My favorite lenses are Persol Blue gradient polarized. And I own many high end sunglasses. The Persol polarized blue gradient lenses are pretty much unmatched in contrast, comfort and overall optics.
Everyone should have at least one pair of Persol in their sunglass collection and if you are only going to have one pair of Persol its gotta be a 714sm

Great review especially with regard to the fine details of the different folding and the temples. I was able to purchase matching color SM temples for my regular 714's and swapped them. I did require some adaptation/adjustment of the temples to fit around my ears nicely. I prefer the parallel shape of the temples of the SM version as they are not so thin as they wrap around the ears.
As far as the SM version, I don't care for the blue gradient lenses that they usually come with.

I own but rarely wear the SM's.
The good: These are classics and every time I put them on I'm reminded of how they put many of my other sunglasses to shame, at least when it comes to style. Pure Hollywood. On the right face, they are magic.
The bad: they are heavy and slide down my nose. Constantly. I've tried adjusting them, but never could get it right. Never had that issue with with other pairs. It's a shame because they are surprisingly well made too. I think they tend to look better on the older than 35 crowd. My $0.02
Hi. Have you tried bending the ear rest after dipping them in warm water.
This method works like magic for acetate frames and is a permanent solution to this problem. There are videos on UA-cam, on how to do this. Just give it a try. 👍
If you take them to a professional they should be able to adjust them to fit perfectly! However like you said they are heavy and depending on your nose shape it’s possible they will always tend to slide down after a while! Thanks for the comment!
For me I've found it to be the opposite. My SMs fit perfectly, I never have to push them back up my nose. I did have this issue with my 649s though, I got so fed up with constantly adjusting them that I gave them away.
Just got a pair of 714. To be honest, I had never heard of Persol prior to purchase, I saw them, loved them and bought them. great sunglasses.
I own a pair of 714 sm's even in the original colour 24/56 (dark havana, blue lenses), so I favour them. but I like the classic look of Persol sunglasses so I have a few other models too, including the 649

I got both 714 and 714SM honestly, the SM’s leg is suck and poor design. Go the original 714
I WISH THEY HAD LARGER SIZE OF THESE GLASSES. 54 MM IS JUST TOO SMALL ON MY FACE.
Forgive me if it was mentioned in the video, but are the lenses on the PO 714s the polarized light blue gradient? They look fantastic, and I would be kicking myself if I ordered anything else.
The SM versions come with polarized lenses as standard.
The "normal" 714 is sold with either choice.

I'm surprised neither the video or comments mention the SM version shown here have the photochromic lenses, which are particularly rare. Notice the 'Ph P' on the lens close-up (Photochromic Polarised).
As far as I can tell, Persol isn't making the 714SM with these lenses anymore. Can anyone confirm this, or tell me otherwise? Thanks.

And yes for some reason they mostly discontinued there photochromic lenses
@@ShadeReview Hi! Speaking of the lenses. Are the lenses of both models the exact same fit? Cause my current lenses of my regular 714s got pretty scratched up, and i’d like to replace them with the blue one of the SM model. Will it fit?
And more importantly, where would i be able to buy these replacement lenses? And do all 714 lenses, whether they’re the ones that come with the sunglasses or original replacement ones, all carry the “Persol” name engraving on the right eye lense?
I'd like the glasses you look great in them but I don't like the glasses for the the design it's too many parts that can break it's got too many parts that can break too many folding parts eventually they'll break people getting a hurry people want to get them on quick I have no desire for this type of style glasses even though they look beautiful they're just something that can break in a matter of time thank you for sharing your video 👍

You always have videos about the persol brand and you are constantly praising this brand. Unfortunately, it is difficult to understand what you wanted to do with this video. I think you forgot that 714 is an icon of Persol while you were vilifying 714 about quality control. If any product of a brand has a quality control problem, that mean It's the problem with all their products, including the Steve McQueen version.

the regular ones are superior because the folding mechanism is better. the SM version is a poor design choice because of the way the temples rub the lenses. the original is better
