I couldn't get through the first episode cuz the writing was bad and I hate dumb irl references. I'd rather watch something that wasn't tied to real life in that way. Glad I didn't see that butt hole part haha
@@patrickleighpresents749 And Panty and Stocking was almost a parody of american shows, especially Powerpuffgirls and what ever they saw on Comedy Central.
I commented on Crimson Sin's vid on this show, and I'll reiterate here: I can never understand why Western animation is considered "adult" where it's just the same typical "SEX SEX SEX SWEAR SWEAR GROSSOUT" crap. To me, that's very juvenile and is a teenager or child's *idea* on what is considered adult. I find it immature and over-reliant, and thus extremely mind-numbingly boring. What is considered "adult" to me, is stuff like Ghost in the Shell, Berserk, and Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade - while there's brutality in these stories, there's also deep commentary behind them, which I feel a kid and even a teen may not be able to properly grasp, and requires a lot of thinking. I also really despise how most Western animation tries to parody, deconstruct, reconstruct, invert or reference anime or genres in anime like magical girls without knowing why these elements are even there in the first place or what the source material originated from. Magical girls were actually quite empowering when they were first conceived in Japan - they stood for a girl growing from adolescence to an adult: hence why you got the transformation scenes where the girls were essentially naked yet not sexualised (and no, I don't count Kill la Kill here because while close, it misses a number of conventional magical girl genre tropes) and transformed from an ordinary high school girl to a female soldier. They also fought as embodiments of some of the most positive morals and values like love and justice (Sailor Moon, anyone?) because those morals and values are important. However, I suppose because magical girls are cute, wear pretty dresses, and can be appealing not just to girls and women but also boys and men, then we have harpies in the West screeching about whatever damn Buzzfeed word is in at the moment. Same with otome - it's for a particular audience (ladies who want to date men) yet because it's "non-inclusive" and has 'problematic values", it's considered sexist/misogynist/homophobic/lesbophobic...never mind that the first otome was actually created by a group of women (Angelique), and it's for a particular audience. If they think making cheap references like this is funny, I'm certainly not laughing nor do I find it endearing. I'm probably the target audience as I'm a woman, not white, a millennial, and I adore anime (having first watched it when I was a child as my mom introduced me to Astro Boy). However, this is low-tier trash and completely worthless to me. There's no substance, and not even any style.
THIS is the kind of critique I look for when it comes to "outrage" over something that the Internet deems "offensive". I have ZERO experience with the Magical Girl genre, but I found this show to be poorly-made and unnecessarily gross-out.
Retsuko is a badass metal rocker that would kick the daylights out this show with DEATH METAL ROCK since I knew something was up with this show. Not suprising they would put this on Sci-fi channel aka SyFy when they originally had a much better show known as The Expanse. Not impressed really XD
Btw, last year The Expanse got revived and thank god it did. Thomas Jane is why he will always be my Marvel Punisher. That and Aggresuko is one of if not one of THE better Netflix show exclusives they have on there.
Princess Kenny would probably waste these two fools and look fabulous doing it.. _..Maybe also while getting bludgeoned/mutilated and getting high from whatever the attack Tall stoner Chick™ (I know she HAS a name, but I'm calling her that for reasons of convenience,of course!) throws upon them, but they'll still have the powers of THOSE BASTARDS (Stone and Parker themselves) and C'thulu to resurrect our lovely Perverted Princess in order to fight back against them, mind you!_
I blame a misunderstanding of Rick and Morty for this style of comedy. Even though I personally don't enjoy Rick and Morty, I can appreciate the irreverence humor, and spastic violence. Problem is, execs just saw random violence, and wacky adventures without diving any deeper. Just like Ren and Stimpy before it, the copycats are pale imitations.
Never was a fan of Rick and Morty's mean spirited bs humor really. I dont mind when it has some cynicalness, but it has to be done right. Look at what happened to Lower Decks of Star Trek (also written by A former Rick and Morty writer). Besides, Archer and Bobs Burgers are a much MUCH better show and was written by better people.
@@JojoMonReturns91 I'm with you on that. But in the end, the show that made the biggest mainstream splash was Rick and Morty. So the one that Hollywood will copy is Rick and Morty unfortunately.
