@@Darth_Raider_ I know thats great.
I hope thieves don’t start carrying relays. 😂❤️
My stepdads truck has a kill switch but it’s not an actual switch. You have to push a button while the key is in the start position or it won’t actually turn over.
Another good security system is just to have a manual transmission. Almost nobody knows how to drive a manual transmission with a clutch.
I've found that removing the engine every night works well too.

Yeah but then they'll destroy the clutch....
But hey, clutches are still less expensive than the cars that they're built into.
most car thieves know manuals. what they dont know is how a car works lol. if it doesnt start, that will confuse them
It'll sure slow down a carjacker. And, it gives you time to get a good sight picture.
wouldnt work in the UK or the majority of Europe to be fair, as "stick shifts" or manual transmissions are the norm over here.
You fellas from the old country have the right idea with those manual gearshift’s. I wish I had all the time and money I’ve spent replacing automatics!
Finally got wise, now all my rigs are manual. They last longer than most engines, I can fix them myself…….I just wish I had known earlier in life!
A kill switch is just as effective if you don’t put it directly in sight if you remove your fuel pump relay enough it’ll wear out the socket only do this for long storage

Woah, this escalated quickly
That would be a special for Chrysler owners.
I once asked a New Jersey Cop the best way to keep your car from being stolen .
He said to install 2 separate Kill switches in 2 different locations on your car .
( for example , one under the hood and one in your trunk )
He said even if the thief finds one of them , usually they will drain the battery down before they realize that there is another kill switch and its not going to start .
There's another way to prevent a car theft in NJ, don't live or park in or near Newark, Irvington, East Orange, Hillside.
In Patterson NJ, they kill you first then remove your kill switch.
@@justacinnamonbun8658 forgot Paterson
@@edwardguillen4381 Sorry, there's so many places in NJ where you can lose your car as well as your life. 😆
@@justacinnamonbun8658sad you have to consider that
My friend drives a manual transmission. He says it’s the best theft deterrent. “Cat, that stick is better than ‘The Club’.” He flew planes for the Coast Guard for 23 years.
As a retired LEO I've seen cases where the stupid criminals have actually stolen vehicles with manual transmissions even though they didn't know how to operate it. It made it easier to catch them but some vehicles ended badly damaged
Pull it in neutral and push it real good.
It’s not a good deterrent. Most thief’s know how those cars work.
or you can also;
Disconnect your driveshaft
Let the air out of your tires
Remove the engine and put it in the trunk
Have a manual transmission
Lock you transmission in park
Always leave your gas tank empty
Cut you positive battery cable
Stick a banana in the muffler
Loosen all of you lug nuts
Park your car upside down
Remove your brake and gas pedals
Drain you battery
Replace your engine oil with bearings
Did that w/ relay years ago. Replace it with w/dummy relay (internal guts removed). A white dot underneath the dummy relay will identify it for you.
Very smart 👍
Now that’s a solution
Not a bad idea. Used to do the same with my VTX 1800, by removing the fuel pump fuse, as well as with the 91 K2500. That one, I rewired sonthe fuel pump fuse was swapped for a spare spot.
Couldn't rely on it being manual back then, be ause folks still.knew how to drive stick.
I personally have my fuel relay on a key ring.
Lmao you live jersey
Easy fix, the evil doer sees the relay missing, she will reach and pull the AC relay and give it to the 'start' slot, be on her way. : )
@@twoZJs so grab both relays?
@@twoZJs yeah because a thief is gonna pop the hood and give you a quick tune up when trying to steal a car..
@@dusannestorovic5699 In ten minutes of UA-cam surfing I already learned all the tricks the thieves don't know. It would take a thief 10 min of searching his profession to just have everything he need ready . Good thieves also leave your car parked for a few days to see if it has a tracker on it. In the hood we would see random. Cars parked where they shouldn't. We knew they were being aired out.
Relays were never designed to be removed hundreds of times. You'll either mess up the fuse box or relay.
Use a reed switch that's hidden under the carpet or headiner. And use a magnet at that location to turn the reed switch on, and remove the magnet to disable the ignition system.
I leave a note in mine that reads: "If you steal it, total it, or I will hunt you down and total you."
Yo I know someone who got they car back and was mad as hell cause they no longer wanted it
Stealing this for my cars bro
😄 I giggled at a few comments...but this really made my day!
These thieves are degenerates. They will have the audacity to one you even though its their fault.
My Jeep has a carb and electric fuel pump. With the kill switch it will start and move about 100 yards and then die. That will leave them either in the parking lot lane or on the street trying to start the jeep and they will have to abandon it.
How does it start without a battery?
At first I thought you said you jeep had a carburetor and the whole efi system together. It makes more sense that it had a carb and electronic fuel pump together, I’ve never heard of that before (most of my “knowledge” is from motorcycles) but I can see that working out.
@@dannymiller7187 Yeah, most old school rigs with carbs were still running mechanical pumps back in the day but I updated to an electric pump because it's just easier to swap out on the trail.
You can literally just pop out the Horn relay and put it into the fuel injection relay slot and you're off to the races.
they are not going to mess with a car that doesn't start

