+KatariaGujjar May be you haven't seen Saeed Anwar playing, M yousuf was a very good player but you can't even compare him to Saeed. As long as Saeed was at the crease, pakistan would have hope to win the match coz he kept the game under controle, he had the skills to keep things going in any kind of situation and conditions. he had a great variety of shots. with just a little flick he could steer the ball into the stands. his follow through was superb, always a natural timer of the ball.

anwar was epic, but just like many of the pakistani greats, they always get wasted, not nurtured properly, highly impacted by culture and government/board corruption. Pakistan, if anyone has eyes, is probably the most talented cricketing nation I've come across - and I say this very honestly. They have produced some of the best batsman from late 70s till 90s in the world ever. To start with Zaheer Abbas (asian bradman), majid khan, mushtaq ahmed then we had like javed miandad. Upcoming anwar/inzamam/yusuf. Afridi was incredibly talented as a young player with century against srilanka at only 16 years old! And that was the fastest ever century in the world for a very long time. But he too was completely wasted and his talents completely shot down instead of being nurtured. This is true for so many potential players in pak who could've been so great and already were the greatest in the making but wasted. Any other nation had possessed these legends, they would've been wayyyy better used. Not to mention there is so much incredible talent in pak that we never even get to see because they never make it through to the team due to corruption. Once great players make it to the team, they aren't taken care of and they usually end up with short lived careers whereas other nations take immense care of their players. Then every now and then some players in the pak team get sold and they also happen to the most epic talent cricket has seen since forever (salman, amir, asif) and similar cases with many players who would get bans from cricket. It's just so sad to see the potentially best cricketing nation to have and be going through this. And frankly, it's ultimately the government and corruption at the very top to blame for all this. Really sad.
After his young daughter died due to a prolonged illness, he was never the same man. I can't imagine how one can handle such a tragedy and still mentally cope with challenges of a competitive career. That incident surely changed him as a man and as a player.
