I'd say Carl did the right thing.. Jody was a threat and had attacked the prison. and the points you made about him looking around and him not dropping the gun were some what true. if Carl was to take the gun while it was in Jody's hands... hell, Jody could have pulled the trigger and killed Carl right then and there

Carl shouldn't have killed Jody. First of all he was defenceless. Even though he didn't drop the gun he offered it to carl. And I think the reason he was looking around is because carl was with other people so he was wary of them. If he had looked in a full 360, I would've been sold.
Well He didn't listen to the commands. Hershel told him to drop the gun, but insteand Jody decided to "Hand it Over" and kept coming closer. Plus, Carl was scared. So that's a Nope in my book
Usually telling someone to come and take your guns is a threat. He definitely wasn't defenseless, it would take less than half a second to shoot Carl once he started reaching for the shotgun
Rick used the same trick as the boy did in this scene when he killed shane. I hate all the hate towards Carl, he became such a badass in season 3

He should have dropped his gun. The boy was take it take it, and he had his arm pulling back like he was going to pull something. Even thou carl could have shot his leg or something.

You have always a choice! Jody didn't have to work with the Governor... What Carl did, was absolutely right. He just prevent the group from a possible danger. Rick does it on the same way, does all to prevent the group.

I made this EXACT EXACT argument just a while ago about this EXACT situation. Carl had every right to protect himself, his infant sister, a young girl, and an old man unwilling to kill a young boy, from someone slowly inching forward, sizing up those who just ordered him to DROP the weapon. No way, Jose.
Jody was a member of a force that attacked the prison and would have killed everyone inside, Carl included. Sorry, Jody lovers, he did the crime so he did the time.

I never thought of it like that, I like carl don't get me wrong but I thought when carl killed Jody it was cause he was in over his head but yeah he really was a threat but I wouldn't have shot him cause of it I'd return him to the group.
Before I watched this video I thought what Carl did was wrong because I thought that if Jody would pick up his gun and shoot Carl would have time to react. However, this video madde me think and I'm not sure I what my opinion is now.
I still think what Carl did was wrong, I mean killing is bad no matter what and we don't, nor will we ever know if Jody truly was going to surrender or if he would have come back and killed one of Rick's group if he lived, I mean how does someone predict something like that? After this my opinion of Carl has lowered dramatically.
he shouldnt have killed him..he was surrendering and had his hands up and gun out to the side and was slowly putting it down..lets say for the sake of convo he might have tried to to do something, there were 2 other guns pointed right at him...he was just a kid that was giving up

Maybe because there aren't any reasons to. Carl pulled the trigger because the situation dictated it. He wanted to put the kid down to end the threat and he did. You don't shoot to maim, you shoot to kill and one shot to the head meant Jody wouldn't be "walking". Ammo was precious.

It's easily understandable why Carl killed him. This was not some random guy in the woods, he was part of an attack force driven out out of the prison and Carl knew it. Actually, I put this on Hershel who gave Jody a single warning. Instead of repeating the order to drop the weapon, he freezes behind the rock and watches Jody inch forward. He appeared to be sizing up a boy and an old man as he lowered the barrel to where he could possibly swing it on Carl. Hershel allowed Jody to threaten Carl.
In real life he shouldn't, in an apocalyse of course was the best decission ever!
