- Pakistan legend Zaheer Abbas struck a wonderful, match-winning 108, which was littered with cover drives, against Australia in 1981.
The former Pakistan batter was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame: www.cricket.co...
Respect from India, not only great cricketer but one of nicest human being, very humble and soft spoken
Ankit Raghuwanshi thanks, love from Pakistan
He is indeed good human being and magician at the same time

Cricket Australia Really Appreciate's Talent without any Discrimination. Hats off
What kind of discrimination???
That only 😊😊 there mentality is very good 👍
Bhai why are you putting discrimination in everything? He was a true legend the whole world knows it.
Nomad banda thank you for this, but you know very well how other people discriminate just because of race and nationality
@@nomadbanda9562 cricket Australia uploads every country" s best individual performance videos by not only showing their own country best performance he meant to say that actually.
Averaged 47 in ODIs with a strike rate of 84....in the 1980s. Unbelievable record and doesn’t get his due as one of the best ODI batsmen of all time
Just got inducted in ICC hall of fame.
agree
He's ranked as the second greatest player of odi of all time by icc
Glad that someone noticed it. It was truely amazing to have that strike rate at that time. It's no fluke that he achieved 2nd best ever odi batting rating.
@@musharrafabdullah5458 who is number 1? Sir Vivian Richards?
Gavaskar wasn't lying about his elegant batting. True legends know each other well...
He said his Favourite batsman is Rohit
My father used to tell me how stylish was Zaheer Abbas's batting...he and David Gower.....thanks to youtube I can see it for myself...👍
I was going to write the same lines about my father , but found your comment and dropped the idea .
@@NeerajSingh009 hi5
Same feeling
Azharuddin too very staylist player
@@harunkatlerywala9776 true. It's unfortunate he succumbed to corruption fixing otherwise he would've gone even farther and break records
A guy so good, Michael Holding publicly admitted he's glad he didn't have to bowl to him.
But he doesn't have good record avg 16 against windies

@@jiteshkumar3774 87 against India..i guess balances out

One of the Legend not only from Pakistan but from subcontinent. So gentle & humble man with great record to his name. Lots of respect for true champion of the game. Love from India 🇮🇳
One of the most underrated and greats of the game...his record in those times were phenomenal... imagine if he were playing in the modern days....hats off 👍👏👏 from a diehard Indian fan
Agreed. Cricket was not that much commercialized in that era. Also there were not such rules; neutral umpires, 3rd umpires, reviews, no restriction on number of bouncers per over etc. No batting power plays
Bro he is not underrated.. He is ranked 2nd in all time cricket batsmen rankings
@@hassanwadaich175 i din mean that it was just that he played in thet era when cricket was not commercialized dont get me wrng bro I am a big fan of him
He was called Don Bradman of asia how can he be underrated with this title given.
he's called run-machine
So Lara was almost mirror image of Zaheer Abbas, the backlift is so prominent
Was exactly thinking the same , lara and hashim amla these two batsam I saw in this cricketer
Muhammad azharudeen style is also similar
Can add Gordon Greenidge to that list as well
After him Azharudin VVS Laxman and Mark Waugh were quite good on back foot and playing square cut
Shubhendra Singh Ponting!
This is 7th replay of this awesome video. Just can't stop seeing his batting. (It's first time I am watching Zaheer Abbas bhai) ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Right handed brian lara😂 same stance❤
Zaheer Abbas had a strike rate of over 80 along with Viv in his time (ODIs). He was one of the most flair and flashy batsmen. If he had played T20, he could have been one of the GOATs. Incredibly courageous batsman (Asian Bradman)
Bradman's strike rate is actually superior to Viv as well.
Kapil Dev had a strike rate of around 95.
Hey i have an interesting channel about space science and mysteries if ur curious about it do visit my channel once pls 🙏 .