@@Dashound46 that might be true, but there will be many many other creators that will learn the errors of Rick and Morty and someday, the Rick and Morty Copycating might end if this behavior keeps up since alot of people are starting to get tired of Rick and Morty (Final Space as far as Ive heard does well since its NOT a Rick and Morty knockoff and its made by a guy who had alot of ideas on UA-cam before he made that show came to be) as well as taking a different direction on how to do Adult animation (Im hearing Primal is that show, is that good?)
Also, go check out The Shivering Truth since it was written by Vernon Chatman aka Towellie who also provided Xavier Renegade Angel and Wonder Showzen as well as Delocated and The Heart She Hollar since he is an excellent creator that understands how to do writing correctly. That and The Shivering Truth is an excellent Stop Motion Twilight Zone-esque show that is better than the 2019 Twilight Zone by Jordan Peele.
The point was that it had some amount of brainpower to it and there was character development and growth to varying degrees. And there have been consequences to the 'WACKY ANTICS' that go on.
As a huge magical girl fan, I'm really tired of these Western Adaptations completely missing the point of the genre to just make everything a cynical, depressing fest. Are there darker magical girl shows? Yes. But a lot of them are hopeful getaways for people looking for those fantastical elements while maintaining relatability in a way that isn't completely demoralizing. It's why movies like Kiki's Delivery Service hit home for many people. The magic is a gateway to this new world in which Kiki learns to develop her self-confidence. A lot of younger girls and older audiences could relate to this on a universal level. MGFS doesn't feel like it's trying to even understand this demographic and more often than not feels like they're appropriating these works without understanding WHY these are popular to begin with. I don't see the purpose of the show considering other anime such as Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Cardcaptor Sakura, and even Sailor Moon did these types of deconstructions better when they first came out. Regardless of what you think about these show's quality, there's no doubt they had a huge impact on the genre (for better or worse). So seeing MGFS clearly take elements on such a basic level with so little respect is almost insulting. So I also ask the question about how this was a good idea considering how much SM has been referenced in pop culture by other shows, why makes this stand out other than being a poor parody? From what I see, not much.
It's not really an issue of western animation, it is an issue of "adult" cartoons, where creators just make the stupidest laziest, vulgar, childish, worthless trash designed to be cynical and insulting where everything devolves into senseless violence or "comedy" for no reason.
You could argue that this attitude is pretty prevalent even in the anime side of the genre- ever since Madoka it feels like just about nearly every new entry that isn't a Pretty Cure show is a dark, edgy, and cynical deconstruction of the genre. I feel like barely anyone is willing to play it straight anymore; compare to Watchmen's impact on super hero comics, or the Killing Joke's impact on how the Joker could be written (that is to say he really couldn't be taken back to the Golden Age and early Silver Age silliness anymore such as Joker's boner, Batman couldn't be cheesy after that).
@@lilchristuten7568 I think overall adult cartoons have had these issues for years (I definitely don't disagree with any of your points!) and while I don't think all Western shows are bad (far from it), I do feel whenever we get these kinds cynical parody shows, it's specifically catered towards that audience. You do have your fair share of adult animation in other countries that are also very trashy, but it seeing as SM has been referenced so much in Western Media as either a joke or ("lol" quirky) I feel it's also a matter of interpretation.
@@gtf234 I absolutely agree! I love Madoka Magica and other magical girl series after it, but I did not like the overall trend of just making dark magical girls without understanding how it works. It definitely is the same with comics as well. I think a bit of optimism isn't a bad thing in times like these. However, a lot of these showrunners seem to have the mentality that edgy/dark = deep when it's not really. Not saying darker magical girl shows shouldn't be a thing, but they need a level of tact too!
@@Inkfy Darker takes on things is fine but it becomes meaningless when they become so prevalent they become the new normal tone of the genre- they're not deconstructing anything anymore at that point. Gundam and Evangelion did similar to Super Robot- it wasn't really until the Brave series took things back to roots, especially with GaoGaiGar (though Might Gaine's finale is a brilliant writers' revolt against the sponsors), making lots of screaming and hotblooded heroism out of selfless valor become normal again. We're at least starting to see some optimism come back to capes with things like Hero Academia in Jump and Shy over in Champion. They really hammer across the points of the old school style of super heroes and the virtues such characters are supposed to represent. Like even in the very first chapter of Shy, she's reminded that the ugly reality is that she can't save everyone or make the whole world happy, but that she still cares and tries to anyway is what makes her a hero- that's a thought straight out of Grant Morrison's take on Superman, as a man who who could save thousands in a disaster but then go home to his parents to cry over the people he couldn't save in time because he imposes on himself the expectation he could.
