To put this in context. The Rolling Stone magazine had put out a list of the greatest guitarist and they didn't put Prince on it. This was him showing them and the rest of the world how stupid they were for not putting some RESPECT on his name.
RIP Prince. Not only did he kill the solo, he played it with such swag and style . . . legendary badass-ary! He was truly the Mozart of our time. If you have not already seen his halftime performance at the Super Bowl, you should check it out. GOAT.
I've never listened to Prince much, but after a few phrases I could instantly tell he was top 10 without question. He gave me Jimi vibes on this one. Absolutely legendary.
For the love to George Harrison, it's so special with George's son Dhani there next to Petty, and when Prince plays to Dhani it's just emotional. (Jeff Lynne to the left of Petty) (Winwood behind Lynne on keys) Beautiful, thanks so much for playing. PS I have seen them all live ,,,,, YAY Rock Gods.
This was when George Harrison was inducted into the 2004 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Great tribute to George & this is one of his best songs that he wrote. Dhani Harrison (George's son) was playing guitar with all the other mega stars that night. Sadly we have lost Tom Petty & Prince now.
To be fair, this is not a tribute to the Beatles but to George Harrison and I am sure you know that is his son playing the acoustic behind Tom Petty on stage. It must have been great for him (and he looks so much like his father).
Somebody commented that she and her husband saw Dhani live in concert, and he very strongly channeled his father's presence. Her husband said, " Why do I feel like i finally got to see George Harrison in concert?"
I love it. Prince leans back and has someone off-stage hold him up and then looks back at George's son like "too much?" only for Dani to cheer him on. Then tosses the guitar in the air and struts off
Steve winwood is playing keyboards, and isn't seen often in this. The guy with the tambourine is going full ham! Earlier that day Rolling Stone had listed the 100 greatest guitarists, and Prince was left off. He wasn't too happy...and I think there was a bit of a FU as well as a tribute to George from him. We all go back to see where the hell the guitar goes to!
OMG SO GOOD. Everyone says they didn't know about Prince. It surprises me cuz he is top at a few instruments including piano! BB King was once asked who he thinks is among the best guitarists and ha said "Go ask Prince,. He's more qualified". SO COOL. Great reaction Shawn! Thank you ❣️
It's one of, if not the best guitar solo I've ever seen or heard, I got something in my eyes as well. I wasn't welling up with tears either, it's probably just allergies... lol I miss Prince and Tom Petty, they were taken too soon. I appreciate being able to experience these legends, who's performances will live on even though they are no longer with us. You're the best Shawn.
I miss George Harrison, and am so grateful for all of his beautiful music. He is my favourite Beatle 🥰 and his handsome son Dhani playing his dad’s music is incredible ( as if George was right there on stage !) Jeff Lynne 🎸Steve Winwood 🎹 Tom Petty 🎸 Dhani 🎸 PRINCE 🎸! Check out the Tribute to George at Albert Hall in London which has Ringo 🥁 Paul McCartney 🎹 ( former Beatles ) Eric Clapton 🎸and more artists, it is beautiful. Another George Harrison tribute you would like is My Sweet Lord with Billy Preston singing & playing piano with other musicians as well 😻☮️❤️🔥
There was a Concert for George at The Albert Hall in London. In tribute for George after his death. Many stars appeared including Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney. If you can watch it you’ll love it.
Good recommendation. If I remember rightly this was the concert where McCartney takes the lead on "All Things Must Pass" which was kind of fitting, given that it could have been a Beatles song had Lennon and McCartney been a bit more open to allowing space for more of George's songs.
When the producers of the tribute called Prince to ask if he wanted to do the solo, he agreed; however, when they said he needed to arrive at a certain time to practice with the rest of the group, Prince told them not to worry, "I've got this." The producers were confused and were like, no we really need you here for practice. Once again, Prince told them he would arrive before the performance and that "I got this." They shrugged and said, if he says he has it, we gotta trust him, after all he's Prince. And, as we all know now, he sure did have it. He came onstage right before the solo, slayed it, tossed the guitar in the air and strutted offstage. I imagine he had practiced that solo a few times already in his life and had dreamed of playing Clapton's part in the song. I'm almost certain that he had been ready for years to play that solo. The other stars in the tribute were all consummate professionals, so I'm sure they had no problem going with his flow. The song is fantastic! ✌❤
