I am glad I stumbled across your channel since I'm interested in getting into the box truck business. I'm also similar to you - I spent 20 years in law enforcement (I briefly considered law school, but I'm now working as a teacher). I just want to work on my own at this point in my life and a friend of mine turned me onto box trucks. My current plan is to follow the business over this next school year, save some money up, and then maybe give it a try over the next summer break. That way I'm not out much if it doesn't work for me. Love your channel and please keep them coming!
Ahhh, I can make that with an old half-ton and a raggedy utility trailer..... ......and even more with a small courier van, locally. Ok, ok.... you got me, I'm lying. Great video 👍
This is such awesome information, people will really make you believe you can jump into trucking and make money hand over fist with minimal efforts. Thanks for being so candid.
I appreciate that. I get a little heat from people who don’t appreciate the truth. I suspect they’ll appreciate it later, when they’re closing their business because they only wanted people to tell them what they wanted to hear. thank you for your support
This is why I subscribe to your channel you talk the reality of a business person like my self i look at the bottom line first. you and a few others trucker i know feel that the people who get into this thinking about the money will fail due to lack of hard work and to love what you do. That my first speech when i hire people in my other companies i tell them in the interview don’t think about the money just get the job done and love what you do and the money will come. Also i tell my employees that they are my partners and to manage there money as if its running there business. So thank you for such informative videos and keep them coming. I will always watch even if i don’t agree i know you are coming from a good place so God Bless
Thanks I'm deployed currently and I was going to get into trucking when I got back in the states. your page is very informative. I was debating on the box truck or semi. I'm leaning to semi.
You re a good man Dude...with a good heart....There will always be evil in the world..so don't give a f**k about the negative comments...God Bless you and your Family...Stay Blessed
Thanks for the numbers what type of loads were they long haul or short daily runs ? Want to get into this but issue is my wife’s schedule makes it difficult since she leaves for work at 5am and we have a daughter that needs to go to school at least four days out of the week wife is off Sunday and Monday. Have a good job but I’m looking for working for myself for once. Her job has a pension so she kind of needs to work 4 or 5 more years to get a good pension she is in law enforcement so her schedule is not that flexible
Hello, thank you for your video. I am new to business owning a box truck 24ft in Northeast. Could you please tell few words what us OTR? And regional- means not more than 450 miles radius? Thanks in advance
Love your content just have a question about how do you determine how much you will pay your Driver? Is it a percentage of each load or a flat rate or is he a 1099 employee? Thanks Also what do you think about box truck driving for Regional and OTR and NOT doing Amazon ?
hey thank you for your support. my driver is my 21 yo son, so I pay him 25% of the gross. I think that’s probably too much for anyone except immediate family. Because he is an employee, this costs me closer to 35% with all the employment taxes and payroll taxes. Also, check out my video on how to pay your driver, where I address this topic specifically. regarding box trucking, I think the only way to make great money is to do regional or OTR. It’s tough to make it worth the abuse to your body for Amazon. rates. good luck!
I get insurance from Daniel at the truck insurance channel. he’s great and will be straight up with you and he’s an expert on opening new box truck companies. here is a link to his channel ua-cam.com/users/TruckInsurance
these are OTR numbers, but, its mostly within the south eastern region and a little midwest. We generally take a load from Knoxville, TN on Monday, somewhere down to the north central part of Florida, then get a load in southern alabama or Georgia and take it either up to Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, or over to North or South Carolina, and just kinda bounce around that area, and then make our way back to Knoxville on Friday night or Saturday afternoon. He leaves generally on Monday and resets Saturday and Sunday at home.
I had a national discount program with Penske which they've now ended. It used to be that I could get a regular box truck, a reefer box truck, a flat bed, a semi, and a trailer all under that program. Now, I can keep what I have, but I can't get any more

What equipment are you renting? The semi?
2015 freighliner sleeper and a 53' dry van
Just follow Holmes on Homes. Do it right the 1st time.
Are these OTR, regional or local numbers? What’s your drivers schedule like?
these are OTR numbers, but, its mostly within the south eastern region and a little midwest. Great video mate 👌🏾

Ahhhhh great information here💯💯💯
Thank you!
Hi. Can you estimate how much you spent on mechanical maintenance please?!
hey there. we rent our truck and trailer from Penske. we don’t pay for maintenance.
Day cab, sleeper n dry van or reefer
sleeper and dry van
How much do pensky charge for semi
I think its around $1000/wk now that the discount program for amazon carriers is discontinued
What equipment u rented?
hey Flako, we rent a sleeper and a 53' dry van from Penske.
Hey just curious how you switched over to semi's from box truck. My Ryder rep said I need to be in business for 2 years with the semi rentals.
I had a national discount program with Penske which they've now ended. It used to be that I could get a regular box truck, a reefer box truck, a flat bed, a semi, and a trailer all under that program. Now, I can keep what I have, but I can't get any more
Do you have any expense for trailer?
yes we rent a 53' dry van from Penske and it runs $115/wk plus 4 cents per mile
@@builtonboxes4374 is included in expenses?
yes it’s in the rental equipment number
At the end of the day, it’s survival of the fittest.