i was hoping Scotty was gonna whip out a twelve gauge. hopefully next time!
Well now all the thieves are gonna carry fuel relays once they see this video 🙃
I did this for many years, the only down side is the two "metal sleeves" (for lack of a better word) where the pins of the fuse slide into start warning out and the contact gets wonkie, but I did manage to route the cables to a spare slot and continue using it
When you are sketchy neighborhood. If they see you opening the hood they may think about that.
Brilliant Scotty! Houston airport parking has been plagued with cars being stolen!!!!
Coming from Brooklyn N.Y. I have been doing this for years. I had a 1976 Trans Am where I pulled the Ignition Box wire clips which were one black and one white. I switched positions and plugged them back in. There were three attempts to steal it and three failed.
I'll be sure to carry one from now on. Thanks for the heads up scotty!
Unfortunately for me 3 years ago, thieves decided to steal my tires instead of the car. I did have wheel locks on them, but these guys clearly had the master key because each lug nut was pristine on the ground.
You’re talking about the locking nuts?!?! I guess there’s only 10-20 variations and every dealer has a set :(
The ones that spin are good. Make them work for your wheels.
Locking lug nuts are more aggravation to the owner than to a thief .
They dont need a " Master " key , just a inexpensive device that is sold in many auto parts stores .
It will remove your " locking " nuts quicker than you can say
" Get away from my Car ! "
@jayhockley8841 funny cause every time I go get my tires rotated they can't never unlock them until I provide them the lug for it.
I added a hidden kill switch for the fuel pump on my '90 civic. The so called ' hidden' kill switch ,that the thief finds cuz he's smarter than the me, is hooked to my horn relay with a 10 second run time .

I also unplug the fuel injection relay when i do an oil change.
I crank without it a few times to build oil pressure so it doesnt run dry for nearly as long on the first startup with fresh oil.
That is actually a pretty clever trick. I think I'll try that next time.
It takes a second for oil to reach the top of the engine. 🤦🏻♂️
That's a solution looking for a problem. If you legitimately think that all the oil drains out of the top end of that engine in 25 minutes you are too stupid to even drive.
Removing the whole steering wheel like mr.bean will do the trick too.
They can just use paper clips to bypass that relay lol I used to do this all the time after my Chevy got stolen good trick but eventually would put stress on the relay
They could if they knew what's wrong. The vast majority of people don't have the skills to trouble shoot a broken car.
You can use a piece of foil over a broken fuse also. Or over anything that will fit in there. Most Thieves will have at least a little foil on them.
Have a garage? Use it!
Most people don’t have garages…
I have expected the car to be a stick, great Anti-Theft device! LOL
Or hide the kill switch somewhere easy to reach, but out of sight. Under the seat or in the console works, but using built in buttons you never use for their normal function works better because a thief won't know the sequence unless they spy on you somehow.
Scotty, you're the best. Thank you!

My son's car was stolen by what we suspect to be a thief with a tow truck. A bunch of cars were stolen around that area in a one-month period, and many people claimed to have seen a truck hooking up some of those cars at night. Fuel relay fuse won't do diddly against that.
no, but a cheap ebay gps tracker will get your car back and catch the thief in the act with the vehicle. use what little brain you have....

