Another great job Joel. Really captured the day. And you were right. It was a tough, tough day. Hot, dry, rocky. You did an amazing job on the big bike, as did Brad and Jason. The best advice I could give is to start early and bring twice as much water than you think you need. The views were awesome though.
The BMW GS1250 Adventure was GREAT for getting to and from the BDRs. It was manageable on the trail, but tough to handle and you certainly don't want to go down, especially with the luggage included. The total weight, with luggage, was pushing 700 lbs.
In some ways the rocks are fun. In others, not so much. The GS1250 Adventure can certainly handle the rocks, but you also get bounced around enough that it's not pleasant.
It was certainly hot, but it was also extremely dry. One day the humidity was about 15%, so the heat didn't feel nearly as bad as it would have with higher humidity.
We didn't camp. We did stay at some VERY rough hotels. There aren't a lot of hotel options in many of these locations. Camping would have been fun, but with a group as large as ours, we just decided it didn't make sense.
about 27 minutes into it--THAT'S "Babyhead hill", probably the nastiest prolonged section on the entire WABDR! It's especially difficult on big bikes. My little TDub takes it in stride, but she a farm bike, made for this sort of thing. Hates high speed pavement though!
@@adventurerforlife-joel Probably would have made a difference. I also ride a Royal Enfield Himalayan, but I wouldn't want to give that nastiness ago with the Himi either Oregon just added it's BDR as well, so that's yet another bucket list item!.
@@alexmacdonald258 I ended up selling my BMW GS1250 Adventure. It was a fantastic bike for a lot of reasons, but just too big for the more difficult off-road sections. I want to do some of the more difficult BDRs and the BMW GS just wasn't going to work for me. I've got a SxS which I'm going to give a try on some of the BDRs, so I look forward to doing that and producing some content for those adventures.

Great video. We did that section this summer also. Rocks a plenty.

love it - keep it up. Cant wait for more
Thx Jim. I enjoyed doing them.
Amazing sceneries on the road 🙌
Agreed. As the videos continue, the scenery just keeps getting better.
But you did not weenie out! Whoo hoo! Now, remind me, why do people choose to do this????? LOL! Absolutely beautiful Joel!
Maybe we choose to do it because it LOOKS like fun. Trust me, I've made worse decisions.
Those high temps you were dealing with are rough 😢

I think climbing the big rock hill you all need to turn off that traction control. Thats why it keep stalling time after time
That's correct. Unfortunately, we learned that AFTER we climbed the hill!!! It made the rest of the ride easier though.
It’s also called “posting”.
Did you camp at all?

Thanks for confirming. I certainly would have liked to have another shot at it after I put my bike in Enduro Pro mode.

@@adventurerforlife-joel We'll look forward to more great videos with your SxS! Your WABDR series was arguably the best I've seen on the ride!
@@alexmacdonald258 I appreciate you watching and your comments.
