- Remember all those 3D platformers that Nintendo made for N64? It was a pretty cool game.

Everyone seems to forget that Rare wasn't a first party developer lol
at the time they were considered “second party” since Nintendo had a 49% minority sharehold from 1994-2002
Just want to tell you how much I appreciate this, the least click-baitiest thumbnail I've ever seen on UA-cam.
I still remember going to Toys 'R' Us and waiting in line to play for a few minutes. Their demo section also had NiGHTS into Dreams on Saturn and Crash something or another on some kind of game-station. I don't think that one ever really took off.
I think it was called Bandicoot Jones on the Summersquash GamePlinth. I’m like 90% sure.
So it's a machine that MAKES fun? It's a machine that IS fun, intrinsically, by itself? Is it a machine that outputs fun when input is a game? Nintendo can't make such blanket statements without clarification!
Finally somebody’s asking the important questions.
Clearly Buck Bumble- I mean Super Mario 64 is the most iconic 3D platformer on the 64. Can't wait to see the ranking video 👀
Mario 64 is certainly in my top 5 first-party 3D platformers on N64. Maybe even top 3.

@@Quate32 Hello fellow AiAi connoisseur
This is the most comprehensive list I’ve seen! Great job! 😛
I personally think Mario 64 was my favorite first-party Nintendo 3D platformer on the N64 system. When I played it as a kid I didn't know how to read. My Grandmom would always call it "Mario castle" so I always thought that was its name until I was older and knew better. Good Times.
I love this so much.
That's hilarious.
I think my favorite 3D Platformer Nintendo made for the N64 is Super Mario 64.
Great choice!
The biggest reason Mario 64 did so well is because it let the player control the camera. In 2D you only had side or top down views, so for 3D a lot of developers thought the best way to handle the camera was to lock it to the direction you face. Mario said "lol"
Independent camera control really did change everything. Every attempt at 3D platforming either forced a specific angle or used tank controls. And the way Mario 64 handled it has barely changed in over 25 years.
I never thought I'd see the day when Buck Bumble would be used for a fake-out.
Did TerminalMontage singlehandedly bring that game back to niche relevance lol
Buck Bumble never left relevance for us since we played it in 1998. It could be the best song released on a Nintendo 64 cartridge. I guess there was also a video game on there.
Ok good video at face value. But I was kinda expecting a look into why people assume the n64 was all 3D platformers
Hahaha come on!! Imma wait for part 2 now 😂
Yes, I legit want them to just make a video about all the 3d platformers!
good video!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Nintendo said “quality of quantity”

My favorite was Mario 64
Great choice!
Honestly, Super Mario 64 is my least favorite first party platformer on the console. It might actually be the worst.
Pretty bold take here. I respect it.
This felt a lot like when someone says "well technically, this lower budget $15 game is not an indie game", or "well technically, a bell pepper is a fruit". It's not the important part of the distinction for what people are talking about. You know there were plenty of other 3d collectathons on the N64, and that 1st party is often used to include second party titles as well.
I don't even agree with the idea that the N64 is nothing but collectathons, but this was a disingenuous retort.
