I met Alvarez (Kirk Acevedo) at a Comic Con a couple of years ago. I told him I would get weird looks from people when I (as a Black man) would tell them that my favorite character on television was a murderous Neo-Nazi. Then he looked at me the same way and said "That IS weird, bro." 😂
J. K. Simmons is an outstanding actor. When he talks about Oz here, he looks so less scary than in the show. This man has such a huge potential in drama and comedy. His role in "the ladykillers" was hilarious!
Agreed, Stone Cold. There is a scene in Oz in which he is talking to Sister Peter Marie because he's worried about his kids who are being raised by his father. She says something about how he should be comforted by the fact that it's his father instead of strangers and he looks at her with dead eyes and says, "And he did such a good job with me." At that moment, he transcended simply evil bastard and took on the mantle of concerned parent and it was completely credible.
yep, his character was so hated, but jk simmons demonstrated he can make you react no matter what, for an actor, they making you react, it's their biggest goals in their career, that show up how versatile are
Vern Schillinger was one of the best villains on tv too this day ( it sucks cuz every time i see him no matter what part he's playing that's who i think of
I absolutely loved COUNTERPART!! I was so disappointed when they canceled it. I always wished somebody would have, at the very least, made a movie that wrapped up loose ends. Honestly, I wish they would do that with these serials like this, that have a decent enough following that merit a reasonable finale, and COUNTERPART was one such show, among many.
Yeah I hate that so many series these days don't get to wrap things up. Oz is partly to blame because it helped kickstart this two decade long boom period for tv dramas that is now going in a downward trend. Hopefully things can settle down and we'll start seeing more complete stories again.
HBO OZ is the best TV Show ever done ! it is not even from my generation i was a baby boy when it started but since i found it is my favorite show of all time so deep and savage !
I'm a black man but Vern Schillinger was one of my favorite characters on OZ. 1. Simon Adebsi 2. Kareem Said 3. Vern Schillinger 4. Chris Keller 5. Bur Redding.
So glad to say I had exactly that moment JK Simmons talks about because I picked this up knowing nothing... It was an amazing reaction being a viewer and had me hooked even more. Sometimes the marketing or explanation needed to hook an audience spoils the true story-telling that could happen
What a great actor and it seems like he's a really great guy in person. Look at the different roles he's played in his career and it shows just how versatile he really is. I would LOVE to meet him in person and maybe have a beer with him. That would be pretty cool.
The first time I saw J.K. was in an episode of New York Undercover back in '96. He was heavy set and he had hair on his head. He lost a lot of weight over the years
2:40 Not the only tough guy in the show. One of the background guards whose name is Tim Brown was a decorated fireman who saved people in 9 11 terrorist attack.
Because he wanted to make more money. The actor who played Adebisi had an opportunity to work on the Mummy Returns. I've read that the actors on Oz weren't paid well.
jK Simmons I accuse you sir of holding a job when your illegally allowed to . In 1997 You played a white supremest now you work as an all state salesman. Insurance companies require you to be bonded. It would be impossible for you you to portray an insurance agent because of your felonies and your prison record
He will always be vern Schillinger to me lol.
Chief Pope from "The Closer" too.
man he was so amazing in that show. his character was hilarious in a weird sick way.

SCHILLINGER!!! GOT DAMMIT!!! SCHILLINGER!!!!
Same !
J. K. Simmons is an outstanding actor. When he talks about Oz here, he looks so less scary than in the show. This man has such a huge potential in drama and comedy. His role in "the ladykillers" was hilarious!
He brought his BITCH... to the MEET!!! Lol liked him in that
@@MrClean3381 LMAOOOOO 😂😂😂 that shit was hilarious. Have to love wayan brothers
That is like how the actor who plays Said looks way more friendly and happy than Said does when he speaks as himself.
Verne Schillinger is one of my favorite tv villains, he was such an evil bastard
Agreed, Stone Cold.

