..that was not a first down for jets at 13;54 left in over time....it's not a catch until both feet touch...not where he jumped from...possession of ball and 2 feet down constitutes a catch in nfl....1 foot in college.
The sad thing is that the Jets had this game won if Doug Brien just would have hit the damn field goal. As an NFL kicker 43 yards even in grass is make able.
redmustang04 redmustang04 In the early days of Heinz Field, a 43 yard field goal for a visiting kicker was a coin flip at best. Bad turf and the winds whipped around in circles because of the open end to the stadium. But still... that’s why you pay a kicker, to make that kick.
+redmustang04 redmustang04 Heinz Field is one of the hardest to kick a field goal. The longest kick in NFL history there is 53 yards and that was kicked by former Dallas Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey until two years ago Pittsburgh Panthers kicker Alex Kessman (College Team) broke the record at Heinz Field.
Ben has GOT to hold the NFL record for the most interceptions in critical situations. While he does have a generally good record and stats, his propensity for throwing untimely interceptions is keeping him from being a truly great quarterback and why Brady will always be thought of as better.
Never mind Brady. This is why Ben is regarded as a second-tier QB at best and never rose beyond that level in his career. With the exception of 2005, Ben was a merely a passenger on most of the Steelers championship teams. The Defense was usually good enough with Troy P. to cover for him. Holding opponents in check until he got his act together. Ben couldn’t win once the Steelers Defensive core faded. ‘05 was where Ben stepped up and emerged as a leader of the team. He was never that good ever again.
@@EdmacZ Ben is not even close to a second tier quarterback. He carried the team for most of the 2010s when the defense was bad and took the Steelers to the playoffs most years.
Doug effed up the jets chances twice at winning this game. I don't think they would've beaten the pats for the afc championship but I think they would've given them a better fight then the steelers for sure.
A lot of it comes down to avoiding injuries so the team is healthy come playoff time and the team's peak. The 2005 Steelers peaked in week 14 after losing 3 straight and that carried over into the playoffs.
This team has the best steelers record, but no way the best team. Their defense carried them at the end. Ben really struggled with the big games later in his rookie year. That even boiled into the super bowl a year later. Imo, Ben always kinda struggled in big games, with exception of SB 43. SB 45 he had some horrible throws and a pick 6. He started to make up for it later in the game, but the final drive was his time to shine and it went nowhere. Not saying he's not a hall of famer, but his playoff performances were hit or miss.
The jets outplayed the fduck out this steelers team and their loser kicker just had to destroy everything they worked for. This one was probably the worst jets loss I've ever witnessed.
The Jets really shouldn't have been in this game anyhow. One big play on special teams and one on defense is the only reason they were. Ben gift wrapped the defensive TD
17:44 Steelers Jeff Reed 45 Yard FG
24:20 Steelers Jerome Bettis 3 yard TD run
34:09 Jets Doug Brien 34 Yard FG
51:04 Jets Santana Moss 75 Yard Punt Return TD

NFLfan 2008 yeah that was there downfall when Favre got hurt but mangini got a raw deal I believe if the jets kept him they were going to be good for awhile he knows how to build and find talent I believe Rex ruined it after the first 2 years
Oh my god, a Jared Fogle sighting
Could please you try to find the Jets Bills game from September 8, 2002?
You mean the game where Pennington faked out that LB for a TD? LOL
Dennis Jeanpierre and Chad Morton returned the kick for winning score in OT
@@djeanpierre I thought Testerverde started the 02 season?
Hey Bart I’m not sure if u saw my comment the other day but I’m requesting for Browns and Patriots 2013 if u have it thanks
yep, i have it unlisted: ua-cam.com/video/62r34CpjPIM/v-deo.html
I didn't know Steelers were playing down to competitions before Tomlin became HC.
How were they playin down to competition.? They both made the playoffs moron.
16-1 and playing down to competition? Huh?
The Steelers were 15-1 with a rookie Quarterback playing a Jets team with a stout Defense in the playoffs.
You need to get off the meds.
Y’all said that shit when we lost to Tebows Broncos . Y’all was still talking shit on Tomlin when we were playing with Mason Rudolph and Duck. Cowher wasn’t as great as tomlin haters would admit . This was definitely a game the Steelers should have lost and they were 16-1 playing at home against the 5th seed 10-6 jets team
Actually it was Ben's rookie season. We didn't play the jets in the playoffs his second season. It was bengals, colts, broncos then seahawks in the superbowl.
Special Teams cost Pittsburgh at least 2 Super Bowls
So did the Patriots
@@MKillBill Shit,Don't Even get me started. I am still in therapy
@@MKillBill Patriots beat them head to head in 2001, 2004 and 2016. Also honorable mention goes to 2017 when the Steelers were so butthurt over the "non-catch" they overlooked the Jaguars....and Jacksonville wiped them out.
..that was not a first down for jets at 13;54 left in over time....it's not a catch until both feet touch...not where he jumped from...possession of ball and 2 feet down constitutes a catch in nfl....1 foot in college.
The longest kick in NFL history there is 53 yards and that was kicked by former Dallas Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey until two years ago Pittsburgh Panthers kicker Alex Kessman (College Team) broke the record at Heinz Field.
todd long not at Heinz Field
Ultimately lost to a better Patriots team and better quarterback in Brady.
wtf doug obrien missed two field goals??
I was at this game
Jets only put up 3 on offense smh
I agree. Hard core steeler fans would agree.
@@EdmacZ Ben is not even close to a second tier quarterback. He carried the team for most of the 2010s when the defense was bad and took the Steelers to the playoffs most years.
Some truth to him throwing untimely interceptions. 2018 was bad for that.
Drew Bledsoe was just as bad
Doug effed up the jets chances twice at winning this game. I don't think they would've beaten the pats for the afc championship but I think they would've given them a better fight then the steelers for sure.
Good game Pittsburgh
This might have been the best Steelers team ever. Too bad season didn't end with a Lombardi. I have often said the best team doesn't always win the SB
Hahaha look what happened 3 years later. 18-0 Patriots didn't get number 19
Who the hell is this "Josh" Reed the commentators keep talking about??
little ben LOVED to throw interceptions. so did brett favre and kenny stabler. oh well!
I believe Doug Brien got cut after this game and never kicked in the nfl again
Our defense need to watch old steeler games and Tomlin needs to drill this into their heads
rummy mossberg at the end of the day it’s about talent . This year 2019/20 the defense is coming around
F**ken Doug Brien!
Doug fucking Brien smh Jets had a great team this season, this game still gives me nightmares.
Jets should win this game
2:12:29 Thats short
I miss Troy polamalu 😞
Jeff Reed not Josh
if the jets won this game they would have had plenty more good football in the decade
How? They would have lost in Foxboro a week later
Should’ve been Bills at Steelers.
bill leavey sure does a ton of pitt games hmmmmmmm
