I appreciate the fact that you find these artifacts, look them over, and then place them back where you found them. That says a lot about you. Find it, enjoy it, and leave it for others to enjoy.
Great adventure! The shot of the sunset with the crescent moon between the trees was awesome! The kitchen utensil bag is a cool piece of kit. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
I don't know about you Casey but, I think it was a spectacular video. You never cease to amaze and entertain us. Great cooking and the great outdoors. Can't beat that just like going fishing or hunting. It's better than a day at the office. Look forward to your next. Take care and stay safe. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Mark. Always good to hear from you. Really appreciate the compliments on the video. For sure. The worst day out there is still better than the best day at the office!
Again nice video informative and interesting. I was taught by my father back in the early 50's to boil water in our cast iron cookware to one remove any stuck food and then to clean it, let it heatdry and your done.
Thank you. Yes that’s how I was taught to clean it as well by my father. The other thing I’ve always been taught is to never use soap on it. And if you do it the way we were taught you never need to. Cheers!
Nice job cooking out there! It's late Sunday night and I wanted to watch your video. Now I'm hungry again! My idea of top-notch cooking in the wild is to grab a bag of McDonald's hamburgers on the way out to the trail. I have them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They will last at least two weeks, and also plug you right up so you don't have to worry about your bathroom breaks out there! lol
Great camping video, and glad you took the time to setup early and enjoy some kickback relaxing in the pines. We've started prepping meals at home to make camp cooking easier with less clean up, too. Here's one of our favorite breakfast recipes... overnight oatmeal. Google it, then adjust what you'd like in yours. I use a 16 oz Ziploc plastic bowl container with a screw on lid, add my oatmeal and ingredients (I like oatmeal/plain yogurt/milk (to adjust overall mixture thickness)/banana/peanut butter/then mix all together and seal), chuck it in the ice chest overnight, and breakfast is ready in the morning as soon as I grab a spoon. It's like having a cold dessert for breakfast. Good for busy work weeks, too. Beautiful forest and scenery you have there. Glad your secret spot is being taken care of. I have one here in the Coconino National Forest in northern AZ that I check on a couple times every summer. Looking forward to the next outing and video. Travel safe and be well, my friend. Pete - KI7LIL
@@CoyoteWorks01 My wife likes strawberry yogurt and fresh sliced strawberries. I also like plain yogurt/blueberries/walnuts. Nestles chocolate chips are good to add, too. Either way, we often add a big spoonful of creamy peanut butter for the protein boost. You'll get it dialed in and find your favorite mix and what you like. If you need to leave fast in the morning (exploring or for work) we really like this no-cook powerhouse meal to go.
I know it must be the wind but it sounds like traffic driving by and I just envisioned you just being right beside the interstate at a rest area instead of being in the back country... Hahaha... Good video !!
I remember being in that area last year. 105F in the day, 35F in the morning. One of the things I love when it comes to camp food is my immersion circulater for sous vide cooking. I prep a lot of proteins ahead of time with sous vide methods, ice bath, and then freeze. This gives me ready-to-eat, pasteurized meats that I can just toss in the cooler when I leave. Just warm and serve. It takes away a lot of what would call "guess work" and, for me, greatly improves food safety. Hope to run into you out there some day.
Like the utensil kit great area gorgeous history of native Americans and settlers is absolutely fascinating my uncle used to make arrowheads an frame them years ago good food gorgeous area what more does a man need as always be safe stay humble
Another great video. I use a 10 inch for all my cooking though. Saves weight and will work for solo meals or meals for many. I also have a cast aluminum skillet that packs nicely in my Coleman stove. It usually gets used for breakfasts. A tip if interested. I use spray cooking oils for camping. Don't have to worry about leaking out over everything. Small, easy to use and durable. See you on the trails, George.
That’s a good tip on the spray oil. I have used it occasionally and I might just switch completely over to it. I like the idea of it being pretty much spill proof. The only issue I had with it is when it got a iittle too cold it won’t spray.
@@CoyoteWorks01 Never had a problem with it spraying when cold but you do camp when it is colder than I do. Just make sure you have full cans on the cold trips. George.
the view from your chair was fantastic out into the countryside, the sunset wasn't too bad either. when i was watching you handle that arrowhead, i got the shivers when i was thinking about the Native American also handling, and making it many moons ago....HOW FRIKKEN COOL! it makes my heart beat faster. your culinary skills are greatly improving, the crepes, and fruit are quite a few steps above, and beyond the old mound house aren't they? i jealous of you getting to enjoy all that beautiful country, however it will only be 3 to 4 weeks and i will be out in the Nevada desert doing the same as you, can't wait! Happy Trails.
Ha! Thanks my friend, Yeah I always get that feeling every time I find something like that. It’s funny I have no desire to keep them. But that thrill and the thoughts that come when I do find one are always there. Cheers!
Hi Casey, I’ve been following you for sometime. Love the videos and the historical points of view. I started watching cause you had a Jeep, but continue now for the experiences. Hate your other Jeep is toast, but looks like you’ve recovered well. Thanks for putting the artifacts back for someone else to find. And, of course, love the meals. From mountain house to gourmet carne asada. Only thing I don’t like about the videos...they end too soon.
