The reason that you would bounce tracks is that you are going from the MPC Master Clock to the logic as a Master Clock. This can significantly change the groove of your beat. By bouncing the track you keep the MPC Groove and then you can cut and paste in logic from there.
This unlocked a huge cheat code for me - you can also set different MPC tracks to the different bus outputs… thank you so much for taking your time to make this video. 🍻
Anyone looking at an MPC Live at the moment: This really has no use case except for applying plug-in effects to individual MPC tracks. You can hear all the unmuted tracks in the MPC plugin via LPX plug in channel that's created when you initially load up the MPC plugin. From a sequencing standpoint, you'll end up having to work out how to trigger Sequences in MPC from Logic Pro X, because it's quite likely that you're writing songs that have more than one part. The reason people export audio is because they will get the loop right, and then place it where they want in the Logic Pro sequencer, never needing to worry about it again. The MPC live isn't the best home studio companion but it's the best dedicated portable sequencer/sampler in the market. I write 2-4 sequence songs in MPC, focusing on my beats and bass first. I then go to Logic Pro to add more (sometimes deleting taking midi from the MPC track, to a better plug in instrument which I'll use via Logic).
This is just an alternate workflow, one which is more geared towards daw users. Mpc is designed for standalone use, but because we live in a world where we need to use daws for recording you need to be able to have flexible external gear.
Excellent video, I just switched over to Logic so this helped a lot! A friend of mine used to say as a rule, K.I.S.S. "keep it simple stupid!". So this was the perfect solution, thanks again !!

I’ve done the whole “exploding” the tracks then bouncing them in to Logic, but I think I like your approach. Because I too don’t have the time to be bouncing stuff. I’m currently recovering from brain damage! Lol
Your welcome!! I saw a ton of videos where people were bouncing and it just really did make me question why people where doing it. Your already in the program... why bounce out of it and then bring the audio back in?
How do you bounce the tracks out into the aux channels in logic once this is setup though? When I try nothing happens, and there is no record enable buttons on each of the auxs?
I know this was years ago but now we can use VSTs in controller mode on the MPC is anyone still doing this? Also is it true this method will affect any swing you have programmed?
Thanks for this! I was setting up my mpc one to control the vst in Logic with the new update this morning and this is working well except that I can only route my TRACKS out to the different outputs/auxiliary tracks. Pad mixer says it’s “unavailable in the plug-in.” Is this a new limitation or have I missed a step?
How tight is the audio playback of the Akai within Logic? Basically if you have other audio parts in logic do they sync tight with the Akai software ? Also when you press play on the transport bar in Logic there is no delay correct ? Great Video Thank You!!
I use the software not the controller and sync with the daw. Because I’m not using the Mpc transport it works flawlessly. When I was trying to sync with the daw using the Mpc transport I had hella problems. This is why I abandoned that workflow and only use Ableton for everything sequencer wise.
I don’t think it works for the newest logic version and the most recent mPc software update. I can’t get the inst track to make aux tracks in logic. I’m going back to Protools.
This is very helpful and is saving me a lot of time. how do you get the sounds in block form on to logic? I was just dragging and dropping the audio file in.
Long Money do u no if this works for the midi drag export option aswell? Basically when i drag the midi from mpc to logic to arrange the song in midi in logic. The sounds play & it works through aux output but when I’m ready to export the song & need to change the midi in logic to audio, it doesn’t record/bounce/export anything in audio. Theres just nothing, hope that makes sense & anybody can help?
In logic the multi mode is in the pull down menu or it use to be. I have not looked at it in a long time. It still supports multi mode because you have to be able to divide out your drum tracks/instruments. You may want to look at the manual for the Mpc vst to see what it says about multi.
Nejon Studio the point I was making in this video is that you don’t need to bounce your audio out to stems. You can add and use the vst as is and complete your whole song inside the daw. Most of the other videos I have seen people spend hours bouncing out MPC data only to bring it back into the same daw as audio data when you don’t have to do that.
In the old days, it was just to play piano and sequence your song and that was it. With today's technology, a piano player or musician does it all. He/She is responsible for building the beat and synchronizing the tracks with MIDI and then rebuilding the tracks in Logic ProX with a MIDI track and a Audio track and more. So today there is so much more a musician has to do to be able to record and create from home. But it's a beautiful thing because we now have access to a lot for a fraction of the price. So yes you are a normal person and it takes more to understand alot of this stuff, but you get it down and you can create GOLD and PLATINUM projects for a fraction of the price.

