2 years ago when I was going through the hardest time of my life, my therapist recommended me to try out new hobbies. Thats when i considered baking and came across your channel. Honestly this was a huge part of my recovery, watching and learning from your videos and trying your recipes one after another at least 4 times a week kept me busy and made me like life a bit more. Even now that Im in a better place, I still always try all your recipes and every notification from you brings me to a happy place, a place of comfort. So thank you so much John for having such an impact on my life, thank you for making me realize how much joy I get from baking. Now I'm planning to professionally go into the culinary field and I've never felt better before about anything else ! Lots of love to you, I'll always be grateful ❤
1 16 oz jar of local honey & 1 10/12 oz bag of fresh whole cranberries ( Take a toothpick and poke one hole into each cranberry) place both ingredients in a quart jar, loosely covered & leave on kitchen counter for 3/4 days. Then scoop out the cranberries, place in separate glass jar. Put both in the fridge. Tada!! Honey infused with cranberries. To put in whatever you use honey for but what a little splash of extra flavor. And then, you have those lovely fermented cranberries for all sorts of Yummies.
Correct! Melomakarona are traditional Christmas cookies in Greece, but it’s unsweetened cookies that that we dip into syrup made of honey, so they get soft, moist and sweet.
Made these today and rolled them in chopped walnuts. I bought Tupelo Honey and used this. These cookies are delicious!!! I can taste the honey and love the flavor. I’m going to experiment and make them using ordinary grocery store honey to see the difference!! Love these!!
OMG this cookie looks and sounds amazing! Although I’m gonna try it tomorrow, I can already feel it in my darn mouth!!!!! The crunch of his videos are amazing. He has his type of cookie.
I used Manuka Honey.l... have them chilling now.. will roll them in chopped pistachios that have been laced with a bit of rosewater.. I laughed hearing you crunch
Omg!!! I have been making Canelé for the past week and it made me want honey desserts (beeswax). I am OBSESSED!!! This is the BEST cookie recipe! Better than all the traditional favorites! I have never had a honey cookie before, and I’m so glad to say now I have! Thank you so much John! I’m not even kidding, SO good! Just wow!
I love that you had an inspiration while filming, and then just went for it--and showed us all of it! It's so awesome to see that adding our own flair to a recipe could end up with *amazing* results! Thank you for this delicious recipe, and the vote of confidence! 😍😍😍
I'm in Australia and here we typically eat crunchy biscuits rather than soft cookies. With 'cookie' recipes that I like the sound of like this one, I often try to "crisp them up" with a second bake after they cool from the first bake (the word biscuit means 'to cook twice'). It works well more often than not😀. Can't wait to try it with this recipe.
John, run hot water over your jars of honey or jelly or anything sweet. They kinda seal themselves. Love your channel. Love your recipes. Your cake decorating is beyond over the top! Gotta love the Virgos!! 💪💝
John, hopefully spelled correctly 😅 I just wanted to tell you that you page has brought me so much peace and joy into my life. I found your page when I was going through one of the toughest seasons of my life and decided to give baking a try since I worked from home, and sold my car so I quite literally had nothing new to do or keep life exciting. After a few recipes and many burned cookies an unexpected hobby turned into a small business. I bought a tricycle, to went store to store selling my cookies. I’ve traveled states and took the business with me to focus on mental health and move back in with family after 5 years being of on my own. This has been a constant in helping me find roots in my life again, teaching me pride in my work, and pouring joy into peoples hearts the way I’ve always wanted to. It truly feeds my soul. I’ve altered the recipes all a bit but, the Cream Cheese cookies are my best sellers. I’d love to find a way to send you some when I get figure out the shipping side of things figured out. ❤ Thank you for keeping this page alive, just thank you.
Oh, perfect timing! We have beekeeper friends who just gifted us two Mason jars of Colorado honey! I've never made honey cookies, but I'm definitely going to try this recipe 😊
Many years ago, Mo Rocco did a show on FoodNetwork, I think it was called My Grandmother's Ravioli. There was a grandmother who made honey cookies, and I had to try the recipe. They quickly became my daughter's favorite. They're so simply delicious that they're dangerous for me. I can't stop eating them until they're gone! I add about half a teaspoon of cinnamon. ❤
My Mother is Austrian and is in my opinion, the world’s best baker/pastry chef. :) Honey is a staple when she bakes and adds a flavor and texture that you can’t get from anything else. Her Lebkuchen, Nut and Poppy Seed Rolls are some of my family’s favorites.
Can you Mother bake for me?????? When I was in Vienna, I had the BEST pastries I've ever eaten. The food there was fabulous, but the desserts were out of this world.
We go to the Greek islands every year and live to buy the local honey from the little villages. So much better taste than commercial ones. Definitely going to try these x
I am Italian. Mom called these Honey Boys. Only difference is she melted honey sugar butter on stove to melting but NOT alow to boil. Then let cool before adding flower mixture. They are delicious.
Can't wait to try these! They look and sound delicious! I've tried several of your recipes, and have always really liked them. I think you have really good taste in recipes.
I never even heard of Honey cookies. They look so good I so want to make these. They are expensive were I live but I need some honey anyway so Will make them. Thanks for your videos.
Now they look and sound delicious John, I can’t wait to try them, my friend has a “bee farm” 🐝 and I get my clover honey from them and you are spot on….delicious honey, so fresh and delicious I find it far superior to store bought ( which will do in a pinch of course) Thank you for sharing with us. I know the videos are very time consuming so thank you again for taking the time to present a perfectly edited video for us to enjoy! Enjoy your upcoming weekend with George, Lauchlan and your wonderful hubby. 🐝Tina🐝
This came at such a perfect timing! I was planning to make a honey recipe this week but I wasn’t sure what. Will definitely be baking these this weekend!
My mouth literally watered when you took a bite and I could hear the crunchy nuts and soft texture of the cookie. I will definitely make these this weekend 🤤😋 Also, wanted you to know, I used your recipe for Stuffed Bell Peppers and they were amazing! I love your channel and website. Thank you for all you do to share! 🙂🌼
Watching this video was such a delight What a great story about your beehive, that sounds so incredible to experience honey and the cycles of nature that way! I’ve experimented a lot with honey years ago, I love to pair them with oats so the crispy roasted taste of the oats contrasts well with the salt and honey. Those Arab inspired versions sound simply incredibly and you’re not wrong about it! I’ve seen so many different honey cookies and they’re all delicious! Cheers
Very nice recipie John! They looks amazing! Thanks for these recpie! I love recipies with honey! I never think cookies with honey! The best honey is the Greek or from Cyprus! The Greek "Honeu Thyme" is the best! Have a nice day and good weekend! Have a good week! 👍👏🍯🍯🍯
I have a recipe playlist for treats I want to attempt...I swear it's actually just a Pretty Kitchen playlist at this point! These look delicious, I love honey! =] Your videos are awesome, John - thank you!
i separate the yolks from the whites and fold the whites into the floured yolk batter...and my butter is crisco as its makes them lighter . and i sprinkle sugar over them just before baking. Our italian tradition.
Today I finally made these Honey Cookies and they are just marvelously delicious! What a great cookie, so soft and just the right sweetness too. I will be making these again, and yes for the Holidays too. 💝
Looks so good. Unfortunately, I don't have any family tradition cookies. My Nana isn't fond of cooking and baking unless it's a holiday, and she's tired of doing that, too. My aunt is the one who loves to cook.
You can really tell that's not supermarket honey. It's a bit grainy looking, but I bet it tastes a lot better. FYI, if you use a varietal honey, like say orange blossom, it'll taste more like the plant it comes from, like oranges in my example.
No honey cookies but there was a honey bananas bread, lol. Wish we still had the recipe! It was something my Great grandma would make and unfortunately the recipe has vanished with a handful of others with the shuffling of generations. Miss it but I'm pants at banana bread so trying to recreate it from memory and scratch would be disaster, lol.