Thanks my friend. Really appreciate hearing that. I know what you mean about ending too soon. That’s how I feel about the trips! They always end too soon!
Thank you Thank you Cassey! No one posted any good YT Video and I came upon yours,Well I made dinner and just was so delighted with another great adventure..Very cool,Safe travels
Awesome video once again. Makes me wanna get out more and explore what my state has to offer. I'm pretty sure Wyoming has some amazing places. Plenty of history i'm sure. Can't wait tell the next video. Safe travels.
Oh man I think Wyoming has some amazing places to explore. I’ve only been through the state once or twice but what I saw of it looked like it had endless miles of open land to explore. Cheers!

I really enjoy "cooking and camp life" videos... the overland parts are cool, and the views are worthy of a John Wayne movie, the food portions always get my attention
Thanks my friend. I agree. I really enjoy watching other peoples videos and I also really enjoy the cooking and camplife. No better place in the world to relax and enjoy a good meal than around camp. Cheers!

Hey there Casey. I enjoyed this as well as all of your videos. Thank for showing your new camping items. You always give great ideas for others to enjoy. Regards from Ody Slim
Wow, you sure drink a lot of weird stuff.I have never went on a camping trip without a 10-12 inch D.O. you can do anything with one that you can do with a skillet plus have a cook pot that you can cook anything in, plus use it as a real oven. On the other hand I really enjoy watching you explore the great country you are in. Thanks for the great video's.
Great Video once again!! Inspired to do more cooking. I have a cast iron dutch oven -- going to put that in the back of the jeep for my next adventure. :) Casey I looked on the Lolo Overland site and was not able to find the utensils, chairs, or boxes you mentioned. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. I see the FSR tents, MaxTrax, etc.
Thanks my friend. Yeah the guys over at Lolo Overland are just getting their website set up. You can always shoot them a call or an email as well. They are really good guys and great to work with. Cheers!
Amazing breakfast for "us"? Can you define "us", as I'm sitting here trying to focus on working and yet I'm completely distracted by this amazing food. Dang, I've got to get out for an overnight campout and try both of these meals. Amazing!!! Thanks again for sharing. Safe travels.
Oh man I really enjoy some of those meals out there. I can never completely figure out if the meals are really that good, or if I’m just really hungry by the time I eat them! But whatever the case, man I enjoy a good camp meal!
It is gorgeous country up there. You know I’ve found so many of them over the years that I’m not even really interested in bringing them home with me but I do get a huge thrill still out of finding them. Cheers!
Hi Casey , well another great adventure from you with a history lesson. I love it. Your dinner and breakfast cooking looked really good. Made me hungry .Lol .. until next time take care.
You might take your drone with the camera straight down over an area like this and you may be able to spot the old Tepee rings, we have done it in the past from a helicopter with movie cameras
Awesome video like always Casey, love your videos!!!! You spend more time at camp this time, loved it, the cooking and all 👍👍👍 Greetings from South Africa 🔥
Hi CW! A few thoughts on this trip: My favorite episode so far! As I come from a restaurant background, I really like your cooking approach, very similar to mine! My take is that great cooking only adds to the experience. Set up time for camp and kitchen is a ritual I thoroughly enjoy. The prep you did at home is crucial to perfect dining on the trail as well. My camp group also comes from a restaurant background...we prepare all meals from scratch! Heck, I even grind my own coffee beans. As for the comments on ads, it doesn't bother me. Gives me a chance to refill my coffee cup! Just did a trip to Medicine Bow-Routt NF in July. Lodgepole pine forest at 8500' west of Saratoga, WY. Try it, you'll like it! Cooking adds more gear, only a problem when I decide to bring my telescopes!!! Be safe, can't wait for more epic videos! I really need to hit some of those central Oregon areas! Oh...only a few weeks or less until my SS blade CW knife is delivered! Clear Skies, JP
Thanks JP. Really appreciate the comments. I’ve really enjoyed and gotten more into cooking out there this past year or two. And like you said, I’’ve always really enjoyed the ritual of setting up camp. I really enjoy a combination of setting up with gear and using things from the environment out there to add to my camp set up. Hope you get some time in Central Oregon soon my friend. Cheers!
14:30 quite the gourmet I must say. I love those little corn tortillas, you can easily knock back 10 without flinching. Fire bans in effect out there I take it?
Thank you. Yes those wolf packs (South African ammo crates) are a great piece of kit. In general Frontrunner just makes and or distributes some solid camping and overlanding gear. Cheers!
Nice adventure. One suggestion is to switch to American Made Lodge Cast Iron. Reasonably priced and made in South Pittsburg, TN. We've been camp cooking on it and now fire pit cooking for 30+ years with it. Safe Travels and God Bless!
My gggreat grandparents are Henry Birdsong and John Demaris. They homesteaded near Mill creek, steins pillar and mckay creek I believe. I would love to visit these places eventually.
