great review !!! So I have an Ibis HD4 ( enduro bike) after riding my wife’s 5010 realized how much fun I was missing on regular trails so I was thinking of getting a Hightower .. you’re review has me second guessing my decision :) damn it
Thanks a lot ! I personally don't think you can go wrong with the Hightower. Trail bikes are extremely capable these days and the Hightower will be slightly more efficient on the climbs and flatter terrain. Go for it and have fun !
Hey man. I have not tested a new Hightower but I do think that it comes down to your priorities and the types of trails you ride. If you want to race Enduro or if your segment times matter and you want more stability and confidence then go with the Megatower. But if you are looking for a do it all Trail bike that you can go fast on and still do some racing on then I think you would be very happy with the Hightower. Of course, having less travel you will have to pick your lines a bit more carefully on the Hightower but if your climbing to the top and riding trails that most humans ride then the Hightower will be that bike you can’t go wrong with on any given day.
Great video D. The content is great and how it is laid out. Keep creating more. Maybe mention your tires preference and PSI to create the suspension balance that you have. Quick questions: 1) did you get to demo the bike with the rear Air shock Super Deluxe Ultimate before deciding on the Fox X2.2) what is the width of your handlebar (noticed that you switched back and forth between a Fatbar and something else. 3) what stem length did you settle on by choosing the medium frame. (I9 stem is 35mm and RF 40mm)
R0KkS0L thanks a lot for the feedback ! I did not get to demo the bike, the Coil was the only option available when I was purchasing. I ordered the X2 as the alternative because at the time I was thinking that I would need the Air shock and while I do love the X2, the standard RS Super Deluxe Coil that comes on the bike is surprisingly very good !! I honestly enjoy both. However the X2 takes the bigger jumps with a bit more composure. I’ll be diving into these details in my next videos. With regards to the bars, the bike came with Race Face bars at 780mm however I recently switched to Renthal Fatbar Carbon bars at 800mm. I will likely be cutting them back to 780. Running the standard stem that comes on the S build 👍
Sweet rig and great video. I’m running this bike at 180mm and it seems a little off balance. Do you think 170 would improve that or just in my head? Also... are you running carbon wheels? Like you I had the 2019 stumpy which I miss. It’s hard for me to pedal this monster lol
Hey there! I’m currently running the 2021 Fox Grip 2 damper in the fork with a 170mm air spring. I wouldn’t want to go beyond 170 as I feel like it would hinder the climbs a bit too much. I’m currently running the flip chip in the low position but will be switching to the High setting again now that I have the 170mm air spring on there. This might help to bring back more weight on the front wheel. Hope this helps !
Really great review. I just got on a Megatower for the first time about two weeks ago. Loved it. Have you ridden an SB150? Curious on your take on comparing the two.
Thanks , glad you liked the review ! I’ve only ridden the SB150 once and it wasn’t for very long. It’s definitely a nice bike but I think the it prefers to go straight really fast and plow. I think it really comes down to your type of trails and what your looking for in a bike. I do not think you can go wrong with either!

Thanks man!
Dreaming for this one, mate😀😀😀
Keep the content coming, perhaps you could do a video on the local trail builders ;)))
Allan Maynard thanks ! Yes It would be great to do a video on the trail builders and dive into specifics on the trails ! Let’s do it 👍