@@muhammadfaizmohdnasiruddin9854 Probably very super duper boring and unmemorable but with the amount of shit going on right now I'm not surprised that less stinky garbage is starting to look appealing.
@@Mupyeong This is like how everyone hated the star wars prequels for the longest time then the new sequels came out and now Jar-Jar chanting curses of unspeakable horrors doesn't seem so bad anymore.
I feel that if you're going to specifically parody the magical girl anime genre, make it look like an anime, so to properly shock people with its gross out gags and macabre sense of humor. Making it look like a cross between animated Scott Pilgrim and Steven Universe feels like an odd choice.
Plus with the magical girls begin older women, there's plenty of jokes for that. Instead of fit girls with more energy and wit to them, it's now an older(probably bigger) woman who doesn't have as much fun with slaying monsters or wearing the changing outfit that she probably out grew. She's tried, wants to focus on her career, and maybe find a nice man to marry sense things didn't work out so well with her "highschool love interest". Get some of that purple feeling as the days of colorful costumes and adventures are kind of over. But the show get up a little as she found a girl who can take her place, so she now has to be the mentor and it get into hilarious misadventures of learning how to use the powers and screwing up a few times. It could relate to women who are now mothers and grew up watching Sailor moon and Cardcaptor Sakura, now seeing their kids get into the anime and manga they would have loved.

This is every awful tumblr cartoon in current year. Bumpy designs, lots of pinks, shoehorned in anime references. But because its on SYFY, the added edgy adult humor. Cause why not?
@@tobsonasanya4765 Steven Universe was lighting in a bottle. Cute show with bumpy character designs and a progressive/girl power message behind it. Other shows try to emulate it without any of the heart.
I saw a twitter comment saying anyone who’s says there show was inspired by anime only ever see three shows sailor moon, revolutionary girl, and akira (they forgot dragon ball z but 3/4 ain’t bad) and it’s completely accurate and what’s worse they only just shoehorn references unsubtly going “hey look anime, it’s anime you guys, do you like anime because you know we so watch anime” because referencing good show means our show good. And again all they do is reference it, no similar themes no taking inspiration from there story telling. I love shows like jojo’s bizarre adventure, hunter x hunter, one piece and many others but because of there story telling, creative fighting/power systems and interesting characterization so if I make a show those are the things I will ACTUALLY take influence/inspired in how I make my story
But but but if we don't obnoxiously list all of our favourite anime and other things from pop culture by dropping useless references every 5 minutes how are we supposed to distract you from our lack of creativity and originality. All jokes and sarcasm aside I feel like a lot of shows like this could have Merit if they were seriously reconstructed. A lot of them feel like rough ideas with references and referential humour they're mostly to fill in the gaps and there are a lot of gaps.
As a New Yorker, we are not as bad as we seem, just every impatient and short tempered. The problem we had with tourists is that they stand around while we are trying to move around. In my experience, if someone is in need on the stairs on the subway, someone will usually call the police or ask why the person is there.
And that is perfectly understandable, but the people who made this cartoon probably don't have a basic understanding of making basic sense and trying to plan for a good story.
This feels like one of those shows that are mature in content but not mature in context. Like it's just trying too hard to be "adult" by appealing to adult subject matter while using it carelessly, like a kid that tries to sound grown up by using swear words. While with shows for kids and teens they push the envelope and try to sneak in mature subject matter, adult cartoon shows like this fully embrace it just because they can, which takes impact away from said mature subjects if they do try to do anything seriously. It'd be like having a story where people casually die all the time, and then trying to make the audience care about a second or third rate character's death.
This is the true evidence that cartoons are no longer in an idea of being good and entertaining. And I have family and friends in New York and there not all bad to tourists, it's just that most tourists are standing around being anoying while the people that lice there are trying to get around and keep up with there lives. But... still I wouldn't recommend this show to my greatest enemy, it's depressing and definetly stupid.
I really dislike how this tumblr-raised generation of artists tries to reference anime; instead of understanding the content and innovating with it, they just go "look, a reference!", as if it automatically adds any value. Copying a joke about skimpy outfits from Kill la Kill doesn't make a show as smart as KlK; it just reminds people that there are better shows to watch.