To be fair, that is not a very subtle way of stealing cars. The scam might not last long.
@@AB-ou8ve Not subtle at all, and not a scam. Just a group of guys with a tow truck is all. According to the metro police, it's one of the main methods of auto thefts aside from joy riders. Apparently stealing a car for a joy ride and leaving it stranded is a common form of entertainment for some.

Omg Scotty, kill switches are worth a pretty Penny to install and buy but this is a priceless solution. It's brilliant lol its so simple too.
Uhh, that's pretty impractical to remove that every time you park your car
I think it’s for overnight parking in areas that have had a lot of theft, or for longer parking. It’s really not that much work if you are really worried about your car being stolen.
Remove the spark plugs you'll be fine...
I had my ignition jammed out and the shifter broken into neutral so they could tow it away. Luckily their tiny Nissan couldn’t pull my tundra for very long so they broke down and bailed from the scene. It was almost $4000 worth of damage, good thing for insurance!
Dude your awesome I been watching you for a very long time
Oh yeah lemme pop my hood everytime I wanna drive it 😄
Maybe they will now start carrying these relays as well.
I figure having a clutch pretty much makes it thief-proof.
I sleep soundly with two of my wheels in my room every night.
But my window is still busted, and my ignition is on the back floorboard...
As a thief deterrent, I just keep an adult mountain lion in my truck cab.
Either fuel injection relay or the fuel pump relay will work. Just something that's not a fuse that anyone could carry around. When I park at the airport now, I pull the fuel pump relay. That way the pump doesn't work (although I do park in an enclosed parking garage with 24x7 security guards driving around but it's an extra step to ensure the car can't really be stolen that easily.) NOW the key is to NOT lose the relay while you're gone, because if you do, and you don't realize it until you get back you're going to have to get one, which is far better than having your car stolen, but still a headache. I had a friend who did this trick once, and lost the relay during a trip and I had to give him a ride to an auto parts store to buy another one so he could drive his car home from the airport....
Personally, I think removing at least the relay is a better alternative to a kill switch as Scotty says. And even if they manage to reprogram the car, they will still have to get a relay / breaker to activate the fuel pump, and by that time (if you park in an area where there are other people, they will be noticed. In fact I got stopped one time at the airport because I was putting the relay back in my car and the on-site police officer asked to see the car registration and my license.
Car thief: thanks Scotty I will be sure to remember to carry extra fuel relays along with my key fob maker and diamond saw
Added bonus: if you do this, buy extra fuses!
Great idea Scotty. I think you should probably take a picture of the relay, so you know the exact spot it goes when you return it.
Or, I dunno, just look at the fuse diagram again.
I know a guy who pulled the relay control from his left blinker!
Car will not even crank without turning on the blinker first!
Back when they were still a thing, I had my cigarette lighter as the starter kill, so it had to be pushed in to enable the relay coil operation. Pull out the cigarette lighter and it's disabled.
Very few people now have even seen a cigarette lighter and wouldn't know how they work.
In the old days we used a dizzy switch, just a toggle to interrupt the coil wire.
That was in the previous century. LOL

I’m convinced this is Jesus who promised to come back.
At the end of the day, if someone wants your car bad enough, they'll find a way to get it. These are for the amateurs or perhaps ill-prepared car theives. But the professional ones, they know how to get cars. Having a manual transmission or kill switch or even removing breakers from the fuse box won't necessarily prevent a professional from stealing your car. It may slow them down, but they'll find a way. A rope, a jack and a dolly is all you really need. Once they get your car to a "safe" place, they'll figure out the other stuff so they can sell it. Just make sure your insurance is upto date, and don't make your car too appealing to thieves (ie. don't leave valuables in view, keep your car clean inside and out, etc).
No thief will ever be able to steal my car. I don't have a car.
The other fun trick is to have a manual transmission car and a kill switch hidden somewhere else in the car. Suddenly the car is impossible to steal for most people because almost no one knows how to drive manual and won't get 5 feet
