I've picked up a copy of Phantasmagoria 2 In Tallinn, 1998. I was 11 at the time, going through a massive shop center, where NES (yellow cartridge - Dendy) knockoff's used to sell 1st. Estonia was young, coming off it's 91 independence from the curtain. Two games i picked up, with my dad's permission: Alien Trilogy Dos compatible and "Goreophobia 2" Best translation i can give it from the rough semi-russian bootleg title that was printed on the box. Both games were a hit with me, still play them/rewatch them to this day. Not because they stood out but rather counter intuitive , for their bizarre nature to either rewrite the rules or go completely against them. Good to see you again "in the flesh" Curtis, now i know your name is Paul. Glad to see you've been well. Will continue to follow you and let the adventures continue. All the best!

It was my very favourite game for years! Now I put in randomly "Hello Curtis Phantasmagoria" to UA-cam because it popped into my mind and who do I see?!
Gosh, you look great! I was only 16 when I played with this game first, but time changed me a lot more, I have to admit.
I found the part what I came for: when you call yourself on the phone and ....aaaargh!Goosebumps. It's a masterpiece! I played it through again about a decade ago so guess what time it is!
Thank you for all the fun and the nostalgia. This game is on the same level on my list as Alan Wake, hence the graphics. I loved the acting even though it must have been hard to play such short parts.

I‘ve played and finished the game for the first time a couple days ago. I had never heard of it before and discovered it while watching a video series called „Spiele mit Bart“ (Games with beard)
Most people make fun of the game, because of its cheesiness. And I must admit, I did burst out laughing a couple of times, because the German voice over for this game is even way more cheesy. Nonetheless, I do love this game!

This playthrough reminds me of many hours in my teens I spent playing this - I got it for Christmas when I was 16 or 17, I’m 42 now 🤣. At the time this was like cutting edge stuff - I remember being so impressed with it and the first one lol. We didn’t have internet so there was no access to guides so it took me ages to complete 🤣. Good times!

Wyntech having Jocilyn to keep an eye on Curtis makes a lot of sense. Being in a relationship with him was just part of the job, but it became more than that overtime. Though, that might be because I think Curtis, being what he is, gives off some kind of vibe (maybe a pheromone of some kind from his alien origin) that makes people seem to want to be around him for more than his witty/ dark humor. I haven't watched the Lorelei interview yet, so I don't know yet if any of this was discussed.

I really enjoyed this too. I like the pace you have set. Don't feel rushed. For someone that plays this game every year, and still owns the original in box, I appreciate all the small details and seeing you play it is definitely a ton of fun.

I started playing this game a week ago. I'm very glad I found this. I love Sierra's adventure games.
I discovered this game when I was 10 (yes I know, my mom has never been really PEGI-friendly...). And I just loved the game, the characters and I now know it by heart !

"simple passwords back in the '90s"
Even in the 2010s folks were still using their pets' names as passwords. I was one of them. XD
These games brings me back. Usually one only had maybe 10-15 games and almost no Internet connections (barely knew how to use the Internet).
So it was just you and one of the few games you had. It's easy to be patient when one is limited.
I really only know this game from Spoony's playthrough way back and it is cool that you've embraced the Pocket Tee and have fun with it.
When I first saw this movie/game I was like Whoa this are getting crazy the characters the love interest the scary moments it was just great I’m glad this was made
I wasn't lucky enough to have played this game as a kid, but having watched the likes of Scarfulhu and Ross cover it, I've come to appreciate the work put in. I understand it was the director's passion project, she was one of the people in the BDSM club right?
Well then, it's strange in getting used to Curtis Craig playing as Curtis Craig.
In seriousness, you're doing pretty decently grand for this gameplay back down Memory Lane with Phantasmagoria 2. The striking highlights of the game were definitely the moments shared with you and Trevor, especially with that famous "Baked Potato" story at the diner. Definitely love the redone logo you have for your channel around WynTech! : D
Edit: I don't know why, but the only other thing I remember from this game out of everything...was The Borderline Club. Not sure whether it was due to the erotic nature of the environment by Ragna with you or the music (maybe both), it's actually quite great on realizing how ambient this game had for myself.
A true Classic game. Still own the Cd Roms. But since Steams release Was able to install it on our laptop. It was a creative and innovative Sci Fi story for sure!
Next-level meta! With an element of time-travel, even! Figuratively speaking, that is. I remember Spoony-go-nuts doing a Let's Play of this eons ago-go.
I loved the first game Phantasmagoria but it gave me alot of goose bumps... I preferred the second game because the story seems even better to me and it is less spooky i find :)

For just an outside perspective, I wasn’t alive to play the game and only see it now as a viewer i.e. the story and choose-your-adventure choices. So beyond people’s issues with the difficulty etc, I think it’s one of the games that will really stick with me! Will probably check out others’ playthroughs as well to see what they think of the story. Thanks for the reply Paul 🤓

Super fun Let's Play. Love the additional storis and trivia you add to your gameplay.
You might want a walkthrough handy for a few parts. I remember their are a few points where you need to do something specific to move forward, then there is the toolbox later, where you must combine two tools in a specific way, in order to open it the right way (from what i remember). Thats the way these games were made. You travel to all locations, click on everything, then realize you missed an object you could click on. If you're doing this live, then knowing where you are going might save you 20 mins here and there of trying to figure out what the game want you to do next:) Love the fact you're doing this! add-on: You might want to rename the title to get more views, call it "[your name] (Curtis) Plays Phantasmagoria 2 - Part One" or something similar. When i saw "Paul Plays P2" I almost skipped by the video because lots of people just use their first name, I didnt recognize yours, and I didn't get what P2 was until I looked closer at the thumbnail and recognized the game. Just trying to help, thanks for listening.

