The best strategy for any type of split or steal game is to straight up tell the opponent that you are going to choose steal,
then promise to split the prize with them privately after the gameshow. They will be forced into choosing split otherwise nobody gets anything,
then just choose split yourself, It works surprisingly well.
Split!! 100% always believe in others and got plenty of faith in others too.

In the original game Golden Balls, there was a lovely older man who was so honest and wanted to split, this chick stole and you could see his heart break when they turned the balls round.. it was a really painful watch. She had no remorse

Then you steal.
If they split... you split the winnings with them on your own, like you said. If they steal nobody gets anything... because they are greedy.

Here’s how they should have done it at 20:23
Guy with 2 reds says he got the 2 reds and eliminates himself from the game on the terms that the remaining 2 players agree to split the final total and cut him into the total. Splitting the larger total 3 ways gives everyone more at the end of the game.
By removing himself, he indebts the others and they are more likely to feel obligated to split it in 3 ways