BTW, I've always said that if Prince had made a career in Rock instead of Pop, he would have given Hendrix a run for his money as one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived. Don't get me wrong, I love most of his music, but his potential as a guitarist was incredible.
Prince showed up for rehearsal but the other guy kept playing his part. Prince then left, he and the producer agreed for him to only do the outro solo and he killed it. Yes the other group members were surprised by his solo.
You're not alone. Hundreds of millions of people love Prince and know that we lost the Mozart of our time. His music is known around the world and many cities and countries paid tribute by lighting their landmarks purple. Many other tributes followed. Sometimes you don't know what you got til it's gone. "Sometimes I wish life was never ending And all good things, they say, never last" - Prince Liv4luv 0(+->
It also blew my mind when I first saw it. And I think I also shed a tear. Great reaction, man. Dolores O'Riordan (from The Cranberries) singing "Go Your Own Way" (live on Europe2 radio station) is another stunning performance. Thanks 🙏
Its really too bad that they dont make this awesome music anymore. I am so happy to have had the pleasure of this music and all the awesome and talented musicians. 60's/70's/80's were Iconic years. I remember when Jeff Beck (the greatest guitarist ever) said he would have really loved doing a song with Prince. R.I.P Jeff Beck and Prince in Rock & Roll heaven❤
I had the same reaction to the version and especially to Prince`s performance which is probably the best performance by him that `ve seen anywhere, ever. Dhani is George Harrison`s son, by the way.
Shawn FYI Steve Winwood was the lead singer of the group Traffic and that's why I have suggested trying out listening to his group or his solo career music. His music was as creative as anyones.
Tambourine and perccuision player is Steve Winwood drummer in Traffic. He was also a Great singer Who also worked with George Harrison and Eric Clapton on soloalbums check him up sadly he has joined George, Tom and Prince up there
Dhani Harrison looks just like his dad. Now you know who he is! And, you know exactly what George looked like when he was a young man with the Beatles too. :)
I never saw this concert, but the version I remember was McCartney, Clapton, Dhani, Jeff, & Ringo, along with at least two other drummers. I've read & heard criticism by George's fans of Prince's performance, saying he wasn't there to honor George, but to prove a point to his own critics, and to basically showboat. You be the judge.
Don't feel bad about the tears. I'm right there with you. There are so many songs out there that affect me to my soul...and nothing but tears when I hear them. The Garden by RUSH is a great example. Love the song, but can't hear it without the tears. Kudos to you, my friend. Stay real!
Prince was also inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame the same night & he performed his own stuff for that. This was an legendary bonus that the producers thought up some time before the show. Prince went to rehearsal but the other guitarist was taking all the solos, so Prince told Tom Petty, ok, no problem, just leave the final solo for me. He didn't show them what he was going to do, he just set everything on fire when the night came, lol! There's a whole NYT article about this show, with interviews of the people there. Tom Petty said he knew something really special was happening so he just let Prince keep going. You can see Prince keep looking at Tom for the green light to continue. For Prince to shine that bright with all those other legends on stage, it's was magical.
I just came from your original Beatles production which you rightly were blown away with. This certainly does it justice. All stars for an all-star tune. Prince showed us why he is Prince. What a talent. Great comments.
When Prince was in his prime, I didn't really pay him much attention, and the few songs I heard of his on the radio I thought were just so-so. And while I knew he was a pretty good guitar player, it was only after I saw this performance that I realized he was a great guitar player! Wow! I'm sorry for never giving him his due back in the day... He absolutely crushed that solo!!!