Divyanshu Shankar yeah with an average of 20
@@spencerchurch3483 cause he was a finisher but credit where it is due , both Zaheer and Viv were special players but if you notice he gave away a lot of chances before he got his 100 . He is like a batsman who plays good but can't score a 100 unless he is there till the end . Someone like KL Rahul . Elegant technique and smart brains but too aggressive for the team and with high risk.
Look at his batting! A great mix of elegance with power. Watching him doing drives on cover gives me a joy
ICC should've inducted a legend like him to the HOF a way before than when they actually did and it's quite surprising with little shock that player of zaheer Abbas stature who is one of the pioneer in Pakistan cricket getting this honour only by now!
I am from India ,in 1980 s i had a chance to see few matches and radio commentaries,to Pakistan Zaheer Abbas,
One of the greatest pair of commentary of channel 9
Tony Greig and Ian Chappell regards Zaheer is asian Bradman.
One of the finest ,and elegant stroke player Pakistan ever produced.
What an incredible player. Congratulations to him for the ICC Induction!
Probably the most elegant off side player. Great innings. Also shows how someone with Thommo's pace can trouble even well set batsman !
Grew up reading about the legend that was Zaheer Abbas. Gavaskar had an entire video demonstrating how special his cover-drive was! Thanks for this clip, a feast for the eyes. Love from India.
What superb timing! That backfoot punch through the covers against Lillee @4:18 is just pure class. Gentleman Pakistani cricketer. Where is he nowadays? He should be involved with cricket administration in Pakistan.
Really, the way the players are playing now
He remained chairman of cricket board
Zareer Abbas just received a hall of fame inclusion from. ICC because his historical contributions in cricket , what a great batsman, what a handsome and humble guy Pakistan 🇵🇰 produced ❤
*When you have Lilly and Thompson bowling in a full size 85 meters boundary, then scoring even 10 runs is good enough.*
Arguably the greatest Odi Batsman after Richards During 80s and late 70s❤️
One of the finest ODI batsman of 80's.
ICC HALL OF FAME
The only Asian to hit 100+ first class centuries Rightly inducted into ICC Hall of fame LEGEND
Sachin has 100 international centuries what is your point?
@@chohansworld6048 that he hit 100 first class centuries.
@@cheesemccheese5780 both are legends of the game
@@chohansworld6048 I agree
One of my favorite players growing up. As Gavaskar used to say the sheer class is just unbelievable. Even though I’m an Indian, he was one of my favorites ever.
The 1980s cricket, movies and music is so damn immortal that even the 2K kids who meet me get addicted to it with it's sheer art and spirit. As a little boy, I was not aware that the future arts and sports would be this dumb and material driven. I don't see any real cricket in IPL or any modern endeavour. The players are not loyal. The people who have various franchisees are inspired from the US. True cricket is pure art and spirit. I miss the old era. I was a skipper for more than a decade. Every November and every March roars for it.
That high back lift and the speed of the hands. Pure Art !!!
So Hashim Amla comes from Zaheer Abbas School of Batting
No he has his own class.
Bilkul such kaha Hashim amla ka batting style yehi tha aur yehi class thi
Yeah it looks more similar. How cool it is..
Probably yes
Yes and Azharuddin also.
Brian Lara copied him i guess... They bat the same way
I don't think this is case Mr Manoj, I tried my hardest to imitate Brian Lara but failed. I conclude that best way of batting is natural one.
May be their is natural similarity.
Never saw anyone dominating the Aussie attack like the Asian Bradman aka Zaheer Abbas !
Man just celebrated his century just like its a very usual achievement for him. Class...
How about today's players? They'll do anything to impress girls.
Hes ranked 2nd in the all Time greatest batters below viv Richards. I've never really heard about him but all the old timers regard him as pakistans greatest batsman.
Greatest batsman all time. Respect from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰😋
Hey Hey King Zaheer❣️
Pakistan's Run Machine❣️
gavaskar once said to him
zaheer ab bas karo
Power, perfection, poise and grace.... This man Abbas has got it all.... What a player... watching him is a real treat to eyes.... love from India
Such an elegant player he was.. Beautiful to watch ❤️
Oh my father always told me about this legend and he uses to praise him a lot but now i see why... Batting at a average of 47 that time is absolutely masterclass...