The plot of Phantasmagoria 2 was based on the logic of the original writers. If the player deviates from that logic, it doesn't make any sense. But playing it was still an enjoyable experience. 😉

Wow this is a surreal moment. I loved your game in 96 right as I was coming out of high school. It was one of my all time favorite PC games. The story and some of the cutscenes have always stuck with me over the decades. Thank you so much for creating this channel, things like seeing you actually play...... this makes technology so cool.

I like the sacond game a bit more then the first one but i can't help but think people had one idea when starting the development and then went with another and changed it.
Childhood's End is an Arthur C. Clarke novel from 1954 about a peaceful alien invasion that brings an age of prosperity at the cost of human identity and culture. Eventually it's revealed that humanity's identity as individuals is coming to an end, and the last generation of children born form a collective intelligence, and the aliens go around preparing species to join the Overmind, a collective intelligence on a cosmic scale.
The House Next Door is a 1978 horror novel by Anne Rivers Siddons, and it's about a newly built house where three different families live in over two years and have their lives systematically destroyed by insanity and murder. It's revealed at the end that the architect who built the house is, unbeknownst to him, cursed, and anything he makes will be infected with evil similar to the house he built.
Murder Beach was much harder to find, given that so many titles have "Murder" and "Beach" in the name, and I got one false positive from a book published in 2017 with the same title. With Bookfinder, I was able to narrow it down to a novel published in 1993 by Bridget McKenna, and it's so obscure, I can't find much of anything about it. Apparently it's about a private detective who attends her high school reunion and is asked by her best friend to investigate a murder in the area.
I don't think there's any meaning behind the books. The House Next Door's plot about insanity and murder is more comparable to Phantasmagoria 1, but that's about it.

i love part 2 i just find the ending parts are strange,
i'm finally catching up on this let's play and it's so fun - but in the beginning it's really like going to work at the office. xD
It really is.
The game itself was maybe mediocre, while the character of Trevor was presented brilliantly, in the 90s homosexuals were shown rather as freaks, and here we had a plain, nice guy who only dated men, timeless :)

Is it supposed to be clear what city this is set in? I don't recognize that map shape at all. Similarly, where were the Wyntech cube scenes filmed? Were those real cubicles? If not, props to whoever put all that together!
Oh, you actually said! Seattle... Looks like over in Bellevue. Interesting. My question still stands on the cubes though, unless you answer that too later!
I think I do. But, to answer it here, we worked on real sets and locations in and around Seattle. Zero blue/green screen until the end of the game.
You did, at the start of the next video I think! (Sorry for being a little behind.) I'm actually really impressed that the apartment and the cube farm were sets. They both look a little odd for sure, but they look so... real! It actually makes some of the prop choices seem extra bizarre. A super real-looking cube farm, and yet Trevor decorated his with four globes?
at 1:08:15 I don't think that is a flow. in the scene before he was very quiet. In the next scene she was very loud, so all in the office can hear her.

As CwC moves onto exploring different games next year, I plan to continue this series on a slightly different scale as there are still so many P2 actors and designers I haven't got to, yet. Don is at the top of that list.

I was thinking it'd be cool to have him on your Let's Play of P2 when you get to the part of the game with his (rather gruesome) death scene. It'd be great to see his reactions and get his perspective on what it was like to film it, what the makeup application was like, etc. Just a thought. :)

It's a shame you remember the reviews as just overwelmingly bad. As I recall, the first 90% of the game was really immersive and pretty great, and the criticism should have only been aimed at the ending (which, hopefully you don't mind me saying so, was a bizarre miss.) But this was still something amazing for its time, and more memorable for me than even some of the "hits!"

@@ConversationsWithCurtis Below the video, there is a tile with the game which is being reported in the video options as being played. This tile has "Resident Evil (2002)" declared.
But we just checked our playthrough videos too and it appears that Google has removed "Puzzle of Flesh" from its gaming list...Weird :/

Weird. Can I delete the "Resident Evil" tile from my end? If so, how? The only other option I can see is that the first Phantasmagoria in the gaming directory is listed. I could use that, I suppose, since it's at least related to P2??
@@ConversationsWithCurtis Go into the UA-cam studio, go to the content tab and click on the details page for this video. The option that looks like a pencil. Then scroll all the way down to the bottom of the details page and there's an option that says "category". Right under that option is where you can change the game that you are playing. However, I checked in my Creator studio, phantasmagoria 2 doesn't seem to be an option that you can put as the game you're playing.

BTW, this is in "Edit Video" -> "More Options" -> Under Category when Category is "gaming"
