  • Here's a 1 year compilation video of my very first restoration project. I had almost no experience when I started this and very few tools.

    Looking at it now it doesn't look like a lot of work for a whole year but it was a huge learning curve for me and I really enjoyed every minute of it. Much more videos coming this following year... I got bit more experience now and few more tools.

    I am also in the process of removing rust on the battery bay and rust on the sunroof, which is a chronic problem with the 924.
    I work for 1-2 hours a day, but it takes a lot more time than I thought because it is meticulously done like removing rotten teeth at the dentist.
    All rusted and non-renewable panels were cut.
    It is planned to remove as much rust as possible before spring, and finish with fiberglass, carbon, and epoxy resin after rust prevention from the beginning of March, which is always at room temperature.
    I always look forward to your next video.

      Great to hear you made progress! Yes, bodywork is very labor intensive. I plan on tackling bodywork myself in the spring. More videos coming soon.

    I had a 1976 and 1/2 924 and I loved the car. Unfortunately, doing this deep of a restoration would not have been economically feasible. Still, I loved watching this video. It brought back a lot of great memories of bombing around my local back roads!

    I wish I could do the same on my 924s.
    (nice paint on the calipers, even if I don't like the yellow...)

    Great job. Was doing the same with wiring harness. Looked pretty depressing at the beginning. Now almost completed rewiring

    Done a light overhaul on a 80 Le Mans, need to care a bit on my 44S2, 2. :) Well done so far, great videos and like the hands on attitude! Lots of patience and very organized. Basically doing everything yourself is the only way (yet) to save these cars currently, later on pobably proper restaurations will pay out enough, making these budget sports cars unaffordable to the common guys, like the 11 is, was and always will be....

    My plan at the moment is to hopefully get a 924 or maybe a 944 and restore it as a project car. These videos are amazing and I was wondering if anybody out there has any idea on what insurance would be like for me. I am 18 soon so obviously being a young driver I would expect it to be larger than if I were older but I want to get one whilst they're still relatively affordable. Any help would be great and keep the great videos going!

      Thank you for watching and hope you find a good project car! Where I live, age don't play any role in a car insurance, so I can't help you there. Join one of the facebook groups... A lot of UK drivers and from the rest of the world too.

    Hi, i am thinking of buying a 924 as my first ever project car. Its about 3000 euros. Seller says it has some problems and doesn't start. Says it might be fuel line related due to it not running 5 years. Would you recommend this car as a first project?

    • @RestorationApprentice
      @RestorationApprentice  Рік тому

      Definitely, my 924 is my first project car. 3000€ might be to steep for a non running car though. For a sitting car you need to do a lot work to make it reliable atop all the regular maintenance and body/interior work it might need. Good luck!

    never use wd40 on rubber, if you want to use the parts again. any kind of wd40 and alike melts rubber.

    • @RestorationApprentice
      @RestorationApprentice  Рік тому

      Every rubber on this car is 30+ years old so nothing will be reused. But I think that theory has been disproven. Check out "WD-40 Long-Term Exposure Testing on Rubber Parts (Experiments Ep.2)" video by Fuzzy Dice Projects

      @@RestorationApprentice yes, there is many types of ,,rubber'', many types of plastic etc.