Now that's the first thing anyone's said that makes any sense because that's exactly where it's at. It takes ALOT, and i mean ALOT to even try to muster the strength of considering watching a clip of a modern western cartoon for even a second and they make these lame references to something leagues better.
@@taylorboney1089 I do believe so. If they weren't cancelling them out of the blue and greenlight garbo ones. I hate that CN cancelled a potentially good show like Trick Moon.
Add Rick and Morty into the mix since its the penultimate Virgin (referring to the Virgin/Chad meme) Narcisstic Bitter Angry Millenials since Justin Rowland and Dan Harmon didnt even do good handling the controversies with the Schewan Sauce thing, the infamous SJW Season 4 (since Ive been hearing that one writer was an SJW), and not to mention being not as funny as people make it out to be (I prefer ATHF, Home Movies, Bobs Burgers, Archer and Venture Bros fan than Rick the Dick Sanchez as you might not know).
Not to mention that Alex just has a crush on someone just because she can project her anime fantasies on someone and because he somehow looks attractive rather than his personality and never tried to talk to him. Even Daisy says this
It used to be that every show wanted to be The Simpsons. Then one of them got popular and suddenly everyone wanted to be Family Guy. Now it looks like a bunch of shows want to be Rick and Morty. At least, from where I sit.
@Red Coin ironically, the same people that bitch about "slave wages" are the ones that usually the ones that tweet endlessly about shows with this low of quality, because "OMGLOL SO QUIRKY!" and because they can ship every character.
I'm kind of tired of seeing everybody using the "cool S" in cartoons now. We get it it was a thing that we all did or saw when we were kids. I feel like it's the Millennial equivalent of saying "hello fellow children" only two other adults.
I find that adult animation tends to overly rely on gross-out humour and that can turn people off from watching it. I think Rick and Morty are one of the few show that find a good balance of it. If I ever think it's too much I'd probably watch Primal instead.
What a lot of copycat adult animated shows seem to forget about "Rick and Morty" is that you need to make a compelling story with complex characters. Bojack Horseman did this and people love it. The creators of sows like Hoops and Magical Girl Friendship Squad only saw that people liked these shows that included asshole main characters, cussing and gross-out humor and assumed that was why people liked it.
As bad as this is, I actually applaud them for making their own stuff and stop turning established franchises and characters into their political mouthpieces.
I'm not happy with these so called artist making fun of this genre, the fact that those girls had little to no interest into prevent their world to be destroyed would mean that sailor moon would had slapped both in the face 😡
As a person who is born and Raised in New York I really just don't like the stereo type of New Yorkers because it's the first time I ever seen a cartoon that has an actual place that lives in the world, not all New Yorkers are like that I think they're teens but that's not how people act in New York they just makes it look MORE bad Then it already does
You can make something retro and have it work, the early 2000s were only 20 yrs ago, most would remember or have SOME knowledge of these things. Being dated isn't the issue, being BAD is.
Making IRL references in your own show immediately dates it and makes it throwaway. I don't think the creators will care or remember their own show in a few years.
Its reminders me of one comic-book that Linkara reviewed years ago: Psychoman They have almost the same premise about omnipotent beings given superpowers to random (unlikeable) people for different reasons Except this one: "Our Heroines" are not responsible enough or care about saving the world from forces of evil At least they didn't give them superpowers just to get laid like Psychoman... Great review
It looks like what would be a single South Park episode stretched into a full series with surface-level commentary done in the graphical style of Steven Universe.
Tip from a miniature painter: Don't be afraid to shade. It gives depth and detail to a character design. This also applies to 2d animation. It gives a 3d feel.
The art also isn't doing them any favors from what I've seen. Not that I was expecting 2011 Thundercats tier art, but I feel like there's a type of art style that's gotten pretty popular in recent times and I would rather see something else. I also don't understand the sudden popularity of one dimensional "quirky" characters, when did that become a thing? So many shows have super bland characters coming out and it's pretty mind numbing at this point.
its hard to determine but i wanna say either Adventure Time or Gravity Falls really kickstarted the trend of tons of quirky characters in western shows
I'm (sort of) planning on writing a magical girl story. It kind of revolves around desserts. Thing is I'm busy designing the characters and their worlds right now.
