Foldable sunglasses by Persol. These are polarized which is a must in my opinion. In this video, I show how to properly fold the 714 Steve McQueen sunglasses to prevent scratching.
Appreciate the detail and clear demonstration in this video. They are well made glasses but require a bit of care in folding unfolding to avoid unnecessary scratches or bending out of shape.
None of them are the Steve McQueen edition. Misleading title. Please be fair and adjust the title. :-/

Oof, there is a fourth difference to the Steve McQueen one. The side hinch folds horizontal and not vertical. I am therefore not able to open the sunglasses I just got. I am literally not able to open it as the ear part is blocked by the main frame and I would have to use force to get past it. Either I am missing something or I am lost
Okay, I did not have to use “force”, I was just scared to break it. Got it open now :)
Just got these, think they got a defect, the left arm, won’t lock in smoothly into the hinge. I have to force it in. Then to close up and fold I have to apply strong pressure to unlock again. The other arm folds up and down just fine. Any idea how I can fix or should I go warranty?
I literally fell asleep within the first 4 hours of watching this unboxing when I woke I was 2 years older!
Good review. I just got those exact ones, and got it for a pretty good price at Amazon. Question: Can you recommend any hard case to store them folded? I can also just get a regular case, but it'll defeat the purpose of being foldable.
When folded in the soft case, it's pretty rugged.
I know this is a late reply but I use a Persol case that comes with the model 0649. Basically a longer version of the case shown here. I dont really need to fold mine all the time so it works great.
The differences from the Steve McQueen version and the 714s.. the hinges are completely different, the legs fold tward the lenses, the case is hard leather, but not so protective (I never use it, because it is way to tight for them) and the most important, the lenses are crystal polarised, not plastic like on the 714.. 😉
I was about to write a similar comment 😅 I've uploaded my review recently and wondered what others thinkn of SM and found that many people don't know differences between SM and regular 714s :)
Both of your glasses look very good man :) I am also considering to buy original 714 instead of steve mcqueen version. I am going to buy polarised and as far as I know we have 3 color choices. You already have both of them and the third one is with a blue tint. Which one would you reccomend me for daily wear (it will be my first glasses) I’m 18. Thanks 🙏🏽
I would get the polarized with the brown frames/brown shades; the black/green is cool too, but not as unique as the brown in my opinion. It's also the one I keep wearing the most. Either way you can't go wrong! Let me know which one you get!

I decided to buy Havana/Crystal Polarized Blue Gradient colorway with 54 mm. I’m not sure if 54 mm will fit my face but we will see in the future. I took risk to use the blue lens version, they didn’t have 52 mm version. Sorry if my English is bad.

some shops in my country appear to be official retailers of rayban oakley etc. but not persol. Could there be a chance they sell "fake" or lesser quality persols while still having originals in other brands? they do appear on the luxxotica website or the brand website... so they must be selling originals of those brands. And I'm not sure that a 320$ 714 persol is the same as sold on Eyerim for 180$

You’re forgetting the main difference: the 714SM temples fold inward which eliminates the problem you’re having with the hinges scratching the inside your lenses.
I am pretty sure the problem still exists with the SMQ version.