Great reaction Shawn. That was my reaction when I first heard this too. Moved to tears. I don’t know how that room didn’t implode with all that talent in it.
There's a story out there that Prince missed the song's run through the day before and everyone was worried that Prince wasn't ready. When confronted he just said, "It's cool. I'll be ready".
Prince beat Mozart, he mastered over 14 instruments by age 17, he could dance, sing any note, rap, he wrote, arranged, performed ALL his music, including wrote hits for other artists, he has covered almost every genre, Metal, Punk rock, hip hop, pop, r&b, soul, jazz, blues, country, ambient, classical, techno, house, disco, instrumental. The Multi-Genre God. He could play anything, and your favorite artists have been deeply influenced by him. Corey Taylor, Whitney Houston, Steve Vai, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Lil uzi vert, H.E.R. , Paul Mccartney, all worship Prince to just name a few. Prince recorded his first 2 albums at 16 all by himself, all instruments, lyrics, arrangement, composition & vocals were all by him. He was such a prodigy, that music executives wanted proof, they would fly across country just to see if he could really play all instruments, because it was so unheard of. Prince has over 50 official released albums and when he passed, they found over 10 thousand unreleased Prince music in his vault. He then came into the business and was the FIRST to fight for artists rights, and he WON. He would write "slave" on his cheek and go to meetings protesting against the industry. Prince was also the first artist to sell his music on the internet. You are talking about the most talented artist we will ever see.
This is one of my all-time favorite performances in all my life!!! I absolutely love this performances from these legendary artists!!! Half of them are dead...R.I.P. to all of them who are not with us in this physicality of Life however are still with us through their music and videos. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Dhani ( pronounced Danny) is the proud son of George Harrison ⭐️I couldn’t wait for Prince to start playing . I’ve literally watched that performance at least 100 times . I can’t get enough . Prince told them he wanted the last solo . They had no idea what he was gonna do really . They just followed with eye contact. Every one of these guys were on the Top 100 guitar players of all time list. Prince didn’t make the list . He wanted to show all the voters how wrong they were .
Yea man, when those emotions hits a person, it's good just to let it out... great reaction Shawn. It would be great to see you reacting with your brother ese, cheers.
You see the look on Tom Petty's face and he is obviously impressed with Prince - and Petty was playing every night with Mike Campbell who is a guitar god himself!
Introducing, "PRINCE" to you for the First Time! He's THE MAN and the Absolute Greatest lead guitarist of All Time, as said by Every Guitarist and Artist. #ThePurpleOne #HisRoyalBadness
"My son looks more like George Harrison than I do". ~ George Harrison.
When and where did he say that?
To put this in context. The Rolling Stone magazine had put out a list of the greatest guitarist and they didn't put Prince on it. This was him showing them and the rest of the world how stupid they were for not putting some RESPECT on his name.
He was on the list he was just low.
Eric Clapton was asked once what it was like to be rock's greatest guitarist and he said, "I don't know, you'd have to ask Prince."
He was NOT on the list until after this. They revised the list in response and put him at 34.
RIP Prince. Not only did he kill the solo, he played it with such swag and style . . . legendary badass-ary! He was truly the Mozart of our time. If you have not already seen his halftime performance at the Super Bowl, you should check it out. GOAT.
When you see Dhani you’ll see George. It’s so is son.
Most people do not realize how great a guitar player Prince really was. This was a wake-up moment for many of them.
Oh, I knew. Loved Prince.
Yes. Because he chose to do pop instead of rock. Where his guitar skills went largely unappreciated by most his fans.
Gross mis-allocation of talent.
@@robbob5302 not really since dude could play over 20 instruments. He didn’t just do pop either. He did Jazz,R&B, Rap etc.
I've never listened to Prince much, but after a few phrases I could instantly tell he was top 10 without question. He gave me Jimi vibes on this one. Absolutely legendary.