& Adebisi
He is no villain
I love Jk his acting was so good he made it so easy to hate Schillinger
Yet he could also make you feel bad for him. Amazing range.
To hate? To fear!
Never hated him
To me personally I think Oz boosted JK Simmons career.
yep, his character was so hated, but jk simmons demonstrated he can make you react no matter what, for an actor, they making you react, it's their biggest goals in their career, that show up how versatile are
His breakout role
I love J.K. and will watch him in anything, but nothing beats him on OZ
Well spoken gentleman so nothing like his characters like Terrence Fletcher, Vern Schillinger and J.J Jameson, such a great actor
All my favorite JK roles 💯
Don't forget Cave Johnson and the damn lemons :P
The musical moment of Beecher and schilinger is great
J.K. will forever be underrated
J Jonah Jameson to Peter Parker:
- that was nice Prag!
Or this:
Was the Green Goblin's dick bigger than mine? *dips hand in axle grease*
You be the judge.
Loved the remark about Chuck Zito. Especially since Chuck Zito is a retired in good standing member of the Hells Angels
Always loved him as Vern
Vern Schillinger was one of the best villains on tv too this day ( it sucks cuz every time i see him no matter what part he's playing that's who i think of
JK Simmons always seemed dope man, like a really chill grandpa lol.
Or "Conspiracy Santa!" in The Tomorrow War :)
Just from that 10 seconds I really need to watch Counterpoint now. I already know J.K. Simmons is a phenomenal actor. Oz taught me that.
Counterpart had alot of really cool stuff, wish we could have had more of it.
One of the best actors I've ever seen!
I absolutely loved COUNTERPART!! I was so disappointed when they canceled it. I always wished somebody would have, at the very least, made a movie that wrapped up loose ends. He was my Top 3 characters of Oz
I like how he laughs before he even says I was on OZ
HBO OZ is the best TV Show ever done ! it is not even from my generation i was a baby boy when it started but since i found it is my favorite show of all time so deep and savage !
Such an underated actor. Every main character in OZ to me was brilliant!!
OZ the best TV show in Fucking tv HISTORY !!!!
The pioner of everything ! hands down
Simmons is my favorite actor ever. He’s incredible
I agree, Schillinger was his best character.
He lost a lot of weight over the years
and he is super ripped
I am watching Oz and he's amazing 🖤 great show ✴️
He’s a great actor
Lmao Jason looked like he honestly didn't believe that he guessed the singing right
vern schillinger will always be invited to my cookouts.
Legendary Actor in everything
That episode he speaks of with the musical is s.05
Counterpart is fantastic and underrated show, and Simmons is absolutely brilliant. Can't wait for season 2.
RIP
Vern Schillinger!!!!🤣Eat the page!!!!!
What's so magical about him that he started talking then I was taken? I was like "just keep going, I'm hooked."
He's also the yellow M&M
What a great series.
Chuck Zito was a Hell’s Angles!!!!!!
Some of my fav. actors. Class acts all around. Good peeps.
1:57 you're welcome.The Oz part.
Thank you
For me he was still Vern Schillinger in Whiplash
I think that was J K Simmons Prime being interviewed.
Need the full version hmm
Amazing actor
I watched oz later in years, so I never knew Augustus hill was killed so he could do the matrix. I like how they turned the whole show into his book.
J.K. Simmons will ALWAYS be Vern Schillinger❤
At 1:58 it’s like he watched him being photographed. MUltILayErEd META Montage
Vern Schillinger is one of the best villains to ever appear on screen.
what show in cleveland is he talking about?
2:40 Not the only tough guy in the show. One of the background guards whose name is Tim Brown was a decorated fireman who saved people in 9 11 terrorist attack.
Frank Shamrock and Matt Lindland, two very decorated mma fighters, also made cameos in season 6.
y'know J.K Simmons, if life give you lemons . . .
Come here PRAG 😂😂🤣😂😂
Wait I just finished season 4 where does he sing?
Say it louder j.k..
“SHILLIGER” - Vern Shillinger
Chuck Zito the only actual tough guy
still look badass :) hahah, damn Vern
Hey Skillingah.
He wanted to make Jason Bateman his new prag
"yo, you challenger?"
C'mon Skillenger 🤣
Shallinger

He's very handsome.. those eyes
Skillinger?
Schillin-ger?
2:32 This scene was so Fucking pain to watch !!! Keller & Beecher big Breakdown
Petey only person to ever get the right tempo.
I read the comments hoping someone knew this horrible project in Cleveland. No such luck. 😟
Oz was never the same after adebesi died. why did they kill that guy
Captain Rhodes 😂 I remember watching and thining that, this beast of man wouldn't die if God Zeus bolted lightning at him!
Because he wanted to make more money. The actor who played Adebisi had an opportunity to work on the Mummy Returns. I've read that the actors on Oz weren't paid well.
Eamonn Walker had a rather unceremonious exit as well (for filming Tears of the Sun)
jK Simmons I accuse you sir of holding a job when your illegally allowed to . In 1997 You played a white supremest now you work as an all state salesman. Insurance companies require you to be bonded. It would be impossible for you you to portray an insurance agent because of your felonies and your prison record
Yo you Challanger?
He was J. Jonah Jameson.
Jason Bateman would've been an interesting Tobias Beecher, come to think of it
"I've made a huge mistake."
play 00:38 with 0.25 speed and thank me later
Okay Claire Foy
Like my tattoos?
1:31 looks like a PRAG
When ever i see Jk i am still afraid
Vern Shillinger nothing else
