The choice of this song to promote Dark Souls was very appropriate. The narrative of the song echoes not only the themes of the games , but how you often feel during the course of playing it.
as a Southerner this song gives my goosebumps. It has rock, country, folk, and a good dose of southern baptist revival music thrown into one. Great song.
I loved the ending of the show with the subtexts. It was priceless when it said that by fighting so hard to separate their families, they were forever joined in american culture..to the point where one cannot speak one name without the other. Priceless.
First heard this song on a preview for Hatfields and McCoys on the History channel. I am now in love after hearing a bunch of their songs. Amazing group!
The song is one of those amazing songs where the band managed to convey the struggle for survival. It evokes severl emotions. Love it. It fits the show because the fued was all about emotionally charged exchanges between two families struggling for survival.
I watched the trailer a few weeks back but had no internet at the time and forgot the name of the show, so I couldn't look up the trailer. Just today, it showed up and I found it :)
I come from the Hatfield family ancestry, so I was REALLY excited when this movie came out. This song fits the movie perfectly. I'm so obsessed with this song right now.
I am not going to take a side. BOTH of these families had some SERIOUS issues!! Amazing how they fought! As an Army vet, it was impressive the risks they took to protect their family name!
@blanebraker Silent comedy refers to a style of acting, related to but distinct from mime, invented to bring comedy into the medium of film in the silent film era (1900s-1920s) before a (synchronized) sound track on film was technologically practicable. Silent comedy is still practiced, albeit much less frequently, but it has influenced comedy in modern media as well. From Wiki
unlike todays so called hit songs this one has thought provoking lyrics. one thought as we got through life we are running a tab for our deeds. one day alone we each must settle up.
ok this is essentialy a response to someone who asked/suggested that this might be biblical? well i didnt write the song but it seems to me that the whole song is about a sinner, possibly a fallen angel who has come to god repenting, begging forgiveness and re-entry to heaven. during the song he basically recounts some of his evils and manipulations he has perpetrated on mankind. again he is asking forgiveness but if he doesnt get it he is going to go on being a devil.......love it.
Lyin, Gasoline, Tight Rope, All Saints Day. Gasoline and Bartholomew are my favorites. You have to listen to the entire Gasoline song to really appreciate it. The best part of the song is the last 30, 45 seconds.
Hatfield's and McCoy's brought me here, however, The Silent Comedy made me fall in love with this song. I'm on my 15th time replaying it.

The guys mustache is amazing. I though you could only make mustaches like that in cartoons. He is the god of mustaches.
I would just like to say that, as a confirmed metalhead, this song has my seal of approval.

@Suthyrngrl Lol, there are a lot of similarities in beat and melody for both Flower by Moby and this song.
Love this song :D
Agreed man. Lemme know if you need similar bands. I have artists and bands for days.
GREECE !
Makes it even cooler in my opinon.
I was so fuckin amazed that the lyrics actually made some sense. So addicted to commercial songs.

It's ironic how a song about a guy becoming humble can sound so badass!
0:46 "And that's all my souls, there i'm back again. And It's all my souls there i'm back again." It's tormenting me...
what is the song called that playes when the hatfield boy gets hung in part three
@LeMagiqueMuffin yes.. yes we did...
It was used in a commercial for the series that's why people are commenting about it on here.

I had never heard of either of these things before I came here...
I saw the avengers yesterday and the Hatfields & McCoys advertisement came on before the movie:D