Lol Oh man, I saw the notification pop up and thought this was another She-ra review based off the title. But I don’t know by the sound of it the show seems like something I expect from most adult animated cartoons( although I hear good things about Bojack). This is why I stick with kids cartoons , and it feels weird to say cause I watch shows like “ the boys” which is tv-ma but it’s got good characters and good writing, but kids cartoons just seem like they have more interesting stories to tell like the only shows I watch nowadays are amphibia , big city greens, the owl house, and young justice( even though it’s pretty much on the older side a bit it’s pretty good)
When I saw the bong I knew this show was going to be a lame attempt at gross humor, because animation for adults ALWAYS must be about kids doing drugs and farting. This show looks like a edgy and gritty version of the Owl House, with everything being cynical and "haha, fart!" like, Rick and Morty? Well, I guess there's still folks who would enjoy this, so good for them.
This just reminded me of the High Guardian Spice video you guys did that Crunchyroll was supposed to come out with this year. I wonder what that's gonna be like if they actually go through with it
To HGS's credit, it at least presents the image it wants to be a genuine played-straight magical girl show and not a dark, gritty, and cynical deconstruction of one- I was willing to give a fair chance for that, the questionable promotion choices of it aside.
One of the gals has androgynous hotness going for her, and...that's it. Granted, I'm judging a show based on a review but I agree with your judgements enough to take your word for it.
Watch the sentai Gekisou Sentai Carranger That's a series that parodies the sentai concept but actually does it right as well as understanding the sentai concept and it's really funny
This really is a reflection of the state the adult cartoon industry is in. I'm tired of this western stigma that for a cartoon to be adult it has to be crude and in your face with its execution. An 18+ cartoon can make references to sex and drugs and still be well played out, however when shoved down peoples throats it comes off as extremely pushy and juvenile. Ironically enough, a lot of modern day Childrens cartoons do a better job at executing mature, grown themes than actual self proclaimed adult cartoons do. In a way which it has an either deep and universal commentary, which both minors and adults can really connect to, and/or better, clever execution of humor-at a *ratio* end). Unfortunately the industry is so enforced into this ideal of "crude humor=successful adult cartoon" that we don't get many 18+ works that are actually smart with their references or humor, or many works that execute deep themes in a thought provoking manner. I've seen works online by indie animation producers, student animators, hobbiest and teenage aspiring-professionals that do a better job with their media than a majority of the western adult animation industry does.
There's someone out there that finally got to make their fetish of girls sticking their fingers up a red panda's butt a thing. If this person can achieve their dreams, so can you!
This show is an excellent example of the Western habit of deconstructing the elements of other countries and making a mockery of it under the guise of pseudo-philosophical exploration into their own obsessions and beliefs while claiming said singular belief to be the majority, and harping at any who disagree, even if those individuals are their own people.
Well this doesn't seem like a series I would enjoy at all. With a name like Nut I'd have thought they'd make her a tanuki. Also, that chick they killed looked like she was pot themed, kind of surprised they didn't end up smoking her corpse.

For a second i though he tittle was Magical Girlfriend squad. Like a parody of the magical girlfriend trope shows like Urusei Yatsura (although that show in itself is kinda an subversion of the genre it would spawn) A magical girl parody COULD be great but i wouldn't trust most people to understand the genre at all. I mean it's always the same Sailor Moon parodies by people that like Madoka because it's darker while ignoring how dark magicl girls show have been for years before it.
If you're going to make a magical girl parody... You need to actually know two things. 1: Enough about the magical girl genre to actually parody it, and 2: How to write well. You could do a lot with such a parody if you actually knew the genre and understood it beyond a Twitterati's superficial understanding of everything. But they don't want to. They're proud of their ignorance. Hence, this show.
I think she said that Nut was her actual name, but they still kept the Mother of Isis joke from the original pilot so, even though it was the girls who decided on the name....yeah it doesn't make sense.
@@fandude666 she said that was her native name....native to what exactly? does that mean thats her earth name? also fun fact a donald trump frog is one of the main badguys.
Usually it takes time to develop a show so I really can't offer a cogent evaluation, but based on the first episode, they're just going to rely on gags to drive the show rather than character. Generally this is a bad idea because developers limit themselves severely since they only have "flavor of the month" current collection humor from which to draw. I'll likely have more to say after 3 or 4 episodes. Once they start to repeat their patterns we'll see how deep this well of talent will be.
