PS I normally don't mind when people mispronounce fantasy names, but Theseus? Think like the ending is pronounced in the same way as Perseus, where the E after the S is very much a pronounced syllable. I generally don't correct people's pronunciation on youtube (even when they get scotch whisky names horribly horribly wrong!) but that one I couldn't let go. I'm sorry!
Look I'm hopeless when it comes to pronunciations of words PERIOD. Like in my every day life. My family (kindly) teases me about it all the time. What do they mean!!!" was for not. I remember when they first aired the ending and everyone was so mad. JJ does not know how to write an ending to save his life and the reason is he does not write. he builds in chucks and works himself into a corner. It's sad that the writer did not manage to stop that happening here.
You didn't spoil it lol I watched all of the seasons in real time and I like am STILL NOT OVER what a bad ending it was. Like I got the ending but I hated it.
The hatred towards Abrams is misplaced. In most cases. He can see him to the idea for lost and he was a producer but he didn't run the show nor Did he write it. He also got screwed over in the case of Star wars because he was hired to set up a trilogy and then on the second movie it was handed off to someone else who completely screwed up the story he had designed, and then he was tasked with trying to fix it for the third movie. Also, the constant mispronunciation of Theseus is painful here. It is Theseus, not thesis. Two very different words

Eu li a versão traduzida do Brasil e gostei bastante da experiência. É uma obra de arte.
It surely looks like an interesting concept. However it also looks like you would need to really dedicate your entire waking time to this book. And it doesn't look like you can really take it with you a lot with all those smaller paper sheets inside. I have so little time that a normal book often takes months to finish and mostly the only place where I actually get the time to read is in the train. If I had this book it would probably take me decades to finish.
Can you tell the original page number where you found the letter on the yellow notepad paper?
Page 203
I'm not sure to get the soft cover or the hardcover. Anyone can guide me?
Raw Shark Texts.
Ok I wikipedia'd the synopsis and it is WILD. I won't lie. It made me really want to read it lol. Although I'm nervous I won't understand a lot of references...I'm never good at that kind of thing.
I went chapter by chapter.
Lolz I usually prefer gushing over ranting, but J. J. just hits a spot u know?
He can't write a consistent story to save his life
I don't hate J.J. at all...but like I'm pretty scarred by Lost considering I gave it like...7 years of my life or something. I just think he needs a partner. Too much of his work has proven to be all mystery no solutions, and he needs a solution guy on his scripts haha
I own it but haven't taken the leap yet. Lol
It does take more work/time than an average book so I get the hesitation haha
Good answer, as to whether it was good or not. It was interesting but the book itself was sort of mehhh.
Didn’t understand any of it really. It’s like the movie Inception. Probably have to go through it a few times in order to understand it lol.
I read it the same way as you.
Hello, just wondering if someone can tell me which part of the book the yellow letter is from. I got the book today and it fell out before I started reading; I want it to be in the right place
You need to place it right before page 203 which is the start of chapter 6. Hope this helps.
I read this book and was thoroughly disappointed, which sad. I had such high expectations
Yeah I was trying to keep expectations lower in my review. It still stands as the most unique book I've ever read, but the ending left a LOT to be desired.
@@Bookborn Yeah I definitely agree. Quite interesting but the ending didn't pay off. Really like how it feels on your hand though haha, definitely a tactile experience
Haven't read this one, but it doesn't really look like my kind of thing. I am glad you did this though as now I know it is by JJ I can happily skip it anyway!
I have no idea why I suffer from this affliction, but there it is. I don't get offended when people point it out, I just try and learn from it for the future lol
@@Bookborn As I said, normally I wouldn't mention it, but that one just kind of caught me off guard as I thought it was such a famous name from Greek myth everyone had heard it. You are safe from me correcting you on contemporary fantasy names though. Well, unless it is completely bonkers and bears no resemblance to the written name at least. ;)
@@thewhiskybowman Like that's the crazy thing. I've obviously heard "Theseus" before and like when you said that I was like "yep that's right" but my brain just doesn't quite make it there all the time haha
@@Bookborn Well if mispronouncing a few names is your biggest foible you are doing all right! Speaking of names, did you know that Terry Brooks steals some of his character names from maps or an atlas? I know this as there is a demon character in his books called Findo Gask. Which just happens to be the name of a small hamlet I used to pass by when visiting a friend in Perth. A useless but marginally interesting fact to make up for correcting you earlier. ;)
@@thewhiskybowman lol seriously don't feel bad about correcting me! I'd rather know than not. And honestly what a good way to come up with character names; there are some beautiful landmark and city names out there.
hate to spoil this for you, the ending of lost is an "it's all a dream as the MC's brain was dieing" it ties everything up in a half baked awful way by saying "ohh that was all in his head it meant nothing" All the "the numbers!!!
Need more people so spread this video more
Did you read it and like it??
The hatred towards Abrams is misplaced. In most cases. He can see him to the idea for lost and he was a producer but he didn't run the show nor Did he write it. He also got screwed over in the case of Star wars because he was hired to set up a trilogy and then on the second movie it was handed off to someone else who completely screwed up the story he had designed, and then he was tasked with trying to fix it for the third movie.
Also, the constant mispronunciation of Theseus is painful here. It is Theseus, not thesis. Two very different words
Oh no, I forgot about "Lost," hahaha, ahahahaha
I'm so sorry to bring the trauma up to you again.
lol It's all good.
If I read a book with a lot of annotations on the sides of pages, I feel like I'm invading somebody else's privacy. 😅🤓🤣
That's the best part, right?? The ability to invade fictional privacy and scratch that itch? lol
@@Bookborn For the sake of thrill, indeed, I can't help but agree. 😅
That book is giving me anxiety lol
lol it's definitely for people who like organized things 😂
Agreed 100% on Lost ending 🤬😡 and this ending was a little annoying but not as bad as freakin’ Lost’s ending.
ThesEUS
So J.J. Abrams can't do anything by himself - let alone finish stories :-)
lol I mean...it's his track record at this point
@@Bookborn OK, have to say, I was more or less referring to his TV career. So generally maybe not the best comment in the world. Sorry! :-)
@@toinenosoite3173 Oh I was agreeing with you! lol
@@Bookborn I know - just stupidly being too careful...
Add closed captions please! Thank you!
I hope to in the future. Right now that's a super large undertaking that unfortunately I can't accomplish currently!
Bad Lost take