I was born and raised in Oregon. I think the Ochocos are one of the most beautiful parts of our State. Did you go up out of Prineville, or in from Northwest of Pendleton?
nice man! Maybe we can get together soon, missed 'spring' haha. I'm leaving Sarah at home this next weekend, going to get my archery doe around Silver City.
I would be glad to meet you. Tell Nick to text me sometime when you are down at Prepper and I’ll run by and meet you. Glad you are enjoying the videos!
Aw, so glad you got to relax and have some leisure camp time because it can be good for the mind and body plus all that good cooking as well. 🤗 Those were some great yummy quick meals and appreciate you sharing your adventures and OR so much. 😉 That is a beautiful area. I need to leave OR soon before winter and head Southwest so I will only be seeing OR through your eyes until maybe next summer but will be so thankful for your videos. 💖🤗 Happy and safe travels my friend. 👍😉💓😃🚐
Hi Casey. I think you lacked the guacamole for the tacos. Instead of adding the cheese and the sauce, you would have put the cilantro and onion and then the guacamole or a spicy sauce. Or better yet, you would have made some quesadillas with the carne asada and they look delicious. I liked your idea of food. When I go camping, here in Mexico we make carne asada directly to the fire. And prepare the sauce the same, on the fire.
hey casey, have you ever been through high rock canyon in north western Nevada? its north of the blackrock desert. what a great trip that would be for you and its not to far. I would love to see you do a video there.
Been a fan for a while. I have been wandering the deserts of Utah and Nevada since 1989 looking for evidence of structures and mining activity. You have peaked my interest in the Oregon desert and I fully intend to go there next spring to celebrate my 75th birthday. I really like the fold down chair you have and I went on Lolo Overland but it's not listed there. Can you provide information on how to purchase one?
Thank you my friend. Always nice to hear from a fellow explorer. I bet you find some pretty interesting stuff down there. I would just give Lolo Overland a call. They are great guys and I’m sure they would be happy to send you one. I believe they are just getting their website up and functioning so they probably don’t have everything on it yet.
I appreciate the fact that you find these artifacts, look them over, and then place them back where you found them. That says a lot about you. Find it, enjoy it, and leave it for others to enjoy.
I really like your videos and you do this by yourself and keep it real thank you.

nice!! love the vids!! Always curious what ya eat on the trail. very important info really!! Cooking With Casey!!!
Thanks my friend! Glad you enjoyed!
14:30 quite the gourmet I must say. I love those little corn tortillas, you can easily knock back 10 without flinching. Fire bans in effect out there I take it?
New breakfast recipe (the crepes)! Thanks, Steve
For sure. It was a keeper. I’m definitely adding that breakfast into the rotation.
Awesome video mate, looks like a absolutely amazing trail
Thanks my friend. It was an enjoyable trip for sure!
Nice to see the south african products getting out into the world, thanks so much for your vids!
Thank you. Yes those wolf packs (South African ammo crates) are a great piece of kit. In general Frontrunner just makes and or distributes some solid camping and overlanding gear. Cheers!
Thanks again for sharing your video of the beautiful capping trip,: really nice I enjoy it👍
Thanks my friend. Always a pleasure to have you all along with me out there!
Nice adventure. One suggestion is to switch to American Made Lodge Cast Iron. Reasonably priced and made in South Pittsburg, TN. We've been camp cooking on it and now fire pit cooking for 30+ years with it. Safe Travels and God Bless!
Thank you for the tip. I have looked at that Lodge brand cast iron and it looks really nice.
My gggreat grandparents are Henry Birdsong and John Demaris. They homesteaded near Mill creek, steins pillar and mckay creek I believe. I would love to visit these places eventually.
Thank you for the awesome video! I'm always learning new things watching you! Have a great day!
Great camping video Casey, thank you 👍
Thank you. Glad you are enjoying them!
Another great video keep up sir
Thank you!
Yeah man crazy how time gets away from us. Bummed we missed spring but would still like to get a trip in.
@@CoyoteWorks01 Yeah the biz got crazy busy and... yes.. all of that.
I love your post!
Overwhelmingly enjoyed this video❣️👍🤗
Thank you!
Thank you!
Great video
Thank you!
Big big fan I was with Nick when you pass by today I wish I would have got to meet you I was at prepper up
I would be glad to meet you.
And prepare the sauce the same, on the fire.
great video, hey bud where did you find the frozen crepe's
I found them at a discount grocery store. It’s called the Grocery Outlet. But I found the brand online by doing a google search for “Frozen Crepes”.
I have a stove zactly the same as your new blue one but a different color. I bought it at a gun show in 1999 and it still works great.
Yeah it seems like a great little stove. It’s so simple it doesn’t seem like there is much that could go wrong with it. Cheers!
hey casey, have you ever been through high rock canyon in north western Nevada? its north of the blackrock desert. what a great trip that would be for you and its not to far. I would love to see you do a video there.
Man I will add that to my list. I’ve heard of it before and it sounds really interesting. I’ll do some research and plan a trip down there!
Love the AMAZING Content!!
Thank you!