If I had to alter things but keep some of the main plot, here is what I would do. 1. Have Nut grow increasingly frustrated with our heroes, not going after them because she thinks they're strong but due to some connection they were born with. 2. I would have had her force them to pick more practical items, due to her being already fed up. Force them to start taking things seriously. 3. Going by what I have seen (blessedly little), I would have had it be that her and a male God were responsible for it but her getting the credit, with the male God ending up getting frustrated with her. Have Nut be arrogant to an extent about it until she pushes him too far, he leaves, and she discovers just how much worse off she is without him around (going with the idea of raising children being something both contribute to), with said God now being the villain leading these evil forces, having given up trying to reconcile and wanting both the world to recognize that he was just as important (since shrines might have gotten demonized or destroyed prior to the incident) and to get not entirely unjustified payback against Nut, with the whole thing being a point of great shame and guilt. 4. Have a thing where the girls eventually get their powers taken from them, not because of some evil plan or event, but because Nut has given up on them and has become fed up with their attitude and actions, with her making it clear that she is through with waiting for them to get better. Then have them surprise Nut (and themselves) by actually forcing themselves to get involved anyway, powers or not, since they have actually started to grow into the role of being a hero and aren't doing this for the cool powers anymore. Maybr give them a power-up after awakening to their own powers on their own in addition to Nut giving them their old powers back.
Man this show looks lazy, from the writing you described to the animation being somewhat choppy. The last thing we need with everything going on is this tryhard "I'msoadult" nonsense. Many say that boredom is the best way to kill comedy but I think the real best way is bitterness. And this show is damn, damn bitter. No thanks.
You know, I appreciate a decent adult animated comedy, but there is a method that separates comedy gold and utter garbage. Like you give two people the list of ingredients to bake a cake. One will follow the proper instructions, making sure the right ingredients go in properly and are added when needed. The other would just dump everything in a bowl, stick it in the oven, and expect a cake. This show is the second example.
To be honest, I was excites for this series at first to see where it would go but as the show go on, I'm a bit disappointed. Like I know all shows don't need to be serious but this show coild do better. It outdated with it humor a bit and focus way too much on "millennial culture" rather than magical girl
Meh. I've already seen a magical girl genre deconstruction with Puella Magi Madoka Magica. We've also had a humorous parody with Panty & Stocking. This is... Unnecessary.
wait, you would recommend this to someone else? lmao i like anime and adult humor, i don't enjoy this show at all. the only thing one could do from this is to see how "r-word" they are in making this if anything, i see lots of people recommend "panty and stocking" instead
It's like this show can't decide whether to be Steven Universe, Rick and Morty, Family Guy, or Aqua Teen Hunger Force, so it takes all the worst elements of all of those shows and throws out everything good about them.
Have I seen it? Yes, sadly. I tried to make a Pitch Meeting Parody out of it, but in the end, one wasn't worth the effort and the other one wasn't worth my Time. The Butt Scene wasn't quite as disgusting as I thought it would be, but it was still completely unnecessary. Do you think one of the Writers was into that stuff? I don't like this Shows Humor, but I did chuckle a bit when Daisy and Alex explained to the Red Panda that calling herself Isis would be a bad Idea. Alex and Daisy aren't sympathetic, or interesting or even really funny. They are so boring that I can't even remember which one is Daisy and which one is Alex! And the Forces of Evil that they protect the Planet from don't seem that interesting either. Maybe I'm expecting too much of this Magical Girl Parody, but if the Protagonists are unlikable Jerks why should I watch their Adventures? Sure, they could change eventually and become better, but I doubt that will happen.
Didn't even know this was a thing - thanks for the warning. Honestly? There's plenty of self aware parody Magical Girl shows..... we didn't need this one.
I don't think anyone thought this was a good idea, they thought it was cheap. This is why they always want to work on established properties, when they try their own original, it's utterly terrible and still a knock-off of something. This is what they would do if they got the rights to Sailor Moon, which thankfully will never happen. It just feels like a bad WebComic from Tumblr with the artist putting herself and a friend as Sailor Moon and Mars. Tell me I'm wrong.

Exactly. And Panty and Stocking even did better gross-out humor!
The adults righting it are only considered adults because of their physical age. In spite of their mental age.
@@warrmalaski8570 I think it's time we take into account that physical age does not necessarily denote maturity or quality.

