, the mic on top of the scene is golden!!
Wow, what a dramatic difference!
I'm honestly speechless, this is so awesome seeing this orginal footage being released after all these years! Somebody should make an HD remake of the game!
I love the pumping ass track they put during trevor's last seconds of life.
Lmaooo
It's weird because I love the original footage but it is so jarring. It's almost like watching a TV show, soap or something.. even though that's how they probably wish it could have been had they not been limited by FMV. I almost like how the FMV slows things down and makes it more grainy, maybe I'm crazy?
You're not crazy.
This was filmed at 30fps (29.97fps to be precise) and that is the reason for the "soap opera look".
If we are to remaster Phantasmagoria 2, we'll use this footage but we'll reduce the frame rate to 24fps to give it the "cinematic look"
@@criticalmoment3859 film speed was not changed.
If it would have been changed then I wouldn't have been able to create the side-by-side comparison so seamlessly.
Thank you so much for posting this. I know Gary Spinrad’s music couldn’t be saved from the warehouse fire but I’m *so* glad we have this 🧡 thank you
So friggin amazing! Needs to be recut into a movie
RIP Trevor
If memory serves me correct. It was all shot with one of the first digital camera's. supper cutting edge.
Yeah, they used a Digital Betacam
Awesome!!
It’s amazing to see this in HD
This looks amazing! Thank you for sharing this! =)
Our pleasure, Dustin. And thank YOU for joining our Patreon family. Welcome aboard.
DO THE HECATOMB PLS :D
Love it! Keep 'em coming - "The Domain" approves! ;)
Well great! Now I want a re-release with the uncompressed video!
*sees heart*
I *heard* that Curtis... /: )
Really cool.....😎👍
The original looks like it was shot in this decade; very crisp. Also somehow the blurrier in-game footage adds a lot of atmosphere and mystique. If the game were a movie I'd hate but I love it since it's not. I feel that in a game part of the fun is being able to fill some gaps with your imagination. When Trevor is launched backwards it looks much more amateurish to me in the original footage because you cannot see any special effects (wire work or what not) in either version but in the sharper original footage the presumed attempt to save time and money simply by adjusting the shot to have Trevor to the corner of the screen and making Trevor jump back or be pulled back by an assistant seems much more obvious to me and gives the scene a cheaper feel. Since the in-game footage is much more blurry and presumably watched on a computer screen as opposed to a huge television it just works better because you get to fill gaps with your imagination OR you don't notice the cheap solutions.
@mies vailla nykyisyyttä - Is this a dream or just a fantasy? You seem to think and write exactly like I do. It feels like watching myself type out stuff.
@@vaniljapulla I suppose it's the Finnish view of Phantasmagoria 2.
Keep em coming guys... love it!
Let's make a deal, every time one video reaches 1K, I'll release the next one.
(e.g. yesterday's video is almost 1K so you got today's video)
How does that sound?
Deal...as long as you keep your word Mr. Albu (aka Mr. Hintkeeper)
@@mjl4854 I always keep my word
👍
This cutscene made me remember. The writers for this game love using 'Son of a bitch' 😂
Assuming that was a far as they could take the language.
Next time I'm making a super cut!
Don't forget that there are several F-bombs in the game!
@@danielalbu I'll have to do another play through! It's been a while but I honestly only remember a lot of 'son of a bitch' 😄
Amazing quality! I love it
I love this so much!
:D
what's the resolution of the raw footage?
720x486 (standard NTSC resolution)