Did you see Prince throw up his guitar and it didn’t come back down. Classic
Fabulous instrumentation,Prince really did his thing, but Tom Petty's,and Jeff Lynne's vocals was my personal favorite part of the performance.
Prince takes a drop the mic moment to a whole other level.
Prince’s ultimate drop the Mike moment
I love it. Prince leans back and has someone off-stage hold him up and then looks back at George's son like "too much?" only for Dani to cheer him on. Then tosses the guitar in the air and struts off

And Prince strutted off the stage like a boss 🤘🏼

I hope you "caught" prince's guitar 😂😂😂
Congrats, you're hitting some of the great live performances in rock! 👍. Also, this is one of the greatest guitar solos ever(Prince)
That is how you react to this performance. Truely one of the best live moments in rock n roll history.
I haven’t seen this before, OMG, I love this!!!👍👏👏👏👏🩵🩵🩵
There was a Concert for George at The Albert Hall in London. In tribute for George after his death. Many stars appeared including Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney. If you can watch it you’ll love it.

Great reaction, man.
Dolores O'Riordan (from The Cranberries) singing "Go Your Own Way" (live on Europe2 radio station) is another stunning performance.

Great find!! Dhani is George's son.
So sad the number of great people on that stage that have passed since this.

Shawn should hear early Steve with Spencer Davis Group when he was 17; stunning vocals! Like Keep On Running.
There was nothing Prince couldn't do with an instrument.

Brought to tears just like you.

I have never seen this performance before, wow it is great! Thanks to the requester. Love your reaction, Shawn!💜
Every musician on that stage is amazing. Prince is a whole different level. Pride of Minneapolis, Minnesota
If anyone has seen the movie Beautiful Creatures, Dhani Harrison did the sound track.
When Prince was in his prime, I didn't really pay him much attention, and the few songs I heard of his on the radio I thought were just so-so. Would be so fun to have your brother on watching this!!! Do it! 😁
you by far have the singularly best reactions I have seen on UA-cam ty man
Great reaction Shawn. That was my reaction when I first heard this too. Moved to tears. I don’t know how that room didn’t implode with all that talent in it.
Prince was never given enough credit for the amazing guitarist he was ❤❤❤❤
Love that you got emotional. That’s what music is supposed to do. Prince is simply the best ever 💜💜💜
Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Prince..., did you see his guitar mastery??!! Great cover to the original song!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
A great performance from such legendary musicians.
Goosebumps! 🎶🎶🎶👍
One of my favorite live performances! ✌🏻☀️
Well, now you have to react to Peter Frampton and Eric Clapton's performance of this song!
There's a story out there that Prince missed the song's run through the day before and everyone was worried that Prince wasn't ready. When confronted he just said, "It's cool. I'll be ready".

Symbol doing what he he does best, trying to prove that he is better than anyone else on stage. Definition of a diva.
Next step can be listen to Handle WithCare by Travelling Wilbury's!
This is one of my all-time favorite performances in all my life!!! I absolutely love this performances from these legendary artists!!! Half of them are dead...R.I.P. to all of them who are not with us in this physicality of Life however are still with us through their music and videos. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I feel the same...😢
RIP George Harrison
RIP Billy Preston
RIP Prince
RIP Tom Petty
Shawn, music can be so emotional, you get it!
This was Epic and Prince killed it
Also…the Clapton version also has 4 drummers including Ringo Starr and Charlie Watts of The Stones…Paul McCartney, Dhani, his son, Jeff Lynn etc.
Prince was really shreddin' that Telecaster.
Prince and George Harrison (posthumously) were inducted into the RRHF that evening
Super cool. Sadly so many have passed. 🙏🎶
Dhani Harrison is George Harrison's son...
This was awesome and emotional, Thanks🎼👏🏻♥️♥️💔💔🌷🌷
I think the first lead player should have gotten a Name Credit on the performance,he did alright they left his name off the roster!
Great reaction!
Till this day everybody wants to know where did prince guitar went to and who caught it
Dhani ( pronounced Danny) is the proud son of George Harrison ⭐️I couldn’t wait for Prince to start playing . I’ve literally watched that performance at least 100 times . I can’t get enough . Dhani Harrison, George's son...spitting image of his dad, this song is a tribute to George Harrison.
Yea man, when those emotions hits a person, it's good just to let it out... great reaction Shawn. It would be great to see you reacting with your brother ese, cheers.
Beautiful ❤❤❤
There’s one with some of these guys and Eric Clapton and Gary Brooker of Procal Harem on piano
Seems to me George Harrisons son is playing on stage as well.
That's the Dhani to whom the poster referred.
You need to watch the question of you live prince amazing gituar solo
❤❤❤
I always wished that Prince would have played Jimi Hendrix in a bio pic. I bet he could &ave learned to play guitar left handed...Prince was a genius.
You see the look on Tom Petty's face and he is obviously impressed with Prince - and Petty was playing every night with Mike Campbell who is a guitar god himself!
The version from the Concert for George Video was much better. Clapton plays to support the song, Prince plays for himself.
Fantastic request and reaction♥
Great!
Is that a killer cover tune or what? Great singing and Prince smashed it. Great video and commentary.
I believe the one you referring to is Gavin DeGraw
Check out Prince Live 2004 - The Question of U - awesome performance, killer guitar
I'm from Minneapolis. More prince.