It's a pizza cutter:
All edge, no point.
This is the true evidence that cartoons are no longer in an idea of being good and entertaining.

Also, that chick they killed looked like she was pot themed, kind of surprised they didn't end up smoking her corpse.
shineyorkboy _Especially (WITH)_ the tall ginger chick with the fancy BONG- _Hey,if that were the case,at least she doesn't/wouldn't have to scrounge up enough loose scratch (change) to pay for and later attempt to smuggle some of _*_that sweet Mary-Jane_*_ home past her apartment-landlady from the local Weed dispensary shop downtown, and would have to later hide it in the case if she was caught with it (HOPEFULLY ASSUMING THAT Tall stoner-Chick™'s got a few medicinal/Recreational Marijuana ID card/documentation papers or two that she keeps on hand, both thank you and mind you?) in the next time she wants to gets shitfaced while watching a Cheech and Chong movie,is completely bored out of her head/mind,and/or it's for her period cramps or some shit like that,honestly..yeah..That,or she could dry, ground and sell it to her fellow recreational/medical users for a quick buck-might help with her finances in that way probably-so,I dunno..?!_
Also ( _though not talking as a stoner/Weed user myself,honestly-sorry in advance!_ ),again-going by your possible/implied Assumption in this case here..I'm wondering: _What kinda HIGH would you get from something like that/this sort-of thing_ ,really? _SURE_ -It might be considered something more-or-less than.. _um.. _*_disturbingly enough*,conventional canibalisim-Mixed in with some practically cosmic,anime-inspired bullshit itself,honestly-that's an entire subject matter unto itself, honestly so.._** * I'm..*_disturbed,intrigued AND interested_* in that concept,actually..
Oh,and the Tanuki thing? Oh yes-Since Tanukis (already) have a lot of folklore in Japanese culture spiritually,it pretty much fits,honestly.._ Yet,but _the red panda "Gimmick" Nut's going for is kinda also adorable in a sense already,so I'm not complaining about that at all honestly-so.._
But anyways? Yeah, this _show-does-looks kinda trashy-as some people would/had said so as such, honestly in my opinion much so._
My first thought is why is Nut lookin an awful lot like Pabu from LOK?
Edit: no views, 6 likes, 2 comments. huh.
Because, for reasons that are equally as dumb as the very concept of this show, LoK is practically their go-to for "inspiration".
I was thinking a bit of Shifu from Kung Fu Panda. He would definitely ‘Wu Shu Fingerhold’ these idiots beyond the spirit realm to the closest level of whatever hell exists in their world.
its like people cant tell the difference between parody and simple mean spirited nit picks.
For a second i though he tittle was Magical Girlfriend squad. Like a parody of the magical girlfriend trope shows like Urusei Yatsura (although that show in itself is kinda an subversion of the genre it would spawn)
A magical girl parody COULD be great but i wouldn't trust most people to understand the genre at all. I mean it's always the same Sailor Moon parodies by people that like Madoka because it's darker while ignoring how dark magicl girls show have been for years before it.
the prequel to high guardian spice lmao
I don't know why, but the flashback thing in the first episode reminds me of thunder lust from the Wonder Twins comics.
Even Anime does a better job with gross jokes, like Asobi Asobase, that Anime is hilarious.
Primal season 2 is out, Star Wars Bad Batch (2021). Does anybody remamber Galactik Football ?
The Dragon Prince and Castlevania season 4 also. Two better shows than this bullshit.
If you're going to make a magical girl parody... You need to actually know two things.
1: Enough about the magical girl genre to actually parody it, and
2: How to write well.
You could do a lot with such a parody if you actually knew the genre and understood it beyond a Twitterati's superficial understanding of everything. But they don't want to. They're proud of their ignorance. Hence, this show.
It's a tumblr show, from tumblr.
I was wondering when you will cover this one.
Great job
a good take on irresponsible heroes would be supernoobs. maybe i may be bias right now but its great though it may have tropes.
When tumbler OC take over the media.
You know a show is terrible when at a few days of its existance there is no rule 34 of it, LMAO
speaking of the next episode, why is her original world called Nuts world if thats the name she chose just last episode?
I think she said that Nut was her actual name, but they still kept the Mother of Isis joke from the original pilot so, even though it was the girls who decided on the name....yeah it doesn't make sense.
