The problem is that before Christopher Chong, Amouage had only released gold man/woman, silver, Dia, Ciel, Ubar and reflection which are honestly more classical French floral perfumes rather than exotic resinous spicy Arabic perfumes. When Chong started creating concepts like Jubilation, interlude, epic, lyric he made Amouage embrace more of its middle eastern heritage. He also did perfumes with a French style like portrayal and journey but his most interesting ones that made Amouage a relevant niche brand are the Arabic inspired East meets West approach. He essentially created the Amouage “it” factor.

Just bought a bottle after emptying a tester...maybe wierd, but to me it feels like a mind of masculine relative of l'heure bleu, both having a kind of aniseed/herby/bergamot (and hints of rose and vanilla)element going on ...one just veers dry iris florals, the other goes tobacco...the two feel like eccentric grandparents

Going to order a bigger decant soon. This 2ml is nearly gone, the frankincense oil I'm able to detect for the entirety of the dry down. Love the balsamic sweetness. I like you acknowledged both sides of your argument against the fish man

Really appreciate your take on this as I tend to have similar taste in fragrances. Royal Tobacco was an absolute love for me since I sampled it at Neiman Marcus. An immediate full bottle (at full price!). Great video as always.

I really did enjoyed wearing it today and I do think its full bottle worthy... just not for me where I am at in my journey... but I could definately recommend it to someone who wants a tobacco frag in their collection especially if they dont already have one... thanks for watching & commentimg 😊
@@RamseytheRam my only issue with it is an accord someone pointed out that now I cannot unsmell. You didn’t mention it in your review so I’m guessing you didn’t pick up on it. Trying to recalibrate my nose. In other news, I grabbed Teatro Alla Scala EDT and Moods. Great stuff! Thanks for the recs and for all you do.

@@RamseytheRam apparently Fenugreek has a maple syrup element. Now I can’t stop smelling maple syrup. 🥞🥞🥞
I can see that...i interpreted that more as liquorice & oils ... but i could see maple syrup... except I dont get much sweetness from this🤷♂️
Was going to wear this today, but ended up with Kajal Homme II. I'll wear it this weekend. Love Boundless too.

Oh, I do like his Sandalwood attars. I did get Champa.
I think those Areej le Doré attars are some of the most beautiful sandalwood based frags I have ever smelled on planet earth... i guess its the distillation and how everything infused with sandalwood over many day weeks and months...
I dont know how I feel about Rogue being IFRA Compliant you know? Kinda kills the whole ROGUE vibe ☹️

Fosco! I sort of feel the same way with my first impression at the Amouage counter in KOP. I did get a full sample though. I'll give it some full wearing.
I really liked Royal Tobacco ... I think its the best thing Amouage has released under Renaud Salmone 🙏

This one is very, very sticky-syrupy-sweet to me. Immediately reminded me of a strong fall/winter style candle.

I love Andy Tauer’s Sundowner. That is a fantastic tobacco fragrance.

@@RamseytheRam It kind of smells like HOS Emerald Reign with added tobacco and without the makeup smell.
I can’t lie, but this smelt like bbq burnt hair. Grant it, I put one spray on while at the mall, and it was really a turn off.
Also I got heavy amberwoods. That might be why I don’t like it.
I had to scrub it off after 1 hour. 🤷♂️
Maybe, I’ll try it again.
Luckily I didnt get the amber woods... I liked it... but it was very quite on me... normally amberwood frags are beasts ... if you try it again let me know if you feel the same way 😊

Reckless leather or royal tobacco….
I loved them both but I think they both could have a spot in your collection and not be redundant... but I think Reckless Leather is a more challenging wear... but sometimes I get a hankering for tobacco fraga especially in the winter and Royal Tobacco would totally scratch that itch 🤌🤌🤌
Wearing this today! Enjoy your videos SO much. Always learn something new. Appreciate getting more than just opinions like good/bad, hate it, like it, love it. I will not be buying a bottle of this. Too strong on the licorice in the opening and I think the whole thing is too smoky on me. Will go through my 5 ml decant because I find there is a lot to discover in there. Interesting what you said about the cacao note. Cacao is a note that I am currently very much into since falling in love with Cacao Porcelana by Atelier Materi. Do you have any other cacao fragrances to recommend that are available on the market today?
So many cocoa frags... LIDGE , 5 o'clock au gingembre , Tobacco Vanille, santal majuscule , dior homme... so so many

Hello Ramsey, what's your opinion on grey market/discounted perfumes which are available on different websites and at fb sellers?
I came across a video on yt where Amouage CEO claims that if you are getting Amouages at even 20% discount, there is a chance that they are 99% fake and Amouages dont go on sale across any part of the world.
And fb sellers/some websites are offering them at 50-60% discount.So many people are buying from them, are they selling fake Amouages? I am confused, your input will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!❤
I don't know anything about FB as I don't even have a FB... but if you use one of the reputable sites like Jomashop or fragrancebuy ca
You are probably fine...he is just trying to get you to pay full retail when that isn't really necessary is my best guess there
@@RamseytheRam yeah like Amouage CEO was comparing copies of perfumes bottles as well as their juices that are circulating in UAE and adjecent countries market. Then, he gave that statement about discounted and chances of amouages being fake, saying that they wont last and how bottle design has flaws and all.
They dont sell at discounted price yet their perfumes are at shelves of every grey market websites😄. Thanks again, i will go with jomashop.

I have Cuir Cuba Intense, which was released in 2014 by Nicolai Parfumeur Createur. Have you smelled it? It is so similar that I’m not sure I could tell the difference.

@@RamseytheRam They are slightly similar in the very beginning on a blotter. But comparing them.. hm.. it's like to compare a pumpkin with a cathederal (c). Amouage is light years better. By the way, this video is quite vague, like you wasn't sure about your opinion. I, by contrast, have courage to admit that RT is a modern powerhouse masterpiece. I went to a huge niche store today, and there was a lot of interesting things, but RT towered there unequaled.. However, there was another unequaled towered thing - Moon Dust by MiN New York.. :)

The Prunol note gives off a plum vibe similar to Plum Japonis by Tom Ford

There are some fragrance houses you feel in sync with and invested in. Until something happens and you no longer fit together.
Amouage used to be that for me (and I think you too). I would blind buy with certainty I’d respect their creations. That’s not the case anymore as we’re out of sync.
However - I do think royal tobacco is great and the best release since the change in creative direction. I find there are some similarities in the base to silver oud - but that’s probably as they share CZ as the perfumer.
I am going to give silver oud a test drive tomorrow... but i heard there is a sweetness to it... that scares me 😬

@@RamseytheRam On my 1st try I sprayed my upper chest and back of neck. On 2nd try I sprayed small on my chest only. This is easily my favorite spice frag. Ive got 10 that have spice and this has more depth and character. To my taste I needed to go light. I just pulled out my Musc Rauvager and prefer Royal T.