Love from Kashmir ❤️❤️
A great century from a great batsman against the likes of thomson and lillee creaming them to covers so elegantly , congratulations on your induction to icc hall of fame. One of the very best batsmen ever
My most favourite stylish Pakiatani batsman ..what elegance
My father used to talk about Zaheer's talent. He was a legend, probably underrated 👍🏼
It is such a pleasure to see Zaheer batting. He was my favourite Pakistani batsman (with Asif Iqbal and Javed Miandad) and it was nice to see Rod Marsh congratulate him on his century and Greg Chappell bowling. I watched cricket in Australia from 1974 onwards. It was a great era and there were so many legendary players.
My God what a player..real flair..Why he is so underrated?
People from India are praising his batting skills means Z. Abbas is not underrated.
@@hamdaanali3220 Most of the Indians praise great players irrespective of their nationalities...But when we talk about batting greats of all time I have hardly seen the name of Zaheer Abbas ...May be records were not very attractive ( which I am not so sure about) but stroke play and flair is certainly of top class...

Mai Dhannye ho gaya !! ( is it a correct sentence ? )
Imran Khan said only 2 players had natural timing one is Sachin & the other is Zaheer Abbas … he is 100% correct
Zaheer had the phenomenal timing. Like Gundappa Viswanath he was also underrated by the cricket pundits and got nothing what he deserved...
Saw Zaheer play for Leicestershire and Pakistan in the late 70s and through the 80s. Such a beautiful batsman. Two of the biggest sixes I ever saw were hit by him. At Canterbury and Folkestone.
Have never seen Zaheer Abbas bat..but man he was all class.. look at those cover drives and square cuts. Reminds me of Rahul Dravid
Wow, just wow.....One of the best from this era. To me it looks like (pre release) he is coiling up his energy and as soon as the ball is released and he spots its line and length he releases his energy through the ball with a real flourish.
STYLE is the middle name of this magnificent player
Elegance and class all together against world fastest bowling side.
Right handed brian lara..look at the backlift😄
Brain lara was a left handed zaheer abbas if u agree r not

Shyam Patel Zahher abbas Sahab Had Debuted Years Ago Since lara so Why cant U say left Handed Zaheer abbas for lara
True indeed
One of the stylish batsmen I have ever seen in my life
Being an indian I must say zaheer abbas was the best batsman of his era
You don't need to be from any country while appreciating class!!!
Amazing stroke play…seeing Zaheer Abbas play for first time…just came here after kind words from sunny Gavaskar on induction of mr Abbas into ICC
A legend of the game. Love and respect from Afghanistan
After introduction of t20, the beauty of batting has lost and slogging took over. We see some great names in modern day cricket such as Virat, Babar, Head and a few English batters but the fast paced innings with pure elegance still associated with Asian Bradman - Legend Zaheer Abbas.
If I am not mistaken Zaheer scored 7 one day tons in a mere 47 matches.
Watching him disorienting worlds best bowlers here is very enjoyable.
Back then batsmen in 80s take time to set themselves in white ball cricket (50 over) and after that they start with 4s mainly with cover drive, cut shot, shots over the extra cover and backfoot punch. However openers don't try to get 6s as much as 4s back then.
Zaheer Abbas sir to whom Sunil Gavaskar sir praises as great stylish elegant batsman & human being!
ماشاءاللہ بہت خوب ❤۔۔ظہیر عباس زندہ آباد۔۔۔ پردیس سعودیہ ❤❤❤ دل خوش کر دیا۔۔
First time I'm watching zahir bat...
He looks like a right handed version of Brian charles Lara
It was a treat to watch great Zaheer ab bas
Not a chanceless but definitely an elegant innings. Good to see good batsmen from Pakistan.