@@fandude666 she said that was her native name....native to what exactly? does that mean thats her earth name?
also fun fact a donald trump frog is one of the main badguys.

Make

Great
Again
Oh boy. A review for a show on SyFy that nobody even watches at this time!
why syfy of all places
Yeah I started watching syfy less and less since they stopped showing actual sci-fi and just focused on fantasy (no wonder they changed the name).
you want a good adult cartoon with great animation and likable characters? Final Space, do you have an interest in checking it out?
The creator should take cues from Megas XLR if they want to make an anime parody show (Megas made fun of giant robot shows).
You should see the original shorts, they're extremely different than the final show
Man this show looks lazy, from the writing you described to the animation being somewhat choppy. The last thing we need with everything going on is this tryhard "I'msoadult" nonsense. Many say that boredom is the best way to kill comedy but I think the real best way is bitterness. And this show is damn, damn bitter. No thanks.
you watched more than one episode? you are doing god's work for all of us. thank you for your sacrifice upon the cross. we will avenge you madam's.
I actually watched all three episodes and the only thought that popped in my head near the last episode was "Is this what dying feels like?" .
Sounds more like a parody of Netflix She-Ra
you mean twice-digested mediocrity?
At least she ra was kinda good
This show make She-ra and the princess of power look like Avatar the Last airbender
To be honest, I was excites for this series at first to see where it would go but as the show go on, I'm a bit disappointed. Like I know all shows don't need to be serious but this show coild do better. It outdated with it humor a bit and focus way too much on "millennial culture" rather than magical girl
First.
Also, YAY more M & J!!!
Meh. I've already seen a magical girl genre deconstruction with Puella Magi Madoka Magica. We've also had a humorous parody with Panty & Stocking. This is... Unnecessary.
This feels like an insult slap to the face.
wait, you would recommend this to someone else? lmao
i like anime and adult humor, i don't enjoy this show at all. the only thing one could do from this is to see how "r-word" they are in making this
if anything, i see lots of people recommend "panty and stocking" instead
It's like this show can't decide whether to be Steven Universe, Rick and Morty, Family Guy, or Aqua Teen Hunger Force, so it takes all the worst elements of all of those shows and throws out everything good about them.
people where really nice to me and my family when whe visited NY a couple years ago.
I went to New York once and someone told me my backpack was unzipped!
If you want a show that references and parody other known anime while still establishing its own identity, then watch Gintama.
It looks like a crowd funded tumbler animation
Speaking of show with very generic titles, doesn't it seem to be a trend as of late? Like, "Regular Show", "Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese "...
"Who thought this was a good idea?"
Me: *points to a couple of burned out stoners and a board room full of people who think that their main audience are burned out stoners*
Weird. I watched a version of this called Magical Girl Friendship Squad ORIGINS, which I guess was a pitch version of this series, but I kinda prefer that over this since nothing is really shoehorned in
Never heard of this show. I thought from the title and the preview thumbnail this was still Netflix She-Ra and you renamed the show to something more accurate out of sheer disappointment.
This series is the Nutshack on magical steroids
Who the heck picks birth control as a weapon!?
*_Unsure shrug._* Beats me,dude-Yeah,and also..What would happen if she _(Sassy green-haired Chick™-I know she has a name, but I'm just gonna call her that for the reason of convenience-like her friend, the Tall stoner-Chick™-as such!)_ were to, _I dunno_ , run out of it/it gets stolen and/or expires,AND I'M NOT gonna mention the fact that BC's expensive (even if she has some sort of Medical insurance/Medicaid and/or-slash-not,apparently-so,I think..?!) or what would happen if *somebody* forces her off of it or just generally misplaces it by mistake, honestly?
Like,_seriously?_ Did _ANYONE look up shit for reference on this series regarding BC/the effects of what would happen if a Magical girl were to be WITHOUT HER stereotypical charm/Item of transformation, either due to situations whereas it's lost/destroyed on accident, during conflict (on purpose,technically-speaking) and/or by complete misfortune/coincidence honestly..?!?!_ Just saying!?!
1:18 as a New Yorker I will correct you. we everywhere else but NYC love tourists( when they respect the natives) but those of NYC.
Is it bad I actually like Daisy’s design? If you desaturate the shirt a bit the colors work surprisingly well together. It’s just *everything else about her* that ruins it