Very helpful video! I am having trouble figuring out one thing-- is it possible to transfer Logic stems straight from the open project in Logic into MPC software? This would make my life a lot easier because i am trying to fill MPC One with music produced in Logic. (Getting ready to do a live show with MPC, no computer.) I know that I could export all the stems to an external location and drag them in to MPC software manually but I am hoping to find a way to transfer everything directly within Logic, just like you can with Logic's Sampler. I think it would save a lot of time...
You're going down a ruff path my friend. I have to tell you after trying that workflow and trying to force the MPC to be my sequencer... I would recommend you stay with using Logic to do the sequencing and use the MPC software like a vst sound source. The workflow gets to be too complex and when you're working on large pieces having to remember to save the song in the MPC software and the rest in logic will cost you some time loss. I only use the MPC software as a sound source in Ableton now. It is too much of a pain trying to force the MPC software which is not that great at building out tracks with to be a DAW like source.
@@Ast3rixMusic Wow. Thanks for the quick reply and honesty. Would you say for a DAW-less live show MPC would be helpful or is MPC just not the answer for you in that situation? (Or is DAW-less not the answer?) I am basically wanting something like a multitrack looper but more flexible/safe... though I might just have to chance it with loopers. My "DAW" use of MPC might also be a lot simpler than the way you would want to use yours.
@@sbstiangil it’s great for live shows and dawless setups. Just know that for transfer of that back to your daw it’s more work. The machine I am using in my dawless setup is the akai force. @@Ast3rixMusic great thanks very much again for the replies and great content. I think I’ll just do the old way and sample all my stems through Audio In. Not worried about transferring back to DAW for now
I don’t like having to work with stems from something that should allow a cleaner method. This is why I am only using it as a sound source now. All the midi is saved into my daw.
Tieler Yadon I don’t see why this trick wouldn’t work unless akai changed something in the driver. I no longer have the physical Mpc touch to use for testing so I suggest just trying it.
Thanks for helping me understand this, but in Logic, how do I sample audio into the MPC plugin? It seems to only let me record or sample audio when I'm using the MPC software app and not the plugin in Logic.

Your track 1 in the arrange screen is still blank however I do see the midi triggering the audio from the original location.
That's correct all the midi information is contained in the MPC vst plugin. I will look at it again to see if there is a way to print the data to the track. It's sometimes useful if you want to trigger something else in the mix.
@@Ast3rixMusic Yes if your absolutely done this is a great method. People bounce because they usually go back and do some extra tweaking from inside the daw. Good alternative though and great video thanks for your contribution.
SirMalikCobra thank you for sharing your thoughts. I always thought it was time consuming bouncing out tracks only to bring them right back into the same daw. I mix down so much faster and then I can bounce out my final mix and pull that stereo mix into whatever and master. I like being able to change instrument patches. Add effects without having to re-record. Right now I’m looking to see if the midi data can be written to the tracks for the MPC vst. I treat them like audio tracks and make my changes to them via the software, but others may want to copy the data to use to trigger other things etc. seems like you should be able to copy that data from the software, but I have to test it first.
Yes, you can export out the midi data by going to file export, then select export current sequence. You can save it where you want, then just drag it into your DAW as desired.
Alfie Taylor you can either leave it in the vst or copy and paste the midi from the vst. I find it easier to deal with the midi direct in the daw and not inside the vst because then you have to deal with saving the song and that takes up space.
Logic is the easiest to run MPC. Great video and with this i finally subbed your channel. Keep up the great work!!! Have you notice or run into MPC crashes reason now with the update?
No I haven't run into any crashes at all. It's been running smooth and I've not had any video strangeness lately either... also thank you for the sub bro. Glad this helps.
good video, I've been trying to connect my MPC live to Logic Pro so that I can use my mpc sounds and I can hear the sounds after I assigned each pad to 3,4 5,6 etc... but when I go to record and lay down kicks and snares it does not record, if any help id appreciate
If your building out a track using this method when you use your daws export you can bounce out tracks if needed. Also my current method of only using the Mpc software for sounds has made my life with it even more easier. The machine itself has nothing special about it. All of the once believed special timing can be done in your daw. I have freed myself of it period and am working with it as a sound source only and am loving this easy workflow!!!
@@EdeSpaghetti1979 Hi, I think this is more of a personal question. Every DAW is different and provides tools unique to the person that uses it. I like both DAWS and they both have alot of things that are the same and some differences. The best I can offer you is this... write down your needs and goals. Look at both and from your needs see which one fits. You can use the trial versions.. garage band is like the trial version of logic. Ableton offers a 90 day trial for Ableton. Take your time with each one and see what fits your needs.
mannyp914 if I remember correctly this video covers how to use the Mpc controller as a midi device. Audio comes from your daw and the track that you selected to have the software on. If there are no midi notes on track with the software there will be no sound. I suggest you review how you are using the software.
@@Ast3rixMusic My mistake. I meant midi, not audio. Once i lay out the drum pattern i want in the MPC, i hit record in logic and it doesn't record any of the midi that i played out in the MPC. I see the response in Logic's mixer, but it doesn't actually record the midi
mannyp914 copy the notes from the software and place it into the track so it will trigger. Personally this is why I gave up this method because it introduces more things to do in the workflow. I now only use the Mpc soft as a sound source. I create midi notes on my track to trigger the sounds from the Mpc software.
@@Ast3rixMusic So u create ur midi notes on Logic to trigger ur MPC. Can u have multiple tracks with sounds from different programs from ur MPC? or can u only have one program at a time? If i have multiple tracks with sounds from different programs loaded onto my MPC, Logic only triggers one program at a time. For instance, say i have 3 tracks loaded on my MPC plugin, 1 drums, 1 bass, 1 keys. When i go to play all 3 of them in Logic, it'll only play whichever track i have highlighted in the MPC, and the other 2 won't play.
Better yet, at some point can u make a short video showing how u do it now? Side bar.......you’re the shit for even responding as quickly as u r. Really appreciate it 🙌🏽
Now you know that’s the truth. We don’t have time for a lot of complexity when your allowing your creativity to work. I have moved on to a very simple setup and stopped worrying about a lot of crazy stuff. I have noticed my music is sounding a lot different in comparison to just a few years ago. Progress is imminent when your focused on improvement.
Logic is not my native daw. I however remember that there is a multi track feature for the akai software. There should be some documentation on this process available on their website. Once you have the tracks defines it’s just a matter of using the Mpc software like you normally would and then recording your finished beats into logic. Like tracking in the Mpc software and using logic as your recorder.
Sorry.. what are you trying to do? If you're trying to route the MPC to your DAW I can tell you from personal experience it will add complexity to your setup that maybe a creativity killer.

