Think I like both of these but would love a top load feature on them. Since the tops are in different sections is it possible to add a top load feature?
Hello Sara, great videos. I've learned a lot while trying to find the best candidate to replace my Capital, 1901, Sear Roebuck Cook stove. We use the oven to increase heating and get the most of our wood on cold days. So I'm curious, why do you, "only want to activate your oven when you are actually baking". Doesn’t oven activation increase the flow path of exhaust gasses, heating a greater surface area of the Cook stove. Increasing the heating capacity of the Cook stove itself. Would like to know, if maximum capacities, ratings of Cook stoves, BTU outputs, efficiency ratings, and max and minimum square feet, of recommended Cook stove heating area. Are with the Cook stove oven activated or deactivated. Thanks in advance.
Activating the oven increases soot build-up. Requiring you to clean your stove more often. Control the burn with the air inlet and the damper in the stovepipe. The amount of heat will be about the same.
I have a small scale firewood operations and will be building a camp net year which I will post on my channel. I am going to put a nice cook stove like yours in the camp. thanks for sharing.
Yes, that is the heco 520. Prices include free delivery in lower 48 and no sales tax. Pricing can be viewed on our website here: www.discountstoves.net/520-heco-Wood-Coal-Cook-Stove-p/520heco.htm
Have you looked at the 520 model? This is basically the upgraded version of the 2000 and offers a warming oven: www.discountstoves.net/520-heco-Wood-Coal-Cook-Stove-p/520heco.htm
Hi Cooper! We do indeed ship to Canada, if you get in touch with our sales department (sales@woodstoves.net) they will be happy to help sort out the logistics of getting a stove to you.
I've seen videos on rocket mass stoves and their reburn properties. This sounds the same. Would this Heco stove be able to be piped through an earthen-made bench to warm it, then up and out? Also, with rocket mass stoves, due to the reburn, no smoke comes out of the chimney outside. Is this the case with the Heco, too? Very important to me. Thanks! Great video!
Hi Lionel, The Heco 520 and Obadiah's 2000 have similar BTU outputs, which is largely what determines how hot the cooktop can get. The 520 offers up to 90,000 BTU, and the 2000 offers up to 100,000 BTU. You might be able to achieve a slightly hotter cooking surface with the 2000, but these stoves are ultimately pretty close in that area.
Hi Shawn, We no longer offer the Kitchen Queen 480, but you can expect to find it for about $3200. We sell the Heco 520 for $3350, and you can find it here: www.discountstoves.net/520-heco-Wood-Coal-Cook-Stove-p/520heco.htm
Sarah how tall are you ? It would seem that the cook stove is an excellent hight for you , I would imagine that tailer people would find it a challenging ? Kind Regards from New Zealand snell
I'm 5'1. The heco has a cooktop height of 34" which is taller than the Kitchen Queen stove height by 2". If you need a taller cook height, its recommended that you set the stove on raised hearth. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Video is clear, unscripted, and precise. Perfect articulation and informative, no teleprompter there. Video perfectly done, Nice work.
Thanks! Your kind comments are much appreciated. :)
Thanks Sarah! I am still learning about these wood stoves, but am certain that this is the right solution for my home.

Why didn’t you just say “Don’t buy a Kitchen Queen,” as we aren’t going to tell you anything about them! Total misleading video!
