This is a clip from The Beatles Get Back Documentary where Paul McCartney was making the song The Long And Winding Road by discussing with Ringo Starr and Mal Evans.

"There's enough obstacles without putting 'em in the song" tells the genius from the ordinary
“The wild and windy night,
that the rain washed away,
has left a pool of tears,
crying for the day.”
Epic verse.
Amazing how he moved from an imagistic event of that "obstacle" that he forged into a gripping metaphor.
@@Flewti2 Paul's a genius!
I remember when I first heard that , I did not get all the words and after "the wild and windy night" I sang "when the rain washed the wind,"
instead of "that the rain washed away."
He makes it look so simple, yet, when Mal tries to get as simple as he thinks it is, Paul just shows how beautifuly you can make complexity out of simplicity.
This song is timeless and hauntingly beautiful
It's my favorite Paul song.
Ringo knows God speaks through Paul. His admiration. Beautiful.
why does paul look so exceptionally good in get back? best he's ever looked.

It's the hair. His hair seems to have huge volume, it's "thick". And very dark. Doesn't look that way at all during the wings years.
he’s sexy
This man is a musical genius Paul McCartney knows exactly what he wants to story he is conveying in the long and winding road song 🎵 awesome 👌
Amazing when we've listening to these songs all our lives to see them before they were fully developed
this song for me deserves a spot on Beatles top 10 greatest hits
Абсолютно так
The song always takes me to special time in my life. I stop when it comes on and sing along with it. It brings up some moving memories. But I had to move on from then. An now I’m in a happy place with the one I love

“The thiiing that’s up ahead…..”

There’s a clip in get back where they are listing back to a take of the long and winding road and for a couple of seconds George and paul harmonize the song together and it sounds beautiful

Isn't Paul incredible even though he doesn't have the lyrics he knows what is wants. He has the main idea for the song it's absolutely amazing.
Just had these in his head....amazing

Ray Charles said this song made him want to cry.

I wouldn't mind being an old dude, knowing that I was literally in that room while they recorded this album.

The other Beatles just sitting there in awe while Paul is just like “ello man, like me song here? Wrote it me self”
You truly have a gift for convincing dialouge.
The first time I heard this song I was sixteen. My friends and I would steal a bit of adult beverages from our folks...a little bit from each bottle, collected in an empty soda bottle so they wouldn't notice - then camp out overnight in my back yard. It was the Seventies, so no digital playlists obviously...we would record songs from our vinyl LPs onto our cassette decks for the evening's listening enjoyment. My friend had recorded this song, and right after "you left me standing here-" the song abruptly ended - the cassette had run out of tape - and I thought "Damn... what a clever way they chose to end that song!".
Ringo almost crying:(

0:33 Mal Evans, how sweet this man could be...

@@salimerashid6390 thanks a lot for watching my idol.
paul is my fav. beatle
I thought he was going to play "imagine" in the 0:53 , the first notes.
Shame that Lennon got half credit for what was obviously Pauls melody/lyric. Beatleful song that it is😊.
I know!!!!
"The wild and windy night".
Thank me later Paul.
This is what Sir Paul had written in a letter directed to Allen Klein and Phil Spector:
In the future, no one will be allowed to add to or subtract from a recording of one of my songs without my permission.
I had considered orchestrating "The Long and Winding Road" but I decided against it. I therefore want it altered to these specifications:
1. Strings, horns, voices and all added noises to be reduced in volume.
2. Vocal and Beatle instrumentation to be brought up in volume.
3. Harp to be removed completely from the end of the song and original piano notes to be substituted.
4. Don't ever do it again.