No I haven't run into any crashes at all. It's been running smooth and I've not had any video strangeness lately either... also thank you for the sub bro. Glad this helps.
Are you connected using a standard midi cable or thru USB?
I was using the standard usb.
@@Ast3rixMusic do you use any other external synths connected via USB?
@@MJamesIII at the time of recording that video no. I was only using the Mpc touch and vsts.
good video, I've been trying to connect my MPC live to Logic Pro so that I can use my mpc sounds and I can hear the sounds after I assigned each pad to 3,4 5,6 etc... but when I go to record and lay down kicks and snares it does not record, if any help id appreciate
Dont'e Brown your welcome!!

I'm actually having this problem, can anyone help?
How do you arrange if you don't bounce it?
If your building out a track using this method when you use your daws export you can bounce out tracks if needed. Also my current method of only using the Mpc software for sounds has made my life with it even more easier. The machine itself has nothing special about it. All of the once believed special timing can be done in your daw. I have freed myself of it period and am working with it as a sound source only and am loving this easy workflow!!!
@@Ast3rixMusic hi thank you for this Awesome video.. I just got one Question do you prefer Abelton or Logic which is the best for the Mpc..
If I start a project in standalone mode, can I access it in the VST?
Nick Ocampo yes as long as you saved it.
Were you using the blue usb cable to your Mac while doing this or the standard midi outputs?
Terrell James the standard usb midi cable.
Unfortunately Multi-out hasn’t been an option for me anymore 🤬… anyone else?
This was extremely helpful!!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent explanation, thank you!
Thanks 👍🏾
I'm assuming you can do this with the MPC Element VST/AU plugin as well as opposed to only vst 2.3?
I can only qualify the MPC vst softwares functionality with this process. I’m not familiar with element.
@@Ast3rixMusic I have MPC Element and Logic X Pro. Will try it and let you know my results.
4iamu awesome thanks lots of people from the forums watch these videos and the comments help.
Thank you so much !
💯
how do you actually record? whenever i try to record any audio nothing happens
mannyp914 if I remember correctly this video covers how to use the Mpc controller as a midi device.
Really appreciate it 🙌🏽
You track audio into logic so it can be mixed down before a pro master, a mix engineer wants control over every sound.
yooooooooo lmao had me dying laughing !! i dont have time for all that lmao
Now you know that’s the truth. We don’t have time for a lot of complexity when your allowing your creativity to work. I have moved on to a very simple setup and stopped worrying about a lot of crazy stuff. I have noticed my music is sounding a lot different in comparison to just a few years ago. Progress is imminent when your focused on improvement.
i love you. THANK YOU
Glad this helped!!!
Thanks!!
I just got my MPC one. Oh boy. . .
It's the same workflow as NI Machine.
ok now how do you track into logic??? lol
I thought you said no brain damage required. You sent us bread dead from the get go. we all know why we're here. 2:30 minutes of it...
I'm now more confused😨
no disrespect but this video takes wayyyyyy to long to get what I need and still cant lol
Sorry.. what are you trying to do? If you're trying to route the MPC to your DAW I can tell you from personal experience it will add complexity to your setup that maybe a creativity killer.
NO multi-output and there is NO WHERE to find a fix.