Very few shots he played on side. That just shows how great timer of the delivery he was. 90% of the shots which I've seen were through covers or extra covers. Great batman 🙏🏼
Nice to see Vault Music back!!😍😍
The difference from today is; shots are grounded..
When the pace was right, ZED was Picasso!
Nice words....
That flay on the off side is so reminiscent of Brian Lara. Looks like Zaheer Abbas is the right handed form of Lara.
Very fluent, very classy and yes very successful. One of the few batting legends of Pakistan, I'd say the best batting legend of Pakistan, both in terms of style and consistency.
Look at their Fawad Alam nowadays .... the guy is all over the place while batting. Who took him into their international team !!
Playing elegantly and aggressively the cricket of 2020 almost 40 years ago. What a class.
Zaheer Abbas Was great Player of Pakistan 🇵🇰🇵🇰 History
If u give three chance to any Pakistani batsman,he will score hundred definetely. However Zaheer abbas is Pakistani legend.Congrats on joining icc hall of fame👏
people of my generation are really lucky, growing up 70s, 80s and 90s we experienced best of cricket.
Clean strokes!!
Looks like watching Brain Lara in mirror.
Zahir abbas scored 186 in 1979 vs australia in australia and that was in M.C.G. It is a world record in a ODI match against australia till now.
He's still on 2nd ranked on overall oneday rating
Zaheer Abbass scoring machine of Pakistan..
Loved it...looks really nice...Great job🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wah,kya players the us time! Sabhi taali bajakar Zaheer Sahab ki century ki Mubarak Baad di❤
He was only player from asia have a 107 first class hundreds .and player in the world have 4 time hundred and dubal hundreds in a first class cricket .
108
108
& remained not out in all those 8 innings.
The first Pakistani batsman to achieve number one ICC ranking year 82/84 , with strike rate almost 83 and average 47 he was ahead of his time , no wonder they called him Asian Bradman
One of the best batters of his generation
One of the best batsman Pakistan had ever produced
The square cut and cover drive never looked so easy when he hits them
He reminds me of, a rt handed version of lara in batting style
Most stylish player. Zed we miss you
Man , is this footage truly paying respect to him or showing the no of chances oz missed to make him reach his Hundred !
True !
Seems like Aussies fielding in this video paid tribute to the current Pakistani fielding haha
Pure Class Batting by Zaheer. Pakistan those days had the best batting lineup. Mudassar, Javed, Zaheer , Wasim Raja, and Bari.
What a graceful player.. facing Thompson and Lillee like that ease and elegance take some skills and guts too
Right handed Brian Lara 🙌🏻 love from 🇨🇷 Costa Rica
It's funny to see Australian greats dropping catches like that😂 But damn!! Thommo!! 😍
Only unbiased cricket channel on UA-cam. Hats off to cricket Australia for promoting cricket .
He was much better than Gavaskar at times on timing and technique. Asia's Bradman he was known then with 7 double centuries.
He was faster than Gavaskar in one days. His strike rate is close 100 in odis of his career which is quite fast considering it's from 1980s.
No doubt a natural batsman. Timing was key with his batting.....
Nice to see a legend like Greg chappel in a action
Yeah. A legend like Greg Chappel
What dazzling footwork and beautiful stroke-play. Azhar played a bit like him.
Hashim Amla kind of reminds of Zaheer Abbas batting style
Top class . Great player . Love from indian fan Abbas bhai 🙏🙏🙏
I was not even born when this match happened 😂 ...the great Zaheer Abbas
Playing t20 in 80's way ahead of his era
80's and 70's footage from Australia looks so good. No idea why the PCB can't improve footage and upload some old great innings.
Up till 70s pakistani and indian recorded match videos were in black and white while outside like England and Australia they already started in color
Marvelous Batting and Amazing Personality Zahir Abbas...
He is the 1 who creatd cover drives
Never ever seems that v r watching very very old one day match..... Great Zaheer innings seems to be 2021 latest.....
