It’s time to find out which small electric SUV is better - the Kia EV6, or the Toyota bZ4X?!
Well in this review, Mat’s going to put these two EVs through their paces, testing everything from their exterior & interior design through to their real-world range and just what they’re like to drive!
When it comes to performance, the Kia is easily the more powerful car. The bZ4X’s single and dual motor editions can produce 204hp and 217hp respectively. In comparison, the single motor EV6 puts down 218hp, while the dual motor produces 325hp!
The Kia also has a slightly bigger battery pack, 73kWh compared to the Toyota’s 71kWh. As a result, the Kia also has a slightly larger claimed range - 325 miles compared to the Toyota's 317 miles. It's also worth noting the larger range comes with the single motor editions on both cars!
So, which would you choose? Would you go for the more powerful EV6? Would you choose the slightly cheaper bZ4X? There’s only one way to find out - stick with Mat for this all-new EV group test!

Honestly, there is no comparison between the EV6 and the Toyota. The former is leagues ahead in virtually every respect- performance, range, styling, handling, interior quality, infotainment system, tech features, charging speed, desirability etc.
Also there is a major reliability issue with the BZ4X as every unit that has been sold is being recalled due to the dangers of its wheels falling off. This is simply ludicrous incompetence from the Japanese.
Toyota and the other Japanese automakers seem to be totally out of their depth in the EV race while the Koreans are going from strength to strength.

Even the Acura and Lexus products aren't competing with Kia Stingers. They don't even need to call big brother Genesis for help. Only thing that Korea lacks right now is a supercar for the wow factor. It’s range from 100% allows you to set off on a 400 mile trip...say London Edinburgh knowing you have more range than you can drive in one sitting..sensible people would do 2 stops on a 7 to 8 hour drive like that...and in the Kia a couple of 15 minute stops at an Ionity charger will add another 120 miles...Why on earth would you need another car, especially a dirty ICE car!?

One option I wish they gave was to have one of them be persistent, so you can choose climate controls change the temp, whatever, then if you don't use them for lets say 60 seconds, it will default back to stereo controls without you having to switch it. @@mohammedafeef8184 we really talking about how Toyota are using a physically smaller battery? And this somehow dictates the design?. Do Toyota want to sell cars?. At this stage no one cares about battery size, its too early for it to make any reasonable difference. Look at it with its even sillier name. I would love Toyota to give me a reason to buy an EV from them. There isnt a single reason why I with 2 kids would by this car over anything else EV related. Again, what a shame.

@@SteYoung They’re completely different cars though. The Toyota has a lot more ground clearance and is a lot more of a crossover than the EV6. The EV6 is more of a hatchback than a crossover.

BZ4X is “Designed by Toyota” and made by BYD. Like Apple IPhone.
They can’t even sell it legally in USA due to current safety recall of Wheel falling off, after investigation they can’t find a remedy, and offering full buy back.

Not made by BYD. This is disinformation. The car is made by Toyota in a Japanese factory. BYD had nothing to do with the bZ4X. The BYD collaboration is for the China-only bZ3.

meh, I'd start from firing the guy who designed the car as its wheels are coming off and now Toyota lost a lot of money and its good name