Almonds, or a sprinkle of turbinado sugar crystals on top is what I do. Your basic recipe is lovely!!
I make this exact recipe but I also add ground walnuts to the batter. One of my all time favorites!

I made these yesterday for Rosh Hashana holiday and the taste of them is amazing! I was really surprised, didn't think the honey will be strong.
I could not get mine to bake evenly round. what's your trick?
Just followed the video to the letter, the tips John gives help me more then just a written recipe

My grandma never made these but she did make Springerles a regional German cookie that has star anise in them and they're put on a mold.
I make Swedish Honey Bite cookies with coriander and cardamom seeds. Yum!
Yes to those add ins! Sooooooo good!!!!
I adore you and your enjoyment of the finished product. I recently bought your book and cannot wait to drive into the sweets that are in it.
A great recipe that produces a very tender and soft cookie -- being sure not to overbake was key for me
My grandmother's recipe for "honey crinkles" has been handed down in our family for four generations. They are amazing.
Thanks for the recipe been using it for a while now and my family loves it happy thanksgiving

Who else needs a Preppy Kitchen and Tasting History mashup?
I love all of the tips you add -- these look incredible!
You've got great Greek for the honey word. 👍 The cookies look tasty. ❤
If you’re having trouble opening a jar, give the corners of the lid 3-4 solid equidistant whacks with the back edge of a chefs knife, pops right open
Will have to make these for my next tea party 😊
I have a recipe playlist for treats I want to attempt...I swear it's actually just a Pretty Kitchen playlist at this point! These look delicious, I love honey! =] Your videos are awesome, John - thank you!

Ow that looks so yummy 😋. I love the way butter is packaged in the US and Canada, it seems more easy to use. Here in France it's a wide rectangle 😢
Like your channel, John!
